White Sand Beach in Bali is the only normal swimming beach. Chandidasa - a pearl in east Bali and White Sand Beach - the most pleasant white sand beach

Virgin beach, also known as White Sand Beach (Balinese name - Pasir Putih) is the only white sandy beach in the east of Bali. This area is dominated by coastal areas with gray-black volcanic sand or boulders. Dark blotches of characteristic volcanic sand can be seen along the ebb and flow lines of White Sand Beach.

This picturesque beach hidden from strangers. Locals claim that it looks exactly the same as it did in the 1970s, when the first foreign holidaymakers began to arrive on the island. Due to its remoteness from the main resort centers, Virgin Beach is not crowded, and tourists looking for seclusion after the crowded beaches of Kuta and Sanur in the south come here.

In addition, White Sand Beach is one of the few beaches in Bali where there are relatively calm areas without waves (you can swim), but with enough surfing space.

It is located 8 km northeast of Chandidasa and 8 km north of Amlapura in Karangasem district.

There are a couple of eateries and shops along the coast, offering snacks, drinks, renting umbrellas and sun loungers - that's all the infrastructure. There are no hotels, villas or other accommodation options on the first line, but you can find resort accommodation within a 2 km radius of the Virgin Beach so that you can get there on foot. How to get to White Sand Beach in Bali

The main road of the coastal area, 2 km from Virgin Beach, is Jl. Raya Bugbug. In the Pertima area, take the narrow Jl road. Pantai Perasi, leading to the bank, there is even a sign at the right turn. Drive along a country road for about a kilometer. It will be possible to park vehicles within walking distance from the beach, in the shade of trees. When traveling light, it will be more convenient to rent a scooter to drive as close to the beach as possible and easily find a parking spot.

There are also Perama buses in the right direction. You need to find out about the availability of flights on the official website.

From the airport and, in general, when traveling from the Bukit Peninsula and with bulky luggage, it will be more convenient to use the services of a local blue taxi (be sure to ask to turn on the meter or agree on the amount in advance) or order a transfer.

There is a barrier in front of the descent to the beach, and the entrance is paid - 10,000 IDR per person.

Video: Virgin Beach in Bali review

After Bali, we decided to move to Thailand on the island of Koh Samui.

But since during the month of my stay on this beautiful island, I did not look at a single attraction, because studying remote work took a lot of time, I carved out the last day of my stay here and decided to go to the beach.

This trip was accompanied by my friend and guide. He had lived on the island for more than a month and knew all the beautiful and hidden corners of the island of the Gods.

When I said that during my 3 weeks stay here, I hadn’t visited any beach. He was very surprised and said that he would take me to the most beautiful beach in Indonesia - White sand beach.

From the very morning on a motorbike, we kept our way to eastern part islands towards the city of Candidasa. From Ubud to Chandidasa about 1.5 - 2 hours drive. It is near this city that such a beautiful and secret beach is located. Few people know about it, so it is very secluded and romantic here.

I saw the snow-white sand, I was caressed by the deep blue waves that merge with the horizon, bright sun and surrounded by endlessly beautiful vegetation.

This is just a fascinating place that will captivate with its beauty. And my love for this island increased many times after I visited White sand beach.

We spent the whole day swimming here, basking in the warm sun, eating delicious fresh seafood and just enjoying the moment.

It's just amazing here! And if you ever want to visit Bali, then 1 of the items compulsory attendance I recommend White sand beach with its unprecedented beauty, warm and small waves, white sand and cuisine that will make you lick your fingers.

There are plenty of waterfront cafes here that cook whatever you want. Just caught fish, squid, shrimp. Mmmm…. There are no words!

The first acquaintance with the beach of the Island of the Gods passed with a bang! I got so many positive emotions: I ran along the beach like a child, Zhenya taught me how to swim in the sea, which was the first time for me, walked along the beach and caught moments of happiness and unlimited freedom.

And in the evening, local schoolchildren came to the beach to relax. We managed to play beach volleyball with them. It was fun! And later they all took pictures with Zhenya. In Indonesia, there is a belief that if you touch a white person, you will be lucky all year round. So Zhenya that evening was just snapped up))

And later we went home to Ubud. This is how wonderful my last day in Bali was on my first visit to such a wonderful island.

Thanks to Evgeny Vanin for the sea of positive emotions that he gave me on this day.

I dedicate this article to our beloved beach and cafe. Unfortunately, we have few photos from this beach. For some reason, here we relaxed more than explored. Probably the atmosphere is like that. White Sand Beach is the only beach we have visited several times :) And the Bali sea always delighted us with small waves that allowed us to swim. The sand on the beach is mostly white, but sometimes black - volcanic - is shown.

There are several cafes in which they constantly come up with different ways to lure tourists: either a free dessert, or a mask with a snorkel, or a discount, or a sunbed. We intuitively chose Virgin Cafe and it was right.

Virgin cafe
They give free sun beds, tasty food, prices are reasonable and a dessert as a gift :))) The cost of our dishes: 60,000 rupees ($ 5) for a fillet of Mahi-Mahi fish ( or golden mackerel, which can be up to 2 meters long !!!), and 70,000 rupees ($ 6) - for the White Snapper fish ( snapper), which is also called "sea bass". There is also the Red Snapper and you can order it in this cafe too. Grilled fish is prepared and served with 4 types of sauces, fries (or rice) and vegetables (asparagus beans and carrots). Mahi-Mazi turned out to be drier than Snapper. But both fish are delicious. Fresh prices are 12,000 rupees ($ 1).
Roasted peanuts are brought in while the main course is being prepared. At the end, we were served a dessert-gift: fruits and bananas fried in batter. The place is wonderful - I recommend it :)

When the weather permits and there are no waves, White Sand Beach will show you the wonderful underwater world. Especially if you swim to this island:

Visitors to White Sand Beach are not frightened even by the rain:

Kids frolic in the water
The entrance to the beach is paid - 3000 rupees per person. Parking - 2000 rupees.

Vespa mopeds
The next time, the road was completely dug so that it was impossible to pass, not to pass, and the package was moved to another place. Here is such a fight against "hares". But the third time we figured out where to put the moped in order to bypass the parking lot, so the struggle was unsuccessful :))

White Sand Beach (or Virgin beach) on the map:

Virgin Beach, or White sand beach in Bali was opened for us by the guys with whom we lived in Ubud at the Villa Santa Mandala (by the way, I highly recommend it).

Quiet Paradise in Bali - White Sand Beach

So, White Sand Beach is not so well known to the average tourist. You can get here thanks to friends who have been living in Bali for a long time. Quiet, emerald white sandy harbor, surrounded by cliffs and picturesque green palm forests.

We came here to relax and get acquainted with another piece of paradise from the Amed beach and plunged into summer, because on Amed, it seemed that autumn had come. πŸ™‚ On the way from Amed Beach to White Sand Beach, we stopped to walk along the shady alleys.

There are no hotels on White Sand Beach and at the entrance you will be charged 3000 rupees. And then an off-road road awaits you, so take a safer car.

On the shore there are cafes where there are many goodies, including fresh grilled fish (for meat-eaters), rice with vegetables or noodles (this is for vegetarians) and gives a watermelon with ranbutans as a gift to order. And for dessert, as always, Balinese coffee.

Welcome πŸ™‚

And here they are - ranbutans

On the beach you can also go snorkeling and swim in coral pools and meditate on colorful fish.

Climb the rocks.

By the way, they say there are considerable waves here, but we did not find them.

The landscape of the beach is decorated with a small island not so far from the coast.

Our guys on the beach also had fun like this:

Feast or Pass πŸ™‚

Beach pleasures

On White Sand Beach, you can just lie on a sun lounger under an umbrella and get a massage, 7,000 rupees and an hour of relaxation.

We also got caught here in a tropical downpour.

Happiness πŸ™‚

And just at this time a flock of dolphins came close to the shore.

And I was glad about the wonderful Balinese girl and managed to capture her. Children in all countries and at all times are amusing.

We spent a wonderful day on White Sand Beach, completely surrendering to the tropical sun by 5 pm we went home to Amed.

Come to Bali, it's true Paradise. πŸ™‚

P.S. Bonus photo of White Sand Beach more and more. πŸ™‚

I have already written that. I like the fact that there is not only a very beautiful turquoise sea, picturesque cliffs, and you can meet stunning sunrises, but also because it is less touristy and therefore calm, devoid of parties, but at the same time it cannot be called a pensioner))

If the southwestern part of the island took over the bulk of package tourists, built up with hotels of various stars, and also, due to the presence, turned out to be occupied by young people, surfers, then they go to the east to take a break from the hustle and bustle, across the clear sea with the underwater world, for snorkeling and diving.

In Candidasa it is impossible to drive past the lotus pond, it is right by the road

The opened lotuses can be observed in the early morning from 6 to 8,

and later some of them are closed, but in principle the pond is picturesque at any time of the day

We always stop here, even if not for long, just for a couple of minutes.

By the way, this huge pond can even be completely bypassed, which we also did more than once,

on the way you can go to the very shore with boats

On the way to Amed, at the exit from Chandidasa, on the right hand, there is a picturesque path up the hill, (I talked about it), and a little further observation deck- a favorite resting place for local dogs, the tile benches are cold even in the heat, so midday nap is fine))

Well, the views are quite impressive.

On the opposite side of the sea, village lands, walking along them sometimes on a clear day, you can see such - the majestic Agung in all its glory

All tourists vacationing in Chandidas are certainly advised to go swimming and swimming at White Sand Beach, but, for those who stay like us, this beach still beckons, so we go to it))

White Sand Beach (White Sand Beach), aka Virgin Beach

This is just an excellent beach, I can tell you))

and in my opinion - one of best beaches white sand, at least in the eastern part of the island

True, at times, here you can find blotches of black sand,

after all, once upon a time, it was a black beach of volcanic origin. Despite this, the water here is of stunning color - blue and transparent,

and if you sail away from the coast, for example, towards that island

you can see a good underwater world - there are corals and tropical fish, so if you come here, take a mask with you. We, for example, always travel with swimming goggles.

Sometimes waves met us here, but this did not interfere with swimming, because you can tumble in them as much as you like, without fear of hitting,

because the bottom here is completely sandy, at least in the central part of the beach, where all the sun loungers are concentrated

In case of strong waves, it will not be possible to appreciate the beauty of the underwater sea and enjoy swimming. By the way, we most often got to it at such a time ((but on the other hand, we admired the waves crashing on the rocks,

and walked along the shore, collecting shells. Sometimes such logs are thrown onto the shore by a wave

The beach is pleasant not only because it is located away from the road, but in general, which is located far from the bulk of the deployment of tourists - in a quiet part of the island, in the east,

and closest tourist area located in Chandidas, which is 15-20 minutes by transport (all points on the map below).

The fact that the beach is far from the village bustle and noise of the road, perhaps, cannot be called a minus, and with a great desire (and money), you can still settle on the shore, there is one private villa, rooms in which, it seems, are rented even by the day, although there are no signs about rent with the owner's phone now,

but according to eyewitnesses, living in the nearest village is much cheaper.

Although, at the same time, I cannot call this beach ideal, let alone a "Bounty style" beach. There are sun loungers and umbrellas, but there are no hanging hammocks

Yes, the coast is framed by beautiful rocks,

in some places there are picturesque stone cliffs,

but alas, there are almost no palm trees here ... but at the same time green

You can relax on sun loungers under umbrellas, of which there are plenty here. All of them belong to cafes, and are free for tourists, the main thing is to order something in a cafe.

The prices in the cafe are about the same, so here it is better to focus on the location (and color =)) of sun loungers and umbrellas, if you want red ones, please

maybe purple or green? Sure, not a problem))

We chose the vacant ones in the first row, 5 meters from the sea. Sometimes I really want to lie around, sipping a coconut or freshly squeezed juices through a tube,

watching the picture "legs opposite the beach"))

Fresh whole fish and grilled seafood can be ordered almost everywhere. The cost is very different, there are for 200 and 400 thousand, but there are dishes and quite at adequate prices πŸ™‚

We ordered a fillet of some kind of fish with vegetables and rice, fish curry and 2 necks, the bill came out to 140 thousand rupees ($ 13)

In some cafes, in addition to Indonesian cuisine, European cuisine is presented, in the farthest from the entrance there is a large selection of Italian dishes, here it is Warung Jepun Bali

Cafes are fighting for every visitor, from many waiters rush out to meet tourists who have just arrived at the beach, we were also intercepted by one enterprising waiter, and maybe the owner. They persuade them in a variety of ways, someone offers a beach towel and, in addition, an additional one for a shower (in all cafes you can use not only a toilet, but also a shower after swimming), someone free rent of a mask with fins, someone a board (not a surfboard, of course , but especially children love to frolic on it in the sea foam).

In addition to cafes, there are a couple of local warungs and shops with tourist goods - swimwear, shorts, flip flops, swimming goggles and masks, some souvenirs

In addition, masseurs are constantly running past the sun loungers, offering their services, we are skeptical about massage on the beach. From the outside, observing how they were doing to our neighbors, I can say that it is very unprofessional, from a series of "stroking expensive things."

If the infrastructure is not needed, you can sunbathe on your poreo right on the sand, and if you move further to the rocks, you can generally be there alone, complete idyll

The only thing is that the bottom under water on the outskirts of the beach is rocky in places, in case of even small waves, I would not dare to swim there

Fishing boats add color to the beach - bright, colorful, colorful,

Several fishermen are on duty here, they offer to swim further into the sea to snorkel or look at the neighboring beach in

V holidays, colorful ceremonies of offerings to the gods are held on the shore, we once got to such a rather unusual one.

It is a pity that then all these offerings, albeit from organic materials, are simply left on the shore, and willingly they end up in the sea, so on the days of ceremonies it is better to just walk along the shore.

Helpful information

The entrance to the beach is paid, but the price is ridiculous 3,000 rupees ($ 0.25) per person, for parking another 2-5 thousand, depending on the vehicle, and even tickets are issued. You can drive up to the beach itself

The nearest hotels are here.

The location of the beach and a map with attractions in the area at the end of the article.

The main thing is not to pass by, although we had coordinates, when we drove for the first time, we missed the turn, it is too inconspicuous. But the signs are hanging there, so look carefully πŸ™‚

The road from the checkpoint goes down the hill, and besides, it is winding and with potholes, so it is not necessary to go to the very bank to the parking lot. We sometimes left the bike just at the entrance, and walked to the beach through the tamarind grove. Each time it was sour, apparently they fell out of season, or maybe just a variety so wild.

There are several interesting sights in this area that you can visit when going here on vacation.

If you want to see everything at once, you can meet in 1-2 trips or a couple of days if you stay in Candidasa.

For those who want to imbue Balinese culture, walk in parks with gazebos, statues and palaces, the path should be kept to Amlapur.

In this area there are 2 water palaces of the Balinese rajah: the ancient one with a royal tomb, views of the mountains and the ocean, and its "younger brother" with numerous fountains, a pond with golden carps and hot springs.

If these palaces are not enough, then take a look at Pura Lempuyang next door, I wrote a little about her in an article about

And, if you need extraordinary views, and at the same time you want active physical activity, there is a stunning trail from which you can see not only Agung, but also other hills, and the ocean with beaches in Chandidas.

If you get tired of White Sand Beach, then you can go to Tulamben, where you can go, well, not so far away is the port town of Padang Bai with diving schools and 3 stunning beaches -

From Padang Bai, you can sail to the neighboring islands of Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembogan, which we did the other day)) I'll tell you more about them.

The beaches described above are marked on the map below, use it for health, if you liked this article or already found it useful, do not forget to like it πŸ™‚
