"Icebreaker". General impressions

In essence, a nuclear icebreaker is a steamer. A nuclear reactor heats water, which turns into steam, which spins up turbines, which excite generators, which generate electricity, which goes to electric motors that turn 3 propellers.

The thickness of the hull in the places where the ice breaks is 5 centimeters, but the strength of the hull is given not so much by the thickness of the skin as by the number and location of the frames. The icebreaker has a double bottom, so that in the event of a hole, water will not flow into the ship.

The atomic icebreaker "50 Let Pobedy" is equipped with 2 nuclear reactors with a capacity of 170 Megawatts each. The capacity of these two plants is sufficient to supply electricity to a city of 2 million people.

Nuclear reactors are reliably protected from accidents and external shocks. The icebreaker can withstand a direct hit into the reactor passenger aircraft or collision with the same icebreaker at speeds up to 10 km / h.

Reactors are filled with new fuel every 5 years!

We had a short excursion around the engine room of the icebreaker, photographs of which are under the cut. Plus, I'll show you where we ate, what we ate, how the rest of us rested. indoor spaces icebreaker ...

The excursion began in the office of the chief engineer. He briefly told about the structure of the icebreaker and where we will go during the excursion. Since there were mostly foreigners in the group, everything was translated first into English and then into Japanese:

2 turbines, each of which rotates 3 generators at the same time, generating alternating current. In the background, the yellow boxes are the rectifiers. Since propeller motors operate on direct current, it must be rectified:

The steering gear looks very impressive. On the bridge, the steering finger turns a small steering wheel, and here huge pistons rotate the steering wheel astern:

The ship provides many degrees of protection against emergency situations. One of them is to extinguish fires with carbon dioxide:

Pure Russian - oil dripping from under the gasket. Instead of replacing the pad, they just hung up the jar. Believe it or not, it's the same at my house. About a year ago, a heated towel rail dripped, so I still haven't replaced it, but just pour out a bucket of water once a week:

The icebreaker is operated by 3 people. The shift lasts 4 hours, that is, each shift is on duty, for example, from 4 pm to 8 pm and from 4 am to 8 am, following from 8 pm to midnight and from 8 am to noon, etc. Only 3 shifts.

The watch consists of the helmsman, who directly turns the steering wheel, the Chief Watch, who gives the commands to the sailor where to turn the helm and is responsible for the entire ship, and the Officer of the Watch, who makes entries in the logbook, marks the position of the ship on the map and helps the Chief of the Watch.

The watchkeeper usually stood in the left wing of the bridge, where all the equipment necessary for navigation was installed. The three large levers in the middle are the handles of the machine telegraphs that control the rotational speed of the screws. Each of them has 41 positions - 20 forward, 20 backward and stop:

The icebreaker has a huge number of ladders, including several representative ones:

The Soviet Historical Encyclopedia, in its article on the "Fifth Five-Year Plan", published in the late 70s and early 80s, provides the following interesting facts.

“During the first 2 years of the five-year plan, significant successes were achieved in most branches of industry, construction, transport, but they could not overshadow the major shortcomings in the life of the country, connected to a large extent with the situation of Stalin's personality cult. On the economic front, this manifested itself primarily in gross violations and miscalculations in the management of agriculture, which caused serious imbalances in the national economy, a heavy lag of agricultural production from pressing economic needs for the country. A number of planned outlines, as practice has shown, were not supported by the necessary economic and organizational measures, some of them showed insufficient realism. "
Soviet Historical Encyclopedia, FIFTH FIVE YEAR PLAN FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PEOPLE'S ECONOMY OF THE UNION OF SSR.

It turns out that the "cult of personality" did not in any way prevent the USSR from fighting against fascist Europe, against imperialist Japan, and from restoring the economy of the Soviet country at an accelerated pace after the war. "The cult of the leader's personality" did not interfere with the implementation of the financial reform of 1947, thereby streamlining the country's monetary system and abolishing the cards, the first of the European countries that took part in World War II, filling the ruble with gold content, raising its exchange rate against other foreign currencies. And the most interesting thing is that under the living of Stalin, for 5 years from 1947, prices for consumer goods in the USSR fell annually. After the appointment of "agricultural worker" Khrushchev to the post of first secretary of the CPSU Central Committee, workers saw a decline in prices only once, back in 1954. This was the seventh in a row and the last price cut in the USSR.

It is no secret that the Leninist Party until 1918 bore the name of the RSDLP (b). The Bolsheviks - supporters of Lenin, finally separated from the RSDLP in 1912 at the VI Prague Conference, and began to be called Bolsheviks back in 1903 after voting at the II Congress of the Party. In order to further isolate themselves from the various socialist, social-democratic and workers' parties of Russia and Europe that had betrayed the proletariat, the Bolsheviks renamed their party the RCP (b). Thus, Lenin's party confirmed by its name that it does not intend to be satisfied with what has already been achieved (socialism) and will lead Soviet society to communism.

"The congress decides to henceforth call our party (the Russian Social-Democratic Labor Party of the Bolsheviks) the Russian Communist Party with the addition of" Bolsheviks "in parentheses.
The congress decides to change the program of our party by revising the theoretical part or supplementing it with the characteristics of imperialism and the beginning of the era of the international socialist revolution.
Then, the change in the political part of our program should consist in the most accurate and detailed description of the new type of state, the Soviet Republic, as a form of the dictatorship of the proletariat and as a continuation of those gains of the international workers' revolution that were started by the Paris Commune ...
In the same spirit and direction, the economic, including the agrarian, as well as the pedagogical and other parts of our program must be revised. The center of gravity should consist in an accurate description of the economic and other transformations initiated by our Soviet government, with a concrete statement of the immediate concrete tasks set by the Soviet government and arising from the practical steps we have already taken to expropriate the expropriators. "
VII CONGRESS of the RSDLP (b), ON CHANGE OF THE NAME OF THE PARTY AND THE PARTY PROGRAM, 1918.

Today, there is still a historical confusion in communist theory that prevents various organizations from converging on ideological issues. Tolli Was the Soviet government building communism, or building socialism? Tolley the communist party aspired to the victory of socialism, or to the victory of communism? Tolli at the first stage of communism Soviet power stopped, did the party torn the navel of building communism together with Khrushchev? Tolley socialism triumphed in our country, roofing felts communism, and then suddenly took and surrendered to capitalism?

The Union of Communists draws the following conclusions from the works of the classics of Marxism-Leninism and on the basis of the historical experience of Soviet Russia and the USSR. After the overthrow of the Provisional Government, the Second All-Russian Congress of Soviets of Workers 'and Soldiers' Deputies became the supreme power in the country. The congress formed new organs of the dictatorship of the proletariat: the All-Russian Central Executive Committee (VTsIK), chairman L.B. Kamenev and the Council of People's Commissars (SNK), headed by Lenin. On October 26 by the "Decree on Land", and later by other decrees, the Bolsheviks brought the economic basis (public property) under the political superstructure (the dictatorship of the proletariat). As the history of the XX and XXI centuries shows, first the proletariat takes commanding heights, then changes are introduced into the economy by law.

When people look back at Soviet history, they see it as a whole homogeneous period of 74 years.

They count it from the day of the beginning of the Great October Socialist Revolution and the arrest of the Provisional Government on October 25, 1917, upon ratification by the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR on December 12, 1991 of the Belovezhskaya Agreement (Agreement on the Establishment of the Commonwealth Independent States(CIS), signed by the heads of the Russian Federation (RSFSR), the Republic of Belarus and Ukraine on December 8, 1991). The history of the USSR is somewhat shorter than the Soviet history. Officially, it originates on December 29, 1922, when the Treaty on the formation of the USSR was signed at a conference of delegations from the congresses of the Soviets of the RSFSR, the Ukrainian SSR, the BSSR and the ZSFSR. This document was approved on December 30, 1922 by the 1st All-Union Congress of Soviets and signed by the heads of delegations. These are official dates reign of Soviet power.

It looks simple and clear. Once upon a time there was the Soviet Union, there was Soviet power, and then, once, they were gone. Probably most people in modern Russia They think so (bourgeois propaganda plays an important role in imposing such an opinion), and it doesn't matter whether a person was born under the USSR or after its collapse. But, if you carefully study the Soviet period, it turns out that there is no unity and homogeneity in it. In terms of form, it seems, everything is in place, both the Soviets and the USSR, but in terms of content, no.

Recently, interesting and even, possibly, threatening events have been taking place in the Middle East. A force that calls itself the Islamic State is fighting very successfully against the traditional Muslim countries of the region.

The first attempt was made in Syria. The attack on government forces led by Bashar al-Assad was unsuccessful. Now, ISIS units are also attacking Iraq, which is in disarray and vacillation after a decade of American occupation. The offensive is apparently very successful, the ISIS troops are approaching Damascus and Baghdad, and the government forces of Iraq and Syria do not offer them worthy resistance. Cities fall one by one. ISIS's latest success is the capture of Ramadi.

European countries, including the Russian Federation, talk about a terrible threat hanging over civilization. They say that these are Islamic extremists who are equally successful in slaughtering traditional Muslims, Christians and representatives of other confessions. That they are destroying Christian shrines and certain Muslim ones too. Massacres of people are readily demonstrated on the Internet. It seems that this force called ISIS is completely beyond the control of anyone and is ready to create an Arab caliphate in the Middle East: Iran, Afghanistan and North Africa... It is really impossible to understand what is really going on there and whether there is a threat to the Russian Federation, which is constantly being repeated on all talk shows.

Very little time has passed since the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory Day of the Soviet people in the Second World War. But this event turned out to be so significant that its echoes, like circles on water, caused an information storm all over the world.

Judge for yourself, two days after the celebration in the Russian Federation, after a two-year break, US Secretary of State John Kerry showed up. Finding neither the Russian Foreign Minister nor the President in Moscow, he skipped after them in Sochi. 4 hours of negotiations with Lavrov, a call to Kiev warning Poroshenko, then 4 hours of negotiations with Putin. What was discussed during these 8 hours of negotiations is unknown. No joint statement or press conference followed.

After the negotiations, Kerry flew to Antalya, where a summit of NATO foreign ministers was being held at that time. It was here that a statement was made about the need to compel Russia to comply with the Minsk agreements on stabilizing the situation in Ukraine. I would like to remind you that the Minsk Agreements are a roadmap for the negotiation process between the DPR, LPR and Kiev. The Russian Federation is not a party to the conflict, and participated in the Minsk negotiations as a mediator country. The subsequent statements by the US State Department on May 12, 13, 14 that Ukraine strictly adheres to the Minsk agreements and that in order to force the Russian Federation to peace, it is necessary to continue both the sanctions policy and pressure through diplomatic channels.

On May 23, a festival of communist press was held in Moscow on Sokolnicheskaya Alley. Several parties and organizations of the RKWP-KPSS, OKP, Left Front and others took part in it at once. Newspaper and book kiosks were organized for visitors, where they could buy the printed editions they liked, and some even get free of charge. Those interested could make donations to help victims of the hostilities in the Donbas. On a small stage in front of a small audience, party representatives, newspaper editors performed, Soviet and patriotic songs were sung, and poems were recited.

I do not know if the festival fulfilled its mission, but the fact that it took place is a fact. Everything went according to "modern communist patterns" - modest, not crowded and imperceptible. This state of affairs in the capital cannot but depress the author of these lines. Of course, a festival is not a rally, a rally is not a demonstration and, even more so, not a parade, but the view of this action turned out to be more compassionate than fighting and rallying. Almost indifferent attitude of passers-by, a small percentage of young people among the organizers and participants of the festival, etc. Once again, in order not to offend the organizers, who had to work hard to get permission from the Moscow authorities to hold this festival on a crowded alley with sound-amplifying equipment, the ultimate goals of the festival are not known to us.

But it is still interesting what the organizers and participants themselves think about the current state of the communist movement in Russia and about the steps to develop and strengthen it?

We went to the Icebreaker yesterday.
Not a bad impression - not a masterpiece, of course, but quite a strong domestic work.
Filmed based on a real expedition - the Antarctic drift of "Mikhail Somov" in 1985.

The plot keeps you in suspense and does not give you too much boredom. There are fewer technical horrors than psychological twists and turns in the relationship of the crew, which is rare for an adventure-geographic film. The captain-pinochet sent from Leningrad to replace the old one who has been fined is quite convincingly shown. Boatswain-crest is very colorful, as well as a slippery senior careerist.

Special effects and catastrophic moments for four with a minus, but the top five can be put behind the scene when Captain-1 falls into the iceberg cavity and falls into the seal's den, which crawls out of it and yells, trying to escort the intruder in a fur hat and sheepskin coat.

The era-1985, in general, was reproduced quite soundly, for a four.
Of the (small) blunders, we managed to catch three:

1) The wife of the first captain disembarks on the deck of an icebreaker (in Antarctica, epta!) From a helicopter with a full Leningrad parade and in a light stylish outfit worthy of Nevsky Prospekt - without any Antarctic bells and whistles,

2) The same journalist wife has a typewriter in the cabin of Novorossiysk. At this moment, the director draws the horrors of pitching, as the essentially small icebreaker passes the "roaring forties" of southern latitudes. And in this rolling, he throws everyone from side to side, everyone vomits and falls together, but the machine stands calmly in place, rooted to the spot. At the same time, it is not visually visible that it was somehow fixed,

3) After rescue, when they were already at the equator, mail was dropped from the helicopter. The boatswain is given a fresh newspaper - after all, while drifting, they did not know what was going on in the world (according to the scenario), and they were surprised to learn that there was a new secretary general in the USSR, acceleration and other restructuring. He unfolds "Pravda" - and there on the photo of the first page of Gorby ... with a spot on his forehead. He asks - "Oh, and sho is he here ???" - and pokes his finger at the bald spot. Despite the fact that Humpback's spot was retouched in newspapers until 1989, and his bald spot was unmarked, as in real life. On TV, it was visible, but in the photo it was covered up for the first three years.

The interior of the icebreaker reminded me very strongly of something that I had seen myself. The whole movie couldn't get rid of it strange feeling... I was leaving the session and thought tensely - well, where could I see these plafonds, these ladders, this decoration of the cabins? Why do they seem so familiar to me? And in the morning I remembered - the same! In Murmansk 2010! :)

The anti-Soviet insertion-vyser turned out to be only one - a vile KGB officer who was going on the Novorossiysk to rescue the icebreaker captured by the ice, and harassed the wife of the first captain. No, of course, an NKVD officer with a pestle in his hand and in a cap with a blue band of a KGB officer must be included in the scoundrels! This is such a strong template for our creators :)

The rest is more or less normal.
Of course, sailors are likely to find much more inconsistencies.
But the film is still being shot for the general public, so this is all understandable.

Summary. In general, it is necessary to watch. Not a bad movie.
