Aeroflot Economy hand luggage dimensions. Aeroflot baggage rules - what can be carried

Since November of this year, new baggage rules on Aeroflot aircraft have come into force. Interestingly, the set of amended standards is now general and applies to all airlines without exception. To avoid problems along the way, it is recommended to take time to study new provisions, which will undoubtedly avoid problems and difficult situations on the road.

General rules of transportation

In order to more fully see the picture of baggage transportation on airplanes, it is necessary to outline the basic standards for baggage transportation and analyze the concepts used.

All things necessary for the airline client and collected for the trip are divided into the following types:

  • hand luggage - items that, according to the rules, are allowed to be carried into the aircraft cabin at the rate of 1 bag - 1 piece;
  • luggage – large-sized property, for example, suitcases, bags, which are checked and marked before the flight, and then placed in a separate aircraft compartment.

As for the general rules of transportation, the following main points can be highlighted:

  • the passenger has the right to bring personal items into the cabin that are not on the list of prohibited items;
  • all baggage must undergo a pre-flight inspection procedure for the safety of the latter;
  • Check-in of suitcases is calculated based on the number of seats on all Aeroflot routes and depends on the class of ticket and the fare at which it was purchased.

Since November 5 of this year, the regulations on the carriage of hand luggage and baggage on airplanes have undergone some changes. These did not affect tickets sold under standard offers, while for non-refundable and cheaper fares the rules have changed somewhat.

Transporting hand luggage

Previously, the weight and other parameters of hand luggage were subject to the rules established by the airlines themselves, so the standards had significant differences. Now the characteristics of things allowed to be placed in the aircraft cabin and not requiring payment must meet the same requirements for all carriers.

The list of conditions includes:

  1. The total weight of luggage should not exceed 5 kg. At the same time, airlines can increase the norm at will, for example, up to 7 or even 10 kg. You should focus on the indicated value of 5 kg.
  2. The size of a bag taken on a plane should be no more than 115 cm. To calculate, you will need to add up the parameters of the bag or other item. Average figures are 55×40×

These rules apply to tickets purchased at a non-refundable rate. For other proposals, the norms have not changed. For example, in business class you can still take things and objects weighing up to 15 kg, but the total size of these should also not be more than 115 cm.

In addition, if previously laptops, phones, cameras, folders with documents, books and umbrellas were not included in the list of hand luggage, now their weight is also taken into account when calculating the total amount of such.

Before the flight, all hand luggage must be weighed. If the total value exceeds the acceptable limit, the list of items will need to be revised. Otherwise, airport staff have the right to not allow the passenger to board.

What can not be checked in as hand luggage?

A list of items allowed for transportation in the aircraft cabin has been introduced. However, they are not taken into account when calculating the total weight of hand luggage.

The list of things includes the following items:

  • women's bag, backpack;
  • food for children;
  • outerwear;
  • cane, crutches;
  • a stroller, a cradle, a walker that can fit under the chair in front if folded;
  • bouquet of flowers;
  • medical chair;
  • musical instruments, and if their size is more than 158 cm and their weight is up to 80 kg, then a separate permit for their transportation will be required.

Medicines and duty-free goods in a sealed bag are also allowed on the plane, but are not hand luggage.

Prohibited items

The list of items whose transportation in the aircraft cabin is strictly prohibited includes:

  • piercing, cutting objects;
  • weapons, ammunition and items imitating them, including toys;
  • hazardous chemical compounds, for example, toxic, explosive substances;
  • devices or other items containing magnets and magnetized elements.

Liquids are allowed to be carried in containers of no more than 100 ml. In this case, the total amount should be no more than 1 liter. Containers with liquids must be placed in a transparent bag.

Oversized luggage

Transportation items exceeding the established size of hand luggage are classified as oversized baggage. They are transported in a separate compartment of the aircraft. The rule applies: 1 place - 1 bag.

The parameters of baggage allowed for free transportation, as well as the number of places provided for transportation, depend on the selected fare. In this case, the maximum weight limit cannot exceed 30 kg.

The baggage parameters are:

  1. Economy class. 1 free suitcase space is provided here. The weight in this case should not exceed the limit of 23 kg. If a ticket is purchased at the Premium fare, the passenger is provided with 2 free pieces of baggage transportation.
  2. Comfort class. Here, 2 free seats are provided free of charge, but the weight limit is also 23 kg.
  3. Business Class. Allowed to use 2 free places. The maximum weight is 30 kg.

As for the dimensions of luggage, it cannot exceed 158 cm, obtained by adding the length, width and height of the item.

The general weight limit for free baggage is 10 kg. The airline does not have the right to set a lower weight limit for large luggage.

Before the flight, all luggage must be weighed. If the permissible limits are exceeded, the passenger will be required to pay additional payment.

Video about luggage

The rules for transporting baggage on Aeroflot aircraft have changed slightly compared to the previous year. The maximum weight limits for hand luggage and large items have been tightened. Moreover, the values largely depend on the tariff at which the ticket was purchased. Before planning a trip, it is recommended to carefully study the new norms and choose the option that is most suitable for your particular case.

The popularity of airplanes, as one of the safest modes of transport, is ensured by strict adherence to standards for the transportation of passengers with luggage, which indicate what specific weight of luggage and hand luggage is allowed for transportation in a certain type of airliner.

Failure to comply with standard regulations may overload the airliner and have a negative impact on the safety of the flight.

All baggage coming on board is classified as follows::

  • Hand luggage is those things (bag, briefcase, etc.) that a passenger can safely take with him into the aircraft cabin. Each air carrier may establish and officially approve its own rules regarding the size and total weight of this baggage. On average this figure is 2 pcs. hand luggage, each weighing a maximum of 8-10 kg.
  • Checked baggage in this category includes items that are planned to be transported in the cargo compartment of the aircraft (weighing up to 20-23 kg) and dropped off at the check-in counter.

How much baggage can you carry on a plane?

Today, almost all air carriers use 2 main systems, according to which the final calculation of the allowance for bags and suitcases is made:

  1. Weight system;
  2. Number of seats system.

The weight system is the most popular and in demand on existing flights in the CIS countries and Asia.

The following baggage allowances are often established and in effect, services for which are provided free of charge:

  • Economy class – max 20 kg per 1 passenger;
  • Business class – max 30 kg per person;
  • For a child under 2 years of age – max 10 kg.

A fundamental element of this system is to place limits on the weight of bags and suitcases, rather than the physical space in which it is located. For example, people who buy an economy class ticket can take several suitcases or bags, the total weight of which does not exceed 20 kg.

For some routes, slightly higher standards may be established, the details of which should be displayed in the itinerary receipt. If data of this kind is not included in the document or related questions arise, then it is better to clarify controversial and unclear points on the official website of the air carrier.

The system of number of seats is a modern standard for the carriage of baggage, which is based on the method of calculation by the number of seats. It is most in demand on existing and popular flights in the Americas and on all Aeroflot airline routes (the system was introduced not so long ago).

According to the norms of the system, each passenger is given the opportunity to transport free of charge:

  • Economy class – 1st place = max 23 kg;
  • Business class – 2 seats = max 32 kg (each).

Attention! The total weight of two suitcases is not summed up, so if the weight of one of them exceeds the norm, and the weight of the second is several times less than the norm, then an additional payment for the excess of the first will be necessary according to the current tariffs of the carrier.

Interesting! For regular customers who are active participants in existing airline loyalty programs, incentives can be applied in the form of bonuses, the equivalent of which are additional seats (1-2) or a couple of kilograms (10-20).

Sizes and dimensions of luggage on the plane

The size of baggage and its dimensions are directly dependent on the active system of standards that the air carrier follows:

  • In the number of seats system, the sum of the width, length and height of the suitcase is a maximum of 1.58 m.
  • In the weight system, this figure should not exceed 2.03 m.

The permissible weight of luggage on an airplane of leading Russian airlines is approximate.

You should focus on the basic parameters and dimensions and should not exceed them:

Baggage weight restrictions on S7, UTair and other airlines may change periodically, so you should check the website for updates.

You can find out what weight of baggage is allowed on the plane from the air carrier whose services the potential passenger is going to use, depending on whether he is traveling alone or in a company with children, the age of whom also needs to be taken into account.

Baggage and hand luggage on the plane

Carry-on luggage on airliners is subject to strict control, which is done in order to increase flight safety.

Most often, each airline prohibits the following items from being carried as hand luggage::

  1. Scissors and knives (even nail scissors are often confiscated);
  2. Knitting needles;
  3. Corkscrews (regardless of size and material of manufacture);
  4. Needles from syringes for injections (may be allowed only in certain cases).

In addition to the above items, there are restrictions on the transportation of liquids in luggage, which include:

  1. Personal hygiene products: shower gel, shampoo;
  2. Perfumes: perfumes, sprays;
  3. Cosmetics, both decorative and skin care: creams, mascara.

These products can be transported hermetically sealed in containers not exceeding 100 ml. Each airline sets its own more precise requirements.

The only exceptions to the current rules may be liquid medications and food for children, which are vital during the flight.

Products and liquids of all types purchased at Duty Free are also not subject to general rules and restrictions.

Important! All products in hand luggage must be packed in individual zippered polyethylene bags.

Regardless of hand luggage, you are allowed to take such things with you on board the airliner:

  1. Baby stroller, cradle, baby food, diapers;
  2. Laptop, netbook, tablet, smartphone, camera;
  3. Outerwear, coat, raincoat or blanket;
  4. A package with goods purchased at Duty Free (alcohol, shampoo, sweets, etc.);
  5. A handbag, a briefcase, a folder for papers;
  6. Umbrella, cane;
  7. Magazines or other printed publications intended to be viewed and read throughout the flight.

Carriage of the above items is not subject to mandatory documentation, weighing and marking, because they belong to the category of hand luggage.

Limits for transporting alcoholic beverages on board an airliner

Many tourists are often concerned about the question of how much alcohol they can safely transport in their luggage on an airplane, and whether it is necessary to check it in and whether it can be left with them in the cabin.

Important! According to the current legislation of the Russian Federation, the transportation of alcohol is permitted only to adult citizens. It is worth considering that in other countries this indicator may differ significantly from that established in Russia.

Transport of up to 5 liters of alcohol is allowed into the territory of the Russian Federation:

  • Up to 3 liters of alcoholic beverages – no duty;
  • 3-5 liters – the tariff for each liter is 10 euros.

These rules apply only to individuals and apply to all bottles of alcohol that are imported into the Russian Federation, regardless of where the bottles are actually located (cargo compartment, backpack in hand luggage, or bags with goods from Duty Free).

All alcohol must be packaged in original bottles and marked with standard appropriate labeling. Accordingly, homemade alcohol, liqueurs, vodka and wine cannot be transported in airplane luggage.

The customs rules of each country differ from each other (sometimes quite significantly) and clearly regulate what can be transported, so before the trip it is worth checking whether transporting a bottle of good wine or vodka will not violate the rules of the receiving state.

There are no such strict restrictions on domestic flights; some air carriers allow you to pack alcohol in your luggage, but it is worth remembering that such goods are fragile. Before the flight, you should agree on all the conditions and rules regarding the transportation of alcoholic beverages.

In the aircraft cabin, it is possible to transport 1 liter of alcohol, divided into transparent factory containers, the volume of which does not exceed 100 ml.

What you cannot take in checked luggage and hand luggage

All bona fide air carriers use the same rules, which strictly prohibit the transportation of baggage in any compartment of the aircraft, which includes:

  1. Substances that have a caustic and corrosive effect (acids, alkalis, mercury, etc.).
  2. Gases of all types.
  3. Highly flammable substances and liquids (paints, solvents, lighters, etc.).
  4. Substances that oxidize (bleaches, etc.).
  5. Explosive objects of all types (guns, fireworks, etc.).
  6. Radioactive substances.
  7. Substances of an infectious, toxic and poisonous nature.
  8. Small-sized vehicles that run on lithium batteries.
  9. Items with built-in alarm devices (suitcases, etc.).
  10. Magnetized substances.
  11. Other substances that pose a potential threat to both passengers and crew of the aircraft.

A complete list of things that are prohibited and that are not recommended to be taken in luggage and transported on board an aircraft is available for viewing on the official resource of each airline and is constantly updated.

Detected prohibited items are confiscated, and the decision on the possibility of flying remains with airport employees (the outcome of the situation depends on the type and quantity of prohibited substances).

Permissible weight and excess baggage at Aeroflot airline in 2019

Aeroflot airline is guided by carriage standards based on the number of seats system. Each passenger is given the opportunity to transport a suitcase or bag in 1 seat, while the weight of checked luggage should not exceed 23 kg.

Subject to the “Premium” tariff for the purchase of tickets in basic economy class, then 1 passenger is provided with 2 seats, a lot of things, which should not exceed 23 kg. The same rule applies to comfort class ticket holders. In business class, this figure should not exceed 32 kg.

For economy and comfort class passengers, the airline provides 1 seat, the intended purpose of which is to transport hand luggage with a maximum weight of up to 10 kg; for business class ticket holders, the maximum weight is 15 kg.

Each ticket indicates “1рс”, where the number indicates that it is possible (allowed) to carry a certain number of suitcases (1-3), taking into account the items transported in the cabin.

For some air carriers, excess weight by 1-2 kg is not considered a significant excess of the norm, but for others, an excess of 1 kg can cost the passenger several tens of euros.

What can you take in luggage on a plane?

All items that do not belong to the list of prohibited items for transportation and do not exceed the current standards, both in size and in dimensions and weight, can be accepted on board the airliner as baggage.

If you are carrying non-standard luggage (large, fragile or especially valuable), then this issue must be discussed and clarified when booking or purchasing a ticket, so as not to encounter prohibitions at the moment when you are already checking in your bags before check-in.

Important! A wheelchair, as a means of transportation, can be carried both in the aircraft cabin and in the cargo compartment. For detailed information, it is best to contact the airport staff in advance to ensure that all documents are completed correctly.

Allowed baggage on the plane

More detailed information about general rules, lists of additional items, prohibited items and current restrictions can be found on the official website of the air carrier company.

Despite the fact that all airlines operate according to the same rules, there are differences, such as maximum baggage and hand luggage limits, tariffs for excess baggage, features of transporting alcohol and many other equally important points.

How much to pay extra for luggage

Most passengers wonder how much baggage costs on an airplane. In the practice of most companies specializing in air transportation, baggage transportation according to the standards is free, but many set their own rules and may be billed for additional pieces of baggage in the cargo compartment, excess baggage on the plane, etc.

For example, Aeroflot airline has a rule that if a passenger’s baggage exceeds the norm, both in terms of the amount of space, and in size and weight, then it automatically falls into the category of excess baggage, for the carriage of which an additional payment is established:

  • For taking the 2nd place if there is 1st free, the cost of the 1st place is 2500 rubles, and each subsequent place is 7500 rubles.
  • For taking the 3rd place if there are 2 free places, you will have to pay 7,500 rubles.
  • For excess weight of luggage (1 piece), but not more than 32 kg - the cost of luggage, or rather the additional payment for it, is 2500 rubles.
  • For excess baggage weight (1 piece) within the range of 32-50 kg, you must pay 5,000 rubles.
  • For exceeding the norms for the dimensions of carried luggage, when the amount does not exceed 2.03 m, you must pay 5,000 rubles.
  • For exceeding the permitted baggage size limits, when the total amount exceeds 2.03 m, you must pay 7,500 rubles for each piece.

You can pay for paid baggage on the plane immediately before departure at a nearby window located not far from the check-in counters. You can always find out about the exact location from the airport staff.

Before your flight, be sure to visit the official website of the airline whose services you decide to use.

It contains all the information that passengers are interested in, whether it is possible to bring certain products on board, what can be put in a suitcase and what is better to leave with you, what the price is for certain services and much other information useful for everyone, giving an exact understanding of how to pack luggage in airplane.

Aeroflot airline takes baggage into account according to special rules, and is one of the most famous Russian carriers. This company has certain requirements for luggage that is on board aircraft during flights.

Baggage Definition

Passengers take certain things with them on board the plane. All this must be sorted for the purpose of inspection, careful transportation without disturbing other passengers, and subsequently handed over to the owner. All luggage can be divided into two parts, which is indicated by the terms:

  1. Hand luggage. These are things that a passenger can bring into the cabin and leave there until the end of the flight.
  2. Baggage. A bag, suitcase or other container that is handed over to employees upon check-in at the airport.

Aeroflot requirements for hand luggage

Aeroflot is one of the most loyal companies that have low requirements for hand luggage. Each passenger can bring up to 10 kg of hand luggage into the cabin, and people who have purchased a business class ticket have the right to take up to 15 kg of hand luggage with them. The limitation is the maximum dimensions inherent in carry-on luggage items. Three sides of objects together cannot exceed 115 cm.

In addition to the basic hand luggage included in the above parameters, each passenger can additionally take with him the following things:

  1. with small dimensions and without protruding parts. Men can take a special briefcase, which should also be of moderate size and fit on the back. Large travel briefcases are inappropriate.
  2. It can not be placed in other containers, but left in your hands.
  3. Umbrella. Any variety of this item in length and width is available. The exception is the beach umbrella.
  4. Cane or crutches.
  5. Flowers. You can even take a large bouquet, but there should not be a strong smell.
  6. Outerwear is brought in in moderate quantities with virtually no restrictions on size.
  7. Digital devices. You can freely carry a camera, laptop, as well as a phone, even a professional video camera.
  8. Printed products so passengers can read on the go.
  9. Baby food if you are bringing a small child with you.
  10. A container for placing a small child, such as a cradle.
  11. Clothes in a suitcase. Usually a dress or business suit is placed there.
  12. Any purchases from Duty Free.

Features of luggage transportation

Many passengers choose Aeroflot. Baggage is an integral part of the flight, so several years ago its leaders decided to simplify the rules for transporting baggage. This action is not considered successful, since a large number of passengers have many questions, dissatisfaction, and also unclear details have emerged that require resolution in each specific case. Previously, a simple weight system was used. If luggage exceeded the required parameters, you had to pay extra for its transportation. At the moment, the count is based on the number of places. Now, along with the weight, workers calculate this indicator.

What is free baggage allowance on an airplane? Aeroflot has introduced several nominal values:

  1. Economy class has one seat available at the standard fare and is allowed to carry luggage with a total weight of up to 23 kg.
  2. Economy class, a ticket for which was purchased at the Premium Economy and Premium Comfort fares, provides two pieces of luggage space. Aeroflot also regulates the weight of luggage on each of them, so it should not exceed 23 kg.
  3. Business class allows you to slightly increase the weight to 32 kg, but leaves the right to 2 seats.

Exceptions to the rules

When flying between the United States (excluding Miami), the Middle and Far East, Asia (excluding the Russian Federation and some other countries), Africa, India, in economy class seats, passengers can take 2 pieces of luggage at a standard 23 kg each. The Aeroflot company allows you to store your luggage in excellent conditions and offers many programs, with participation in which people can take extra space for things absolutely free.

It should be remembered that in addition to weight, there are also restrictions on dimensions, so before collecting all the luggage, you should check whether it complies with acceptable standards. A suitcase, bag or other container is measured using three parameters, which typically include length, height and width. Then the information received is summarized. The resulting value should not exceed 158 cm, otherwise an additional payment must be made. From this aspect you can see how much control Aeroflot has over luggage.

Baggage transportation rules for passengers with children

Children aged 2-12 years are allowed to carry the same amount of baggage as adults. When a flight is carried out with an infant, that is, with a person under 2 years of age, the person has the right to take a separate piece of luggage. At the same time, the things placed in it should not exceed 10 kg in total, and the total dimensions of the three sides are no more than 115 cm, that is, the weight of luggage on an Aeroflot plane is clearly regulated.

Paid baggage transportation on Aeroflot flights

Exceeding at least one parameter for free baggage transportation obliges a person to pay for the opportunity to fly with all the necessary things. If the weight of either or an individual bag becomes higher than the allotted norm, it is necessary to return the items to the escort or pay for their transportation, so the decision should be made quickly, which is regulated by the rules of the Aeroflot company. Carry-on luggage is the most problematic part of the flight.

Excess baggage by number of pieces

To better understand this aspect, we can imagine an example situation. A man is flying with two suitcases weighing 10 kg and 13 kg. If he is in economy class and does not use special programs, the excess number of seats is recorded. It doesn’t matter what Aeroflot considers the total weight of luggage to be acceptable, since two bags or suitcases nominally take up exactly two spaces.

To get out of this situation, you need to purchase additional space. Depending on the country from which the flight takes place, a person will be forced to pay 50 euros or 50 dollars. When a ticket is purchased at Premium Economy or Comfort fares, as well as when flying in business class, third seat will cost 150 euros or dollars. These tariffs were developed by Aeroflot specialists. The luggage is stored in excellent conditions.

Excess weight

This aspect is very simple to explain. When a person travels with a suitcase or bag in economy class, the total weight of which together with the contents is more than 23 kg, it is necessary to pay extra for excess weight.

Even if the passenger is entitled to two seats, but has only one bag, he will have to pay extra. For business class, this limit rises to 32 kg, but if it is exceeded, you will also have to pay separately for the opportunity to transport things when flying on airplanes from Aeroflot. The rules allow baggage to be transported only according to established standards.

Previously, when fixing an excess, a person had to pay extra for each extra kilogram. At the moment, these rules have changed. The excess is paid in the amount of $50, and its size is not important. When flying in business class, a person must shell out an extra $100.

In order to avoid getting into unpleasant and unexpected situations, you must familiarize yourself with the baggage transportation rules before your flight and take all necessary actions in advance and prepare to comply with the requirements.

From February 11, 2018. After a more stringent check of the requirements for hand luggage by a calibrator, many passengers’ hand luggage no longer corresponded to Aeroflot’s dimensions of 55x40x20 cm. It is worth noting that the dimensions of hand luggage did not change, the airline simply began to check them more strictly.

Stricter controls on the size of hand luggage have caused dissatisfaction among many passengers. Many bag manufacturers sell bags specifically for carry-on luggage (Cabin Size) measuring 55x40x25, which did not fit.

Update: From February 26, 2018, Aeroflot airline increased the carry-on baggage allowance by 5 cm: from 55x40x20 to 55x40x25 cm. The rest of the rules remained unchanged, including the list of things that can be taken on board the plane for free outside of hand luggage.

Carry-on baggage sizes

Aeroflot has allowed free carriage in economy class of hand luggage weighing up to 10 kg with dimensions of 55 × 40 × 20 25 centimeters. In business class, hand luggage can weigh up to 15 kg, the same size as in economy class.

What can no longer be carried for free?

According to Aeroflot reports, the carry-on baggage allowance has not changed, but this turned out not to be the case. The list of items allowed for free transportation has changed. Now it has become compliant with the new FAPs (Federal Aviation Rules), which were adopted on October 5, 2017 by the Russian Ministry of Transport.

On social networks, the airline published a list of permitted items that can be taken on board at no additional cost. The following items were removed from it: a cane-umbrella, a camera and a laptop. The carriage of goods from Duty Free was also limited to 1 sealed package. Those. Previously, the listed items could be carried free of charge in “hands” if they did not fit in hand luggage (bag or backpack), but now this cannot be done.

Musical instruments

The carrier has added to the free carriage in hand luggage a musical instrument whose size in the sum of three dimensions does not exceed 135 cm (previously it was no more than 115 cm). The musical instrument must be the only piece of hand luggage; all other items must be checked in the luggage compartment.

The note is written on the basis of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and will help to better understand the rules of Russian airlines and the rights of passengers. New FAPs were updated last year and determine the minimum weight of hand luggage and baggage, their dimensions, as well as which items of baggage can be carried free of charge on board Russian airlines.

For 2019, Aeroflot has left the maximum standards for the size and weight of hand luggage and baggage checked for transportation on an airplane unchanged. Restrictions on the number of seats, maximum weight and dimensions, known to experienced travelers, remain relevant. All baggage and carry-on baggage allowances vary depending on the class of service, and if they are exceeded, an additional fee will be charged.

Aeroflot traditionally classifies as hand luggage all items that are carried by passengers, can be safely placed in the cabin and meet the established requirements. Responsibility for their condition and the damage caused by them rests entirely with the client. During the check-in process, hand luggage is weighed and checked for size.

Number of seats

For things of this category, no more than one place is allocated on the company’s airliners, regardless of class. In other words, one passenger is allowed to take one bag into the cabin. If the flight is carried out by a family, the number of seats corresponds to the number of its members for whom individual seats are booked, regardless of age.

Limit dimensions

As a general rule, the size of hand luggage should allow it to be placed under the seat in front or on the top shelf. At Aeroflot, the maximum permissible dimensions for length, width and height are 55x40x25, respectively. The sum of three dimensions is 120 centimeters for any tariff.

Permissible weight

The weight of hand luggage for transportation on an Aeroflot aircraft is determined depending on the class. For clients flying at the Business fare, the permissible weight per seat does not exceed 15 kilograms. Economy and Comfort class provide the opportunity to take no more than 10 kilograms per seat on the plane.

Personal items

Aeroflot, like other carriers, allows its customers to take some things into the cabin without taking into account these restrictions. They are considered personal and are not taken into account when weighing. The list includes:

  • briefcases and women's handbags;
  • Cell phones;
  • laptop computers, video and photographic equipment;
  • business papers in a folder;
  • books, newspapers and magazines;
  • shopping bag from Duty Free.

This list is much longer; a more detailed list can be found on the airline’s website.

Non-standard things

The list of goods allowed for free transportation in the cabin contains items that do not meet the weight standard. These are special wheelchairs for the disabled and baby strollers that are used by the client. They will need to be handed over to the flight attendant at the entrance to the cabin. If the wheelchair has an electric drive and weighs more than 32 kilos, prior approval is required, no later than 36 hours before departure (schedule time is taken into account). Mandatory approval will be required for the transportation of all musical instruments, regardless of their size. Of the animals, only a guide dog is allowed to fly free of charge in the cabin if they have the appropriate documents (certificate and veterinary certificate). Flights in the cabin with other animals are permitted only in a special container, the weight of which together with the animal does not exceed 8 kilograms.

Other restrictions

In addition to the items listed for this category, there are restrictions on the volume of liquids and compositions equivalent to it. This applies to drinking water, alcoholic beverages, and cosmetics. The total volume of such substances cannot exceed a liter; all liquids must be poured into containers no larger than 100 ml. The following are not allowed for transportation in the aircraft cabin:

  • all types of weapons and ammunition, items imitating them;
  • hazardous chemicals (toxic, flammable, explosive);
  • objects capable of causing cut wounds;
  • things and devices containing magnets or magnetized components.

Some of these items can only be carried in checked baggage, while others are completely prohibited for air travel. You can find out the list and details of restrictions on the website or from the contact center staff.

Baggage requirements

In the baggage category, Aeroflot includes items that exceed the weight and size characteristics of hand luggage and are transported in the baggage compartment on the plane. Items in this category are registered according to the piece system, taking into account the above parameters. Dimensions, weight, and number of seats are differentiated in accordance with the rules for using a certain tariff.

Number of seats and size restrictions

For Business, Comfort and Economy Premium fares, two seats are provided per ticket. According to the norms of the economy tariff group, this option is limited to one seat. If the total weight of checked items is less than 10 kilograms, the number of free baggage spaces is not limited. On the ticket, their number is usually indicated under the abbreviation PC (Piece Plan) with the corresponding number. Acceptable dimensions in all cases should not exceed 158 centimeters in the sum of three dimensions (W*H*D).

Weight restrictions

The allowed weight of baggage on an airplane varies depending on the fare. The limit for the Business group is 32 kilograms. For other groups, including Comfort, weight restrictions are more stringent. In this case, you can transport no more than 23 kilograms per person. For minors, standards similar to those for adults apply. These requirements may vary depending on the flight, so before the flight it is advisable to clarify what weight you can take with you through the carrier’s contact center.

Exceeding the norm

All cases of excess baggage are registered as excess baggage. The calculation is carried out for each parameter; if an excess is allowed for all requirements, the cost of transportation will be determined based on the total amount. Additional payment required:

Non-standard cargo

Special transportation rules apply to heavy and/or oversized cargo. This category consists of objects weighing from 32 to 50 kilos, with dimensions no more than 203 centimeters in the sum of length, width and height. The following sports equipment is considered as one piece of luggage allowed for free transportation:

  • a set of skis with poles and boots in a case;
  • a covered snowboard with a pair of boots;
  • a pair of clubs in a case with packed equipment;
  • bicycle prepared for transportation;
  • covered golf equipment;
  • a pair of rods with a set of tackle in appropriate packaging.

In addition to sports equipment, the list of non-standard luggage includes weapons with ammunition, various types of musical instruments, and animals. The non-standard category may include packaging that is usual for travelers; for example, if the weight and size characteristics of a suitcase exceed the permissible limits, it is considered oversized. The rules for transporting this category of cargo must be clarified with employees or on the airline’s website.
