To see for yourself an amazing natural phenomenon, almost 15 meters high and about 110 meters long, in the form of a wave with an overhanging crest, which seems to be ready to fall on you at any moment. Vertical stripes resulting from the interaction of rainwater and chemical deposits (carbonates and iron hydroxide) give Stone Wave more realistic look.

It seems that some ancient wizard with one wave of his magic wand stopped time, and a giant wave, turned into stone, froze in its impetuous movement and waits for the moment to be freed from the spell to rush onto the plain, sweeping away everything in its path.

Somewhere in the 60s, a spectral analysis of the rock that makes up this rock was made and it was revealed that the age Wave Rock is about 2700 million years old. Those. Once upon a time, millions of years ago, a huge flat basalt layer was under the surface of the earth, and water from the spring rains, seeping through the soil and flowing down the stone, eroded its base. The soil eroded over time and was gradually blown away by the wind, and thus the rock was on the surface.

Even before not so long ago, during the rainy season, water flowed in streams over the sloping surface of the rock and fell from its “edge of the ridge” like a waterfall. But the water in these parts is of great value, and in order not to let it go to waste, a kind of limiter was made along the upper edge of the cliff, trapping and directing rainwater into the reservoir. Long ago, in forgotten times, there was a girl from one Aboriginal tribe and a young man from another. They met and fell in love, but the ancient law forbade them to marry. But, one way or another, the young couple disobeyed the law and decided to live together, no matter what.

Expelled from their tribes, the young people went to a cave, which they found not far from Wave Rock, and began to live there in love and harmony.

But the gods did not forgive them for breaking the laws, and they had a son with slanting eyes. The parents named the boy Mulka... Mulka grew up surprisingly tall and strong, he was a head taller than his peers, but his squint did not allow him to hunt and he could not get his own food on his own.

Rejected by all the surrounding tribes and left without help, the young man gradually became embittered with the whole world and hated everyone, including his parents, who involuntarily became the cause of his misfortunes, and once, suffering from hunger, he decided on a terrible act: he made his way into the camp of one of the tribes at night, stole baby and ate it. This way of getting food seemed to him easy and safe, and so Mulka became a cannibal.

When the unfortunate mother tried to reason with her son, in a fit of rage, he killed and ate her. Then the local tribes gathered for a council and decided to kill the young man, who became a threat to the entire district. Gathering an army, they went to Mulki's cave. Upon learning of the impending attack, Mulka fled, but was found 156 kilometers to the south and stabbed to death with spears, but was not buried. His body was left to be devoured by the ants for the edification of those who wish to break the law.

Since then, the cave in which Mulka lived is considered a cursed place in aboriginal mythology, the aborigines began to bypass it for many kilometers and an ancient trail passing nearby Wave Rock, emptied.

In Mulki's cave, you can still see the prints of his palms high above his head, where the hand of an ordinary person cannot reach. It is an ancient Aboriginal tradition that boys who come of age leave their palm prints in ocher paint on a stone, or vice versa, light palm silhouettes against a background of dark paint sprayed around.

If you manage to visit these parts, then upon closer examination of the Stone Rock you will see that next to it there is a support that almost completely repeats the shape of this unique natural phenomenon. Scientists have specially created it in an artificial way so that rainwater can flow through it into a small reservoir. Such structures are often built near similar cliffs located in the Whitbelt region.

To everyone who is fond of geology, we can inform you that according to the opinions of scientists, the granite formation described by us was formed hundreds of years ago and is a product of the erosion of the surface of the mountains called Hayden Rock. The action of natural forces was so significant that they were able to form an amazingly shaped rock, the height of which reaches 110 meters, and the length of 15. It is believed that it acquired its final form 60 million years ago under the influence of chemical weathering, as well as the natural movement of soft granite rocks. The heterogeneity of the rock composition leads to the formation of an amazing phenomenon. So, depending on the angle of incidence of the sun's rays, the color of the surface of the described natural attraction is constantly changing.
