How much money to take with you to Sharjah. Money and prices in the UAE

If you have the opportunity to cook, then the task is simplified, although food prices in the UAE are quite high compared to Russian ones.

A kilogram of potatoes - 4 dirhams, eggs - 8-10 per dozen, bananas - 7 per kilogram, a liter of milk - 6, a kilogram of cheese - about 30, apples - 8-10 dirhams per kilogram.

Food in cafes and fast foods

Fast food in the UAE is not a salvation for tourists. Lunch of a sandwich, fries and a drink at McDonald's costs 25-30 dirhams. At Subway eateries, half a sandwich costs 17-20, a whole large sandwich costs 25-30.

In a cafe, you will have to pay 10-15 dirhams for tea, 12-20 for coffee, 8-20 for a small sandwich (example in the photo on the left), and 25-50 for dessert.

Focus on the following prices: lunch in a cafe - 50-60, dinner - 60-80 dirhams per person. By the way, “business lunch” is popular here, take advantage of this opportunity.

Food in restaurants

There are a lot of restaurants in the United Arab Emirates, from very cheap Indian and Pakistani ones to expensive Italian, Arabic or French restaurants.

In a cheap Indian restaurant you can dine for 50-60 dirhams. In an expensive restaurant, a dinner for two with appetizers, two courses, drinks and dessert will cost from 300 to 500 dirhams.

If you want to go to restaurants and not be left without money in your wallet, then the main thing is not to be shy about anything. If you go to an unfamiliar restaurant, then ask for a menu from the door and look at the prices. If it's expensive, then leave calmly and without a twinge of conscience.

Transport

In other emirates, the choice is small - either buses or taxis. Buses are extremely inconvenient for tourists, it can even be difficult to understand where he is going. Even if you know the number, it is not always clear whether the bus is going in the right direction or the opposite. The only exception can be noted intercity buses, most often tourists have to go back, here the bus is the best option.

Tours and tickets to attractions

In Dubai, a lot of interesting things you can see for free. For example, the largest shopping mall in the world is, which in itself is already a landmark. Inside you can see the famous and also for free, and.

Organized excursions in the UAE, pleasure is not cheap, focus on 100 US dollars per person - this is the average price for an excursion within the emirate of your stay. For example, how much does a trip to or sightseeing tour in Dubai with a visit to the observation deck. or incense sticks - 5-10 per piece. Souvenir products are all brought from China, for magnets, mugs, key rings, pay 5-10 dirhams.

Many people already know and have often heard from other tourists that the United Arab Emirates is far from being the cheapest country. But how do you want to see the famous Palms, Burj Khalifa, the chic White Mosque at least once, ride through the desert in powerful jeeps and (if you're lucky) see a golden Lamborghini with a tame leopard in the passenger seat.

Here, finally, you buy a tour to Dubai (UAE). We paid for it, exhaled, and then realized that it would be nice to take money with us. But how much money to take? Let's try to figure this out.

We will immediately warn you that it is better to take dollars as the main currency in the United Arab Emirates. Here they are loved more than the euro. However, if you really like the money of the European Union, then you can take it with you. No one will definitely refuse them in the UAE.

For a better understanding of what you can spend money on in Dubai, let's make a list:

  • Accommodation;
  • Nutrition;
  • Transport;
  • Entertainment;
  • Purchases.

Accommodation.

Despite the fact that Dubai (UAE) is a rather expensive city, here you can stay in a 2 * hotel or find luxury apartments in a five-star hotel. Moreover, not necessarily a two-star hotel will be very bad. It will just be located a few tens of minutes drive from the beach and the range of services provided will be minimal. But this alignment will allow you to freely roam the city and experience all its beauties.

The minimum cost of living in Dubai can start from (approximately) US$60 per night per person. Only it will be a room or number either in a private house or in guest houses that are now popular. For this price, you will (often) just get a room located far from the nearest metro station and from the beaches. Even breakfast will have to be provided by yourself.
Optimal in terms of cost - about $ 2000 for a week of accommodation for two - there will be a hotel with 3 - 4 "stars". But for that price you get more breakfast and pretty decent service.

At the peak of the High season, such rooms will cost approximately $2400.

If you don’t want to think about anything else (three meals a day, several excursions already paid for and a couple of nice bonuses), then you need to prepare an amount of $ 2,400 per week for two.
But first you need to understand for yourself what is more important for you: to wander around the city yourself, which is called “breathe its air”; see and visit those places that you want to see, eat when and where you want, or surrender to the will of the tour organizers, hotel management and just calmly “go with the flow”. For the most part, the first option for recreation is chosen by young couples (often without children) and active couples, the second option
recreation fits couples with children.

Nutrition.

As mentioned in one of our articles, dining in cafes and restaurants in Dubai is quite an expensive item of expenditure. Because lunch or dinner for one person can cost an average of about $ 50. Whereas you can have a hearty lunch in small cafes in the Indian quarter of Dubai for a maximum of $ 20. There is another option to eat: some of the Iranian cafes work on the principle of "buffet". That is, on the tables in such a cafe there is a wide range of different dishes of Iranian cuisine, you pay about $ 14 at the entrance and you can eat whatever you like and in any quantity. Well, or in extreme cases, kill your appetite with a local shawarma for $ 1.5.

If you at least roughly estimate how much food for a week for two can cost, then the amount will fluctuate within $ 300. You can spend more, it all depends on you.

Small warnings: There are practically no dishes like "soup" in the United Arab Emirates. The maximum of what you can find in the cafes and restaurants of the Emirates is different variations of cream soups.

Dishes in Arabic cuisine are quite spicy.

The tip is often already included in the final amount of the check.

Transport.

In Dubai, the choice of transport on which you can move around the city is quite large: buses, metro, taxi or rented car.

Most cheap option movement around the city - metro. The maximum cost of a trip on the subway can cost about $7.

Before you ride the subway, you will need to buy a special card (with its help you can ride not only the subway, but also buses and even taxis). There are cards
different, with different amounts in the account.

The payment system in the Dubai Metro is as follows: you go to a certain station, bring this card to a special device. Then, upon arrival, you must again bring the card to the device and it will calculate the cost of your trip.

Make sure that there are always funds on the card. Because if there is not a sufficient amount on the account, the equipment simply will not let you out of the subway.

Taxi, surprisingly, is also quite a budget option to move from one point to another - a taxi. For a week, you can spend up to $ 50 intensive use of this type of transport. Landing (in a taxi) costs about $ 1, each kilometer of the trip - about $ 0.4. This is if the counter. With "private traders" you can agree in advance on the cost of the trip, you can even bargain. The maximum cost of one trip within the city is up to $4.

If you assume that there will be a lot of travel and not only in Dubai, then there is a reason to rent a car. The maximum amount of car rental per day is up to $50. The higher the rental price, the higher the class of the rented car. The required amount of the deposit for the selected car will depend on the class of the car. vehicle. It happens that you may be required to deposit up to $1,000.

In order to rent a car in Dubai, you will need your passport, photo and international driving license.

It is a pleasure to drive on local roads - smooth, beautiful markings. Only at first, unreal traffic interchanges, such as near the Dubai Mall, are somewhat embarrassing. In order to understand which road to take and which turn to turn, you can spend some time and drive a few wrong circles along this interchange.

What is unusually pleasant local population very polite and responsive on the road. If it suddenly happened on your way and you stopped, then literally in a couple of minutes a worried local resident will stop next to you in order to help.

Let's roughly calculate: if you move around the city using the metro, buses and taxis, then in seven days you can spend about $50 for two. If these are trips on a rented car, then you will have to spend about $ 150

Entertainment.

It is true that everything is very expensive in Dubai. The average price of excursions ranges from $100. It will be something grandiose, like a trip to the Arabian desert, followed by an overnight stay there. When the guide starts to advertise this excursion, everything is presented in rainbow colors: they will ride in chic powerful jeeps, and you will meet the sunset sitting on the day, and half-naked oriental beauties will dance in front of you while you taste local dishes. But in reality, everything happens much more prosaically and on a smaller scale. Accordingly, to buy such entertainment and even for decent money or not, it's up to you.

But you can find cheaper tours. For example, a ride along the canal in the local analogy of Venice will cost about $25 for two. Climbing up to the observation deck in Burj Khalifa for one will cost about $40. If you want to visit the largest aquarium in the world, then you will have to pay about $ 35 per person for a ticket.

And there is also the opportunity to enjoy the beauty or unusual objects of Dubai for free. For example, to see and listen to the Musical Fountain, which is located at the foot of the Burj Khalifa. Or look at the marine inhabitants of the Aquarium simply by visiting the Dubai Moll (there is a part of the aquarium that can be viewed without going inside the Aquarium and without buying an entrance ticket).

Let's calculate: If we assume that during your week in Dubai you want to visit three excursions (including a visit to the Aquarium, Skinte Dubai, any of the local water parks), then you will spend around $ 200 on excursions. Now add to this amount visits to zoos, discos, bars, then you can add about $ 100 more. As a result, we get about $ 300.

Purchases.

Absolutely everyone knows that in the United Arab Emirates and in particular in Dubai, there are chic bazaars, incredible in size. shopping centers that it is here that many eminent couturiers bring their specially created collections and that it is here that you can buy original electronic equipment at a price half that of the global one. And how not to come to Dubai and not buy something for your loved one (not counting the huge list of traditional souvenirs).

If you are counting on buying ordinary souvenirs and are not going to buy anything else, then you need to allocate about $ 100 more from the budget (a very approximate amount). If you want to buy a fur coat, a new phone or camera, or pamper yourself with gold and pebbles, then you need to allocate several thousand more dollars. But we will not take this into account.

The only advice we can give you is to resist the mass urge to buy everything. Especially if your vacation fell on January - February months. During this period, a big Sales Festival is held in Dubai. Absolutely all stores and shops make 50% discounts on all their goods (the law says so). And some sellers add their additional discounts to these 50%. In this situation, it's hard not to succumb to the massive buying hysteria. Remember, first of all, you came to Dubai to relax, and not to buy everything.

Let's summarize.

If you don’t overspend a lot and relax in Dubai within reason, visit several excursions, eat in local original cafes and sometimes pamper each other romantic evening in your room with a bottle of wine by candlelight, do not sweep everything from the shelves of shops, then it is quite possible to take the amount of $ 1000 with you and enjoy a great vacation.

Have a nice and unforgettable holiday in the most fascinating resort city in the world, Dubai.

The United Arab Emirates is one of the few Islamic states that has opened its doors to tourists from all over the world. The country is on the list of the most expensive, along with Switzerland and the UK. Is it really? The article will cover in detail the issue of the cost of food, travel and entertainment in the UAE, as well as answer the most common questions from travelers.

Briefly about money in the UAE

Before proceeding with the calculation of expenses, each tourist should have the following information.

  • The official currency in the UAE is the dirham (abbreviation AED).
  • Tourists in the UAE prefer to pay in dollars for three reasons. First: dollars are available at any bank and exchange office. Second: American currency is accepted by shopping centers, restaurants and shops. Third: it is more convenient to pay with the usual “bucks”, since the notes of dirhams depict Arabic characters that are difficult for a foreigner to decipher. On the reverse side of the dirham, an English translation is provided, but the constant revision of bills only takes time.
  • At the time of 2018, the official dollar exchange rate in the UAE is 3.67 dirhams.

The UAE is an ideal place for a sophisticated tourist, as it is here that you can spend money “easily and tastefully”. Everyone will find an outlet here: lovers of shopping and elite alcohol, gourmets, collectors of oriental works of art and many others.

What amount to expect

Now let's get to the main question - how much money to take in the UAE for 7 and 10 nights ? There is no upper limit. The only thing that a tourist should remember is that cash in the amount of $ 27,000 or more must be declared without fail at customs.

What is the cost of living for a tourist? The amounts depend on the degree of comfort the foreigner is used to. As a rule, $1500-2000 per week is enough for the average tourist, which can be stretched over the remaining three days. If you do not deny yourself pleasures, then it is recommended to take at least $ 3,000 per person.

Where do these numbers come from? Now let's look at each point in detail.

Food prices

The cost of food depends on which city to stay. Below is an example on Dubai prices. In this metropolis, you will not find cheap cafes and canteens, as Dubai is a fairly expensive city. The average cost of lunch for 1 person is $45 , in fast food establishments - $ 20. For those who wish to cook on their own, a table of average food prices in local supermarkets (in local currency) has been compiled:

Food in the markets is relatively inexpensive.

Here you can buy the most necessary products and cook meals with a supply for a week. 1 kg of vegetables and fruits is enough for 1 person for 7-10 days, as well as 3-4 bottles of water (1.5 l), 2 dozen eggs, 1 bag of cereals and 2 kg of meat. In total, it turns out about 88.3 dirhams ($ 326). If you buy bars and fast food every day while walking, then the costs will increase to $ 100 per person.

A tourist who prefers to dine in catering establishments spends about $400-700 per week on one meal.

Transport costs

In the Emirates, it is convenient to move around the city by metro and buses. It is appropriate to use buses when moving from city to city, and underground transport - within one locality.

Comfort lovers prefer to use taxi services. A taxi ride costs about $45/day, that is, $315-400 for 7-10 days. A rented car costs from $100 to $500 per day. Public transport costs are approximately $120-150 for 7-10 days.

Prices for attractions and excursions

Tourists coming to the UAE are divided into 2 categories: those who spend their days relaxing on the sea coast, and those who explore the romance of the eastern streets. The latter have to stock up on larger sums, since the Arabs charge a lot for excursions. Entrance fee of the most frequently visited tourist spots(1 person/$):

  • Dreamland water park - 70;
  • desert safari - 70;
  • safari in the mountains - 70;
  • dolphinarium - 80;
  • Burj Khalifa - by appointment.

Daily excursions cost visitors $500-600 for 7-10 days. If you go on excursions 1-3 times for the entire period of travel, it is quite possible to meet $250-300.

Also, do not forget about the existence of nightclubs, bars, karaoke and other nightlife venues that attract foreigners. Here visitors spend an unmeasured amount of money. The average check for one guest is $450 per night.

Prices for souvenirs

Souvenirs in the United Arab Emirates are quite specific. Many tourists buy camel milk (6-10 dirhams for 500 ml), aroma sticks (5-10 dirhams for 1 piece), magnets, mugs, accessories. In this case, everyone decides how much to spend, and whether it is worth spending at all. On average, $ 200 is enough for souvenirs and gifts for loved ones.

Prices for tobacco products and alcohol

Perhaps this topic worries Russian tourists the most. Despite the fact that the United Arab Emirates is a rather liberated Islamic state, it is not so easy to find alcohol here. The reason is obvious: in countries where Islam rules, things that affect human consciousness are strictly prohibited: alcohol, drugs, smoking mixtures, etc. Therefore, if you want to celebrate your vacation in the UAE with alcohol, it is advisable to bring it with you.

Attention! Check out the rules United Arab Emirates with regards to drinking strong drinks!

  • Despite the loyalty of the police towards tourists, it is strictly forbidden to drink alcohol in public places and while driving. A tourist caught in a drunken state will be placed in a prison for 30 days + a fine of 2000 dirhams.
  • On religious holidays, alcohol is not sold even in places where it should be sold (bars, clubs, etc.).
  • In order to safely drink alcohol in the Emirates, a foreigner must have an Alcohol Holder license, but obtaining it is very problematic for ordinary tourists. Therefore, visitors rarely bother with this issue and use it in hotels where no one can catch them drunk.

The cost of cigarettes in the UAE ranges from 7-10 dirhams. Prices for alcohol depend on the age and class of the drink: an average of $50-100.

Tourist tax in the Emirates

Tourist tax is a contribution that a foreigner makes when settling in a hotel or apartment in the UAE.

The amount depends on the number of stars and the class of the place of temporary residence. Settling in five-star hotels, the tourist is obliged to pay 20 dirhams per day (not included in the room price).

Hotels 1-4 stars require a fee of 7 to 15 dirhams. Tax evasion is unacceptable and strictly controlled by local authorities.

The initial data are as follows: our heroes are cheerful and sociable people (especially on vacation), so both of them like the many-voiced crowd of people. In addition, She has a sweet weakness for walking along elegant shop windows, He condescendingly looks at ladies' things and looks forward to the opportunity to wander around the eastern city and go on safari to the real Arabian desert. Our heroes have a healthy appetite, also fueled by children's curiosity for unfamiliar dishes.

Usually our tourists go to Dubai (the capital of the emirate of the same name) - we will go there too. Almost all year round there is a revival in numerous entertainment centers, restaurants and clubs. You can wander until you drop through the countless malls (from January 15 to February 15, Dubai hosts a "shopping festival" - the time of sales and festive entertainment), meet the sunset among the dunes, and, of course, swim in the warm sea.

A week-long tour for two to Dubai will cost an average of $900-950 (airfare, insurance, accommodation in a 4* hotel, meals - breakfast only). Let's try to calculate how much the pleasures that our travelers planned to receive will result in (in order to avoid misunderstandings, we explain that the prices are averaged).

Restaurants

How convenient it is when only breakfast is paid for - tempting gastronomic prospects open up for inquisitive tourists. So, a hearty lunch or dinner for two in a Lebanese restaurant will cost $15-18. What can you get for this money? For example, two huge dishes of grilled meat, an impressive plate of fresh vegetable salad, freshly squeezed juices and flatbreads straight from the oven. Or there is such an option: a buffet table - Iranian cuisine. Pay $13 for two and start your meal: lamb, kebab, three types of pilaf, chicken and grilled meat, vegetable salads. If you resist the temptation to gorge yourself, you can opt for dessert for an extra $3.

In restaurants specializing in seafood dishes, a feast with seafood soup, fried shrimp and grilled fish will cost the same amount. The "sea mix grill" ($10) also deserves special attention, a large portion of which includes a cape of shrimp, squid, fish, crab, lobster tail and garnish. Of the drinks, the most notable are freshly squeezed juices and whipped cocktails from mango, papaya, kiwi, bananas and strawberries ($ 1.3). It should be borne in mind that usually in restaurants in Dubai tips are already included in the bill.

Total: about $280 for two.

Transport

The most convenient way to travel is by taxi. Sand-colored municipal taxis are equipped with meters. They charge a little less than $1 for landing and then $0.3 for each kilometer. In private taxis, the meter is successfully replaced by preliminary bargaining with the driver. A trip within the city costs from $1.5 to $3, between cities - about $15-30.

It's not a bad idea to rent a car. There are many companies that provide such services. Car rental prices fluctuate between $25 and $45 per day. The final price depends (as in many other cases) on the impudence of the representative of the company and your confidence in your own rightness.

To rent a car, you will need a passport, photographs and international driving license.

Driving in the UAE is easy: the road surface is mostly good, traffic rules differ little from ours. Our citizens are deeply touched by the already forgotten road solidarity, when several cars can stop at your stalled car at once.

Total: from $30 (with daily use of taxi services) to $150 (car rental for several days) for two.

Since it will still not be possible to visit all the excursions in a week, it is better to identify priorities in advance. Everyone, without exception, is impressed by the rapid desert safari ($80-100 for two). Frantic jeep racing and an amazingly beautiful sunset reconcile safari participants with somewhat dubious points in the program. For example, a well-fed belly dancer with an openly Slavic appearance instead of the declared "oriental beauty".

Many also enjoy such innocent entertainment as a ride on an Arab boat. The panorama of Dubai from the boat is really very beautiful. An hour walk along the canal will cost $ 20-26 for two. The Wild Wadi water park ($52-64 for the whole day) is also worth a visit - thoughtlessly rafting down the "lazy" river, periodically overcoming waves and storming waterfalls, sliding (or shooting up) down a hill or driving through a tunnel. For the most inseparable, there are funny circles for two.

A one-time scuba dive and under the close supervision of an instructor will cost $ 120-140 for two. Moreover, for single dives, a PADI certificate is not required.

Total: $270-320 for two, including the only free entertainment - a promenade through the evening city.

shopping

What can you tell about shopping in Dubai? Professionals don't need stories. Amateurs already have their own "trodden" routes. But for beginners entering this trail for the first time, the following information will come in handy. You should not succumb to the general hype (especially during the shopping festival) and buy everything in a row. Knowledgeable people say that it is best to buy furs and gold in Dubai. Prices for fur coats are comparable to Greek ones, but the quality is higher and the choice is really huge. As for jewelry, gold itself is not much cheaper than in our country. But diamonds and other precious stones really amaze with their cheapness. Television and video equipment in Dubai is cheaper than in our stores, on average by 10-30%.

Actual information: it was found that the stores on Nasr Square and in the City Center are distinguished by the highest quality and inexpensive goods. The Gold Souk is also worth a visit.

Summarizing

Taking about $1000 with us, our married couple will be able to quietly enjoy tasting exotic Arabic cuisine and take advantage of at least three excursions. And since the term for the shopping festival has come up, the husband can’t get away - the wife will still go shopping. Although there are husbands who are not indifferent to this occupation. Especially when it comes to photos, videos and other coveted toys.

How much money will be spent on food during a holiday in Dubai depends only on your gastronomic preferences and the thickness of your wallet. You can have a bite of Arabic shawarma or taste a dish in a Michelin-starred restaurant - the choice is yours.

In the Emirates you will find a restaurant of any cuisine and any price category. You can eat tasty and inexpensive in Indian and Pakistani establishments - a hearty lunch for two will cost 50-60 dirhams. There are many such restaurants in Bur Dubai and Deira.

Transport in Dubai

Travel to public transport and taxis in Dubai are cheap.

If you are too lazy to understand the system of routes and passes, choose Taxi- for such a rich city, it is cheap: an average trip costs 10-20 dirhams. For a family or company, a taxi ride will cost even less than a bus or metro.

However, even the laziest, I still recommend at least once a ride on the ultra-modern metro and trams. Trains in the metro run without a driver, are controlled remotely. Stations are interesting and beautifully designed. Also take a ride along Dubai Creek on national boats - abrahs. The fare is only 1 dirham.

So, how much are public transport in dubai:

  • Taxi: landing - 5 dirhams, kilometer - from 1.7.
  • Metro and tram: from 4 dirhams per trip, from 20 - travel card.
  • Abras - from 1 dirham, water buses - from 2 dirhams.

From airport. Read our instructions. If you need a transfer, I advise you to order it in advance on a convenient service so as not to look for a taxi on the spot.
