How to use a lying duck correctly. Useful and medicinal properties of bed liner

Target: emptying the patient's bladder or bowel.

Equipment: ship, oilcloth, screen, gloves

1. Put on gloves.

3. Rinse the boat with warm water, leaving some water in it.

4. Place an oilcloth under the patient's pelvis.

5. Move your left hand under the sacrum from the side, helping the patient to raise the pelvis. In this case, the patient's legs should be bent at the knees.

6. With your right hand, move the boat under the patient's buttocks so that the perineum is over the opening of the boat.

7. Cover the patient with a blanket and leave him alone for a while.

8. At the end of defecation with the right hand, remove the vessel, while helping the patient to raise the pelvis with the left hand.

9. Remove the boat and oilcloth.

10. Disinfect the boat and oilcloth.

11. Remove the screen, take off your gloves, wash your hands.

Note: Sometimes the above method of transporting the boat cannot be used because seriously ill patients cannot be lifted. In this situation, you can proceed as follows.

Nurse's algorithm of actions:

1. Put on gloves.

2. Divide the patient with a screen.

3. Turn the patient slightly to one side with the patient's legs bent at the knees.

4. Move the boat under the patient's buttocks.

5. Rotate the patient onto their back so that their perineum is over the opening of the vessel.

6. Cover the patient and leave him alone for a while.

7. At the end of the bowel movement, turn the patient slightly to one side.

8. Remove the ship.

9. After examining the contents of the vessel, pour it into the toilet. Rinse the vessel with hot water.

10. After changing gloves and holding a clean vessel, wash the patient.

11.After completing the manipulation, remove the ship, oilcloth, screen.

12. Take off your gloves, wash your hands.

Note: In addition to the enameled vessel, rubber is widely used. A rubber vessel is used for debilitated patients, in the presence of pressure sores, with urinary and fecal incontinence. Do not inflate the vessel tightly, as it will exert significant pressure on the sacrum. The inflatable cushion of the rubber vessel (that is, the part of the vessel that will come into contact with the patient) must be covered with a diaper. A urine collection bag is also given to men at the same time as the vessel.

Washing patients

Target: care of the external genitals and perineum.

Equipment: gloves, oilcloth, screen, ship, forceps, cotton swabs, gauze napkins, jug, tray, water thermometer, antiseptic solutions (furacillin solution 1: 5000, low-borne potassium permanganate solution, 2% sodium bicarbonate solution).

Nurse's algorithm of actions:

1. Wash your hands and put on gloves.

2. Divide the patient with a screen.

3. Place the patient on his back with the legs bent at the knees and apart.

4. Place an oilcloth under the patient and place the boat.

5. Take a forcepsong with a napkin or cotton swab in your right hand, and in your left hand a jug with a warm antiseptic solution (low-boron potassium permanganate solution, furacilin solution 1: 5000) or water at a temperature of 30-35 ° C.

6. Water the solution on the genitals, and with a napkin (or tampon) move from top to bottom (from the genitals to the anus), changing tampons as they become dirty, first wash the genitals (labia in women, penis and scrotum in men) , then, the inguinal folds, in the last turn, wash the area of the perineum and anus.

7. Dry in the same sequence with dry swabs.

8. Remove the boat, oilcloth and screen.

9. Take off your gloves, wash your hands.

REMEMBER!

Severely ill patients should be washed after each act of bowel movement and urination, as well as several times a day for urinary and fecal incontinence.

When caring for the external genitals and perineum, special attention should be paid to natural folds. Women are only washed from top to bottom!

Most often, the vessel is round, has a large opening at the top and a small one at the bottom in the tube that serves to free the vessel from its contents. The upper large opening is provided with a cover. A clean vessel is usually located under the patient's bed on a special bench.

Rules for submitting a vessel

When submitting a vessel, you need to follow a number of simple rules. When a patient needs to empty his bowels, he must be fenced off from the rest of the patients with a screen, then rinse the vessel with warm water, leaving some water at the bottom.

The patient is thrown back the blanket, asking him to bend his legs, and helping him with his left hand to raise the pelvis. The bedside home caregiver holds the boat with her right hand by the tube, bringing it under the patient's buttocks.

After installing the vessel, the patient's perineum should be above the upper opening, and the tube should be between his legs. After this, the patient can be covered with a blanket and left alone for a while. After that, the vessel is taken out from under the patient and taken out to the toilet for pouring out, covered with a lid.

After emptying the vessel, it must be disinfected with a solution of bleach (1–2%) or a solution of chloramine (3%), and also washed with a brush. The vessel should then be rinsed and stored under the patient's bed on a bench.

There are also special machines for washing the vessel. According to the rules of some hospitals, ships are stored in a special cabinet in numbered cells.

Using a urine bag

With strict bed rest in bed, patients have to urinate. For this, there is a special device - a urine bag. They are made of an oval shape with an elongated tube-shaped hole made of metal or glass, so that patient care is carried out competently.

However, the shape of this tube in urine bags for men and women is different. Also, women often use a vessel to urinate.

The urine collection bag and vessel must be individual. They are served to the patient in a clean and heated form, after fulfilling their function, they are immediately emptied and cleaned.

Cleaning the urine bag differs in that it is washed from time to time with a solution of hydrochloric acid of low concentration, since urine produces a sediment that easily adheres to the walls of the urine bag and leaves an unpleasant odor.

The ship is not a whim, but an important and necessary means of caring for a bedridden patient, on the site you will learn how to choose the right one. The normalization of the patient's life directly depends on the quality, shape and characteristics of this medical item. The use of disposable diapers is not always advisable, but it also hits the budget. In this case, the way out of a delicate situation is a properly selected vessel.

When choosing a medical device, you need to take into account the gender of the elderly person. A special urine bag is used for a man.

Standard ship sizes:

  1. 43 × 35 cm, volume - 0.7 l;
  2. 48 × 37 cm, volume - 1.0 l;
  3. 54 × 45 cm, volume - 1.5 liters.

Modern devices are most often navicular and round in shape. Medical vessels should be:

  • resistant to aggressive and disinfectants;
  • non-traumatic;
  • convenient for the elderly person and their caregivers.

Various materials are used for the manufacture of the vessel - rubber, metal, plastic.

Which vessel (duck) is better for an elderly person?

When choosing a vessel, you need to take into account all its advantages and disadvantages. The scapular shape is preferable, since when using such equipment, the risk of staining the laundry is minimal.

Round devices are more likely to leak.

If an elderly person suffers from constipation and has to use enemas for emptying, then it is better to choose large metal products.

The advantages of a plastic vessel:

  • the material easily accepts the temperature of the human body;
  • low weight of the device;
  • shape - the height of the product for the sacrum area is lower than for other areas;
  • indicated for patients who cannot lift the sacrum on their own;
  • the product is resistant to frequent washing and treatment with any disinfectant;
  • does not retain or accumulate unpleasant odors;
  • the presence of a measuring scale, which allows you to control the volume of bowel movements;
  • the color range of products allows you to study the color of feces or urine;
  • there is a cover.

The disadvantages of plastic products include the small volume of the vessel, which does not allow using it after an enema.

The metal product is more durable and is more often used in hospitals. It should not be constantly under the patient.

Advantages of stainless steel products:

  • unlimited service life;
  • hygiene - a smooth surface does not retain particles of feces;
  • resistance to septic tanks, frequent washing;
  • large bowl volume;
  • shape, many models are equipped with side handles.

Metal models should not be used for patients with pressure ulcers, as sharp edges can injure the skin. In addition, it is difficult to see the color of feces or urine in them.

Operating rules

Before using a medical device, you need to prepare a towel or oilcloth, talcum powder or baby powder, toilet paper or wet wipes, rubber gloves.

Algorithm of actions when using the ship:

  1. Wash your hands, put on gloves.
  2. Place a towel or waterproof napkin under the older person's basin.
  3. Pour hot water into the vessel. This will keep the product warm.
  4. Treat the edges with talcum powder or baby powder. This will make it easier to place the boat under the basin. It is forbidden to use these funds for bedsores.
  5. If the patient is lying down, ask them to roll over to their side and bend their legs. If independent movement is impossible, then it is turned over.
  6. Place the boat as close to the patient as possible. Next, ask him to lift the pelvis while supporting the patient under the sacrum. Use your other hand to move the medical equipment under the elderly person.
  7. Make sure the boat is in the correct position and the hole is in the right place.
  8. If the patient can perform the necessary actions on his own, there is no threat to life and health, then it is better to leave him alone with the medical equipment. Ask to report the end of a bowel movement or urination.
  9. Get the ship out.
  10. Remove the medical device and perform the necessary hygiene procedures.

A seriously ill patient, if necessary, to empty the intestines, uses a vessel in bed, and when urinating, a urine collector. The vessel can be used enamelled metal, plastic or rubber. The rubber vessel is used for extremely debilitated patients, as well as in the presence of pressure ulcers. A foot pump is used to inflate the rubber boat. Do not inflate the vessel too tightly, otherwise it will exert significant pressure on the sacrum.

If the patient has the urge to defecate, it is necessary:

  • put on gloves;
  • prepare the vessel: warm, dry, pour a little water on the bottom;
  • ask the patient to bend the knees and lift the pelvis (if the patient is weakened, help him to lift the buttocks);
  • put an oilcloth under the buttocks;
  • put the ship on an oilcloth;
  • help the patient to board the vessel so that his crotch is over the opening of the vessel;
  • ask the patient to bend the knees, raise the pelvis;
  • wipe the anus with a damp sanitary napkin. It is less traumatic than using toilet paper;
  • wash the vessel thoroughly;
  • rinse the vessel with hot water, place under the patient;
  • dry with a clean napkin;
  • remove the ship, oilcloth;
  • help the patient to lie down comfortably.

If the patient is in serious condition, weakened, then it is better to use a rubber boat:

  • put on gloves;
  • prepare the vessel (dry, warm), pour some water on the bottom;
  • help the patient to bend the knees and turn to one side, with his back to you;
  • with the right hand, bring the vessel under the patient's buttocks, and with the left hand, holding the patient by the side, help him turn onto his back, while pressing the vessel tightly against the patient's buttocks;
  • position the patient so that the crotch is over the opening of the vessel;
  • put an additional pillow under the back so that the patient can be in the "half-sitting" position;
  • give time for the act of defecation;
  • turn the patient to one side at the end of the act of defecation, holding him with his left hand, the vessel with his right hand;
  • remove the vessel from under the patient;
  • wipe the anus with a damp sanitary napkin;
  • wash the vessel, pour hot water over it;
  • place the boat under the patient;
  • wash the patient from top to bottom, from the genitals to the anus;
  • dry with a clean napkin;
  • remove the ship, oilcloth;
  • take off gloves;
  • help the patient to lie down comfortably.
After the vessel has been washed, it must be rinsed with hot water and placed near the patient's bed.
After using the urine bag, the contents are poured out, the container is rinsed with warm water. To remove the strong ammoniacal odor of urine, you can rinse the urine bag with a weak solution of potassium permagnate or the Sanitary cleaning agent.

Various events lead to a difficult condition of a person in a hospital bed, and the most difficult thing in this situation is to ensure cleanliness and comfort when administering natural needs.

Care for seriously ill patients is carried out in accordance with the localization of the problem, trying not to aggravate the painful sensations - this concerns the choice of positions for sleeping, resting, eating and using the toilet.

Types of medical vessel

In most cases, for bedridden patients who are incapable of independent movement and do not use crutches or walkers for the disabled, there is a special system for the administration of natural needs, for which a medical vessel is used.

The special design of the vessel's bowl allows the patient to get rid of urine and feces in an acceptable form, without contaminating bed linen and clothing.

Medical vessels are manufactured in a wide range of structures from various materials:

  • enameled metal;
  • faience;
  • rubber;
  • plastic.

All vessels are more or less similar in shape - smooth rounded shapes, low height, an oval hole in the center, closed by a lid, and a side pipe for draining the contents. The choice of the type of vessel should be made depending on the age and weight of the patient. Processing and disinfection of all types is the same. The vessel should be stored on a stool under the patient's bed.

Ship delivery technique

Before starting sanitary measures, the patient's bed is fenced off with a screen, the place for the ship is lined with waterproof oilcloth, the ship is rinsed with warm water. Gently moving the hand under the patient's sacrum, slowly raise the pelvis, while the patient's legs are directed up and bent at the knees. The narrow part of the vessel is placed under the sacrum until the opening of the vessel is aligned with the crotch.

At the end of the emptying, the vessel is removed from under the patient in a similar way, closed with a lid and placed on a stool. The patient's perineum is cleaned with a damp cloth and treated with baby cream or petroleum jelly.

The vessel is emptied by draining the contents into the toilet, after which it is rinsed with water for final cleaning, disinfected with chloramine, and put into place under the bed.
