We will create an artificial rock or grotto in the country with our own hands in stages, especially since the transition from one technological process to another will require breaks.

First thingyou need to create a structure frame ... The base of the product is made of polyurethane foam, in shape and size corresponding to the parameters of the future rock or canopy grotto. To ensure good adhesion of materials, we wrap the base with a construction mesh and secure it with ties. Apply a 5-8 cm layer of concrete on top. The frame is ready. Its outline is the outline of your future product. In terms of weight, the frame will be much lighter than its analogue made of natural stone, therefore, during further processing, you can turn it in a convenient way for work and move it around the site.

At the second stage, we give the product a finished shape. ... We will do this using a mixture of high-quality cement and sand in a ratio of 1: 3 with the addition of natural fillers - fiberglass, ash, wood glue, quartz impurities in any amount. Then we add water to the mixture, bringing it to the consistency of concrete. We apply the finished solution with a spatula to the frame, imitating the lines of natural stones, trying to give the future rock a shape close to natural. This will take time and some skill. For more successful practice, it is worthwhile to carefully examine natural stones in advance in order to study the plasticity of their lines.

Until the solution is frozen we form a structured surface our artificial stone. To create the effect of porosity, press the sponge against the wet cement. Grooves, grooves made on artificial stone, imitation of the erosion effect will increase the artistic value of the product.

The next stage in the formation of a rock or grotto will be concrete shrinkage. ... The process can take up to a month and will require patience. In no case should the structure be dried in the sun, it must be moved into the shade and periodically sprayed with water to avoid cracking.

Finishing work

Now a self-made grotto or rock needs final finishing. It should be started without waiting for the end of concrete shrinkage. Approximately three days after the garment has been left to dry, it is necessary to carry out smoothing its surface - remove all irregularities that have an unnatural appearance with the help of a fine-grained grinding stone.

Preparation for painting- an obligatory stage of finishing work, the quality of its implementation will certainly affect the appearance of the product in the future. All cracks and irregularities must be carefully removed from dust using a clean and dry paint brush. Then the man-made stone must be washed and dried.

After the artificial rocks created by your own hands dry up, you can proceed directly to their coloring... To do this, you should stock up on water-based aerosol paints, choosing shades that are as close to natural as possible - brown, terracotta, yellow, dirty orange, green. It is better to apply the paints in several layers without leaving unnatural stains. If you are not satisfied with the result, you can wash off the paint with water and start the process again.

Determining the rock to a permanent place

Once your DIY rocks are finished, they can be moved to a permanent location and carefully secured there in any way you can. Artificial boulders can be placed at the foot of the cliff or at the entrance to the grotto. Knowing how to make a grotto with your own hands, you can easily create several artificial stones of the desired shape, using crumpled paper wrapped in a construction mesh as a basis for the frame instead of foam.

In order for the rock to have a complete look, it should be surrounded by vegetation. - cover with wild grapes or ivy, plant ferns and wild bushes at the foot.

Having mastered the technology of creating artificial stones, you can design your own cave or a grotto of stones at the dacha with your own hands, or assemble a reduced copy of the Japanese rock garden. The creation of an artificial cave in the boarding house was a very exciting experience for everyone. We already have most of the places in the boarding house reserved. Its future inhabitants take an active part in the discussion of many of our plans for the improvement of sites in various zones of the boarding house. Fortunately, the presence of the Internet allows these discussions to be carried out quickly and very efficiently. And the most important effect of this is that everyone feels like a CREATOR of their new place of residence.

We never expected that the topic of creating an artificial cave would cause such a response. A large number of wishes came, descriptions of those natural caves that I managed to visit, of the feelings that I experienced in them. Decades have passed, and the memory has retained the smallest details, which both ladies and gentlemen willingly shared. Tellingly, out of more than fifty messages, there were practically no repetitions of experienced emotions. There was only one thing in common - the desire to have the opportunity in old age to visit even a man-made artificial cave. What feelings do you want to experience from these visits. Here are just some of the statements:

1. It is great to feel complete protection from all external influences. It is with this feeling that the saying is associated: "Like behind a stone wall."
   Surprisingly, many believe that such a comparison is associated with a successful marriage. Although, who knows, perhaps there is a relationship in this. When people lived in caves, women with a reliable companion and their children in a safe cave felt the same security.
2. Understanding how great this world and its Creator are.
3. A feeling of complete unity with nature, with the beauty that surrounds a person.

These are just three sensations. The creators were faced with the task of how to fulfill all the "orders" for the creation of an artificial cave. We realized that the first proposal to build, albeit not a simple one, a structure made of natural stone would not fulfill any wish. We need a fairy tale, a fantasy of nature, embodied in stone, but hand-made.

The solution lay on the surface. Only the use of artificial stone can create a miracle. The main thing is to find real craftsmen and provide them with high-quality materials of the highest class.

Everything was found, a project of a three-cascade cave was created, the walls and vault of which will be covered with stalactites and stalagmites, as if they had grown over many centuries.

The combination of this stone splendor with the water surface, with talented illumination will allow you to forget about their artificial origin.

One can argue about artificiality, since all the material used to create an artificial cave is natural. I like the name "decorative stone" better, but the result is the same. Installation of such a structure is much easier, the possibility of creating the most bizarre forms of cave elements is real.

Several ladies wanted to combine the incompatible. I really want to somehow carry out the "greening" of at least a small part of the cave, and so that there is a stone bench by the water. I read you that there are canned trees. I need your advice on this product, as I understand it, one-of-a-kind. But what can you do if you really want to ...
