In the city of Biysk, located in the Altai Territory, which is undoubtedly closer to the Chinese Mongolian and Kazakh borders than to the capital, a building Passage of the merchant of the first guild Mikhail Klevtsov is the real power of history, for it symbolizes the conquest of the outlying Russian lands by merchants. The building was built in 1890 near the local bazaar and was the first shopping center cities. It was performed in an "eclectic" style, characteristic of the time, in which the pleasures of all eras, European and Russian architectural motifs, ostentatious splendor and bragging were mixed. Klevtsov Passage became a meeting place for local dandies who ordered Chinese silks here to sew dresses in Parisian fashion. But the onslaught of revolutionary sentiments, the gallery could not stand it and went bankrupt, caught up in the whirlwind of reforms. Before the Second World War, Altai University and the workshop of the famous sculptor, then the municipal library and the training academy of young collective farmers were sheltered here. They say that Mr. Klevtsov continued to hide his gold in basements, which certainly attracted the attention of the Siberian Chekists in the dark thirties. The merchant was arrested, his traces were lost in history. 1941 to 2005 Klevtsov Passage served as a military hospital. Today the building, although it retains its splendor, is gradually and inexorably destroyed, since its administrative ownership cannot be divided between the Ministry of Defense and the city authorities.

Merchant Klevtsov's Passage located at: Altai region, Biysk, st. Tolstoy, 119.

The building of the old Tverskoy railway station

In Tver or Soviet Kalinin, 163 km north-west of Moscow, on the way to St. railway station, which is a grand and tragic sight. Built in 1938 at the confluence of the Volga with its tributary Tvertsa, the Stalinist neo-imperial building with a total capacity of 550 passengers served the entire Soviet period of history and continued to function until the early 2000s. Since then, the majestic building, which possesses a certain harmony, austere and imposing at the same time, began to rapidly collapse like a decrepit, absurd throne. The famous gallery owner Marat Gelman, who did a lot for the cultural revival of Perm, back in 2011 stressed that it was necessary to think about the new purpose of this magnificent building on the water and its reconstruction under Cultural Center as its roof already requires a complete restoration. But until now, nothing has been done - the railway station is dying, losing the irresistible charm of post-colonial cities, under the supervision of the last and only guards - stray dogs. Maybe the building is just paying for what was built on the site of the destroyed monastery? Even photographs from the Soviet era neatly hide the nearby church, the only remnant of an old religious architectural complex.

The old Tverskoy station is located at: Moscow region, Tver, nab. Afanasy Nikitin, 3.

Half-timbered house or the house of Osip Girschfeld

The center of the city of Samara, a southern Russian fortress on the Volga, hides a house unique from the point of view of Russian architecture, which tells the story of a very remarkable character. German Jew Osip Girschfeld comes from small town Exactly arrives in Samara after completing his studies in Kazan. A very young lawyer is hired by a small firm, where he begins to work even with thieves, believing that everyone has the right to defense. He finds himself in the midst of revolutionary-minded youth who begin to visit his apartment too often. Therefore, he decides to leave this society and densely pursue a career that is developing very successfully. In the house that he bought in 1903 on Frunze Street (old Saratov Street), he more and more often misses his homeland and even brings German servants with whom he behaves on equal terms. He gets into the club of local German colonists and helps his compatriots with money a lot. For this, as a token of gratitude, the German community is building a new half-timbered wing in the courtyard of his house, very special, with a small tower and a bay window. This kind of architectural UFO, from which Europe would inevitably have created a museum for a long time, is being destroyed more and more every year, and its only connoisseurs are fans of unusual tourism.

Half-timbered housesituated at the address: Samara, st. Frunze, 75.

Elsa's dacha

In the city of Pyatigorsk, which is located at the edge of the Caucasus, the so-called " Elsa's dacha”Continues to intrigue with its story - fascinating and deadly. The popular confectioner Arshak Gukasov, arriving from Baku, found success, luck and love in this resort town- Elizaveta Vlasyevna, daughter of a wealthy German merchant. In 1905, the couple built a luxurious 62-room mansion, outwardly similar to medieval castle, which became a popular guesthouse called " Elsa's dacha". The Gukasovs furnished the boarding house according to the latest squeak of fashion, but their love was powerless in the face of the problem of infertility. After the divorce, Elsa was left alone and tried to forget herself in work and social entertainment. They say that then a beautiful woman began to communicate with dark forces in order to get good luck in business. Rumors are also full of stories about her death: either it was a suicide, or the Bolsheviks burned and immured her in their own boarding school, because she did not want to give up her treasures. There are different versions of the legend, but they agree on one thing, Elsa never found peace, she still wanders outside the walls of her castle, terrorizing men and inspiring women. " Elsa's dacha»Today belongs to a certain businessman who wants to restore it, but does not do it, despite the recognition of the building as an object architectural heritage regional significance. The castle is already half in ruins, and today continues to attract fans of ghost stories, poets and devotees of satanic rituals.

Blast furnaces of the village of Mezhevoy

In the vicinity of Satki, 200 km north-west of Chelyabinsk, in the very heart of the industrial and mountainous Urals, the remains of the first metallurgical plants look great in the surrounding natural landscapes, absolutely without disturbing the harmony. Brick cylinders of old ovens Satsky metallurgical plant- still working - as if they came straight out of the earth, like strange giant trees, traces of urban civilization, lost among the hills. The Satka plant was the first metalworking production in the region, which was founded at the end of the 18th century by the Stroganov merchant dynasty together with the city. All of its inhabitants worked at this plant. Factory in Satka after the first industrialization went through many trials: the popular uprisings of Pugachev, the construction of the first dams and power plants, the rapid successes and equally rapid bankruptcies of the great founders of Russian industry, the transition to state property in the early nineteenth century, orders for the production of weapons and ammunition in different time war. Now only pipes are left from the large production, on the masonry of which you can read its history.

The stoves are located in the village of Mezhevoy, not far from Satki town, in the Chelyabinsk region.

Atomic lighthouse at Cape Aniva

Sivuchya rock, which is located on the southern tip of Sakhalin Island, has always had a reputation dangerous place for sailors. Here thick fogs descend and currents converge. built with great difficulty in 1939 according to the project of the architect Miura Shinobu... The lighthouse was unique, the most complex technical structure in the whole of Sakhalin. The building also operated on a diesel generator with additional accumulators, and on a nuclear power source. However, the main mechanism, passing through the entire structure from top to bottom, was a weight-bearing pendulum weighing 270 kilograms, wound up every three hours to move the optical system. The maintenance of such an installation at the beginning of the 21st century was recognized as economically unprofitable. The isotope installations were taken out by the military, the rest was taken away by looters. It once shone 17.5 miles around, but now it is plundered and desolate.

The estate of the architect Khrenov

Around Lykoshino station, which is not far from the city of Valdai, Tver region, is located abandoned estate Conclusion... She appeared in this quiet corner on the shore of a forest lake around the middle of the 19th century by order of the St. Petersburg architect A.S. Khrenov, who wanted to retire among the woodlands to draw inspiration from nature. It is believed that estate Conclusion was built according to the architect's own design. The project was very extravagant for the countryside, as it looked like a medieval European castle. In addition, the structure was asymmetrical and was built from a wide variety of materials: brick was combined with stone, wood and metal. The estate gradually expanded with new buildings, but Khrenov's house remained the most unusual building. Its owner, Alexander Sergeevich, having played enough with a new toy, packed his suitcases and moved to China for permanent residence. V estate Conclusion the pioneer camp arrived, and bright representatives of that era immediately appeared in the park - concrete boys and girls in ties. After the pioneer camp, there was a tuberculosis sanatorium, after which to this day lovers of creepy stories talk about a certain evil old man who died within the walls of the sanatorium and is still wandering around the rooms.

The estate of the architect Khrenov is located near the village of Lykoshino, Bologovsky district, Tver region.

Khrapovitsky's estate

In the village of Muromtsevo, which is just a few kilometers from the city of Sudogda, Vladimir region, on 40 hectares of land there is a gorgeous with a huge lock in the middle. This manor complex can be safely called an example of Russian pride, because it was built solely in order to win a frivolous bet between the nobles. According to legend, the colonel argued with a certain French baron that he would be able to build a castle in Russia that would not be inferior in grandeur to the French. The Frenchman, however, mockingly replied that if such a castle is built in Russia, he himself will come to see it. Returning home, the colonel immediately hired one of the best architects of that time - P.S. Boytsov. The estate, built in the style of a medieval German castle with a hint of a French chateau, was an architectural anomaly for the Russian landscape. And as far as we know, the Frenchman fulfilled his part of the bet - he really came on a visit. Unfortunately, after the revolution, Khrapovitsky was forced to flee his luxurious creation and, as they say, died in poverty. At first, a school was located in his exquisite estate, during the Great Patriotic War it became a hospital, but in the end it was abandoned. And only in the last few years have they begun to gradually restore it.

Khrapovitsky's estate is located: Vladimir region, Sudogodsky district, pos. Muromtsevo.

I was really looking forward to this excursion! Six months before the trip, I already knew that we would definitely visit it! We were alone with my husband. We spent 8 hours very comfortably. George is a well-read man, not a single question put him in a dead end, he quoted poets, told, apart from facts, also legends, speculation. Interesting, informative, calm and very beautiful !!! very much! We walked everywhere, bypassed not only the estates themselves, but also the adjacent parks. George was everywhere with us, drove secret paths, commented ... and at the same time was invisible and unobtrusive, we had our own time for contemplation and photography. A wonderful excursion, I advise everyone!

Recently, we took a tour of the abandoned estates. And I can say that we definitely did not regret it! We would never see it ourselves and would not know what beauties we have or were very close to home. We, as modern people, so often strive to other countries and other continents, but how often we do not know and do not appreciate our history, our native places. We are very grateful to George for our enlightenment. I really liked that he not only completed the program, but also went beyond its borders, showed and talked about the sights that were along the way and not so much. It can be seen that George is rooting for the disappearing heroes of his excursion, doing his work with soul. I really hope that there will be more such informal excursions over time, which will allow us and our children to get to know our wonderful city much deeper and it will also not be boring)

We went on this excursion, relying on the description and reviews, very much hoped for an exciting journey, but, as they say, apparently not destiny. The tour, at our request, has been reduced to a visit to two sites. 4 hours of excursion for 20 minutes to the object and three hours and twenty minutes on the road. Georgy, it is clear that a person who is knowledgeable and interested cannot tell and drive in parallel, several times we almost got into an accident. Therefore, in the course of the movement, we did not ask him about anything. Absolutely short description in place. My foreign guests called it the worst time in St. Petersburg, and I really wanted to show them something unusual. The idea is interesting, but the organization is "in Russian". If you hire a driver so that you can talk along the way, and a more comfortable car, the impressions will probably be more positive.

Hello! Can I write a response to user Artem to this review?
Dear Artem! I'm sorry you didn't like the tour. However, several points need to be canceled: you did not warn me that you only have 4 hours for the excursion instead of the planned 8. You asked me to pick you up from the hotel on Nevsky and I went to meet you, which increased the road to leave the city for an hour. This tour always ends at the Moskovskaya metro station. However, your acquaintances needed much further and we spent another hour in traffic jams just to take them from Moskovskaya to the desired address. Thus, 2 hours or even more of the 4 that you yourself took from the very beginning on the excursion went to the delivery of your guests and it was not at all my fault.
I don’t know what you mean by an accident, but we didn’t get into it and in 10 years of driving I have not had any accidents, thank God. Finally, you paid me significantly less than the amount indicated for the excursion and I, as you put it, in a purely Russian way, agreed with this, although the time of the excursion was reduced through no fault of my own, and in the end I spent no less than usual. I also disagree with the fact that I talked little about objects, I talked constantly, just your guests and you walked in different directions and did not listen to me at the same time.
I think that when country trips you need to better plan your time. I wish you a pleasant experience and travel!

Super tour from start to finish. The places were wonderful, and were brought to life by Georgi, who was very prepared, and knew detail upon detail. He also speaks English, which was a bonus we hadn "t expected.

A wonderful excursion from start to finish. The places through which Georgy led us just came to life. George told a lot interesting facts, accompanied the story with unique old photographs, answered any questions. He spoke English, which was a bonus we didn't expect. Many thanks!

I liked the excursion very much. The travel plan is well drawn up, the historical material is excellently presented, this is the story itself about the estates and their inhabitants, and additional photographs, and an excellent foundation for the future. I would like to repeatedly visit these places, for example, in the summer, take a walk in the parks, feel the grandeur of the former pearls of architecture, feel the spirit of the era. Of course, at the sight of the current state of buildings, a quiet sadness grips the soul. It is a pity, to be sure, when what is really worthwhile and beautiful is destroyed. Thanks a lot to George, both for the organization, for the presentation of history, and for the discovery of such a direction in general.

I recommend this excursion! Thank you very much to the guide Georgy for the interesting narratives, attentive attitude to everyone. The day just flew by))) it is a pity that no one is restoring the estates, that they are really abandoned and after some years they will not be at all be sure to visit this excursion - you will not regret it.

Thanks a lot for the tour! Ordered as a gift for a lover of abandoned places. The gift was a success, the lover is delighted! :) Atmospheric places you want to return to. An interesting program. Now we are waiting for "Travel to the world of abandoned estates-2"! :)

No restroom stops. What you warn does not matter when "you want to go to the toilet". There is very little description of the organizational issues. The guide knows the history well enough. But when you slide your finger on your tablet with unremoved seams, your guide hangs on his pants, and he looks as if he drank until the morning, this slightly overwrites the overall impression of the excursion. A lot of smacking, almost at the end of every sentence.
In general: the impressions of the objects of visit are good, it is a pity that everything is being destroyed so quickly, and no one is engaged in restoration. Save the route. The guide can be changed. Thanks.

Dear Anastasia, thanks for the four stars! I will definitely take into account your criticism and will focus on going to the restroom before leaving. Our route is structured in such a way that in the middle of the trip, the whole group has lunch and visits to the toilet in Kirche. There are two latrines "M" and "Zh" there. If there are additional requests, I usually stop at a gas station. I will, as I said, accentuate this moment on the bus so that everyone knows that we have a toilet!)

As for the rest, I will give you an example. Unfortunately, I do not remember you personally, but I remember that during the last excursion, one girl was very unhappy with the fact that she paid 200 rubles for a three-course dinner, but she did not like the naval pasta and wanted another dish. There was no dining room in Kirch and there were no other dishes. But especially for her, the priest's wife cooked buckwheat porridge with meat and the whole group waited for the client to finish eating.

I gave this example just to say that we are really trying to make you enjoy everything. I personally developed this, without exaggeration, a unique route, collected information about the collapsing buildings and will try to make the excursion as best as possible, taking into account your criticism.

Excellent excursion! Time flew by quickly. Thanks to Georgy!

Thank you so much for the "Abandoned Manors" excursion. I liked everything very much: excellent organization, comfortable bus, interesting and erudite guide, majestic estates, gorgeous nature, weather and delicious lunch at the Church of St. John the Baptist .... All this gave me a good mood, a wonderful day off and beautiful photos. I recommend to everyone!

I visited an exciting excursion "Abandoned estates" and was not only satisfied, but under a great impression! Wonderful guide George, great organization, amazing event and even the weather, I was pleasantly surprised! The time on the way flew by quickly, we still remember my little adventure)) Free time for photographing, also turned out to be a very good bonus, photographs from the excursion turned out to be very picturesque. Thank you very much!

I liked everything very much, thank you very much
