Da Nang: attractions and excursions. Danang landmarks, central vietnam Cham Sculpture Museum

The next city in the central part of Vietnam for us was ( Da nang, Danang). It is the largest city in central Vietnam. After Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Da Nang is the third largest and most important city in Vietnam. According to data for 2014, the population of Da Nang exceeded 1 million.

During the French colonization of Indochina, Da Nang wore beautiful name Turan (Tourane). As you know from the last article, Da Nang became the heir to Hoi An as the most important port of central Vietnam. Now Da Nang is gaining momentum among beach lovers.

The city has not yet been spoiled by the attention of tourists, as it is still considered a port city.

In Da Nang itself there are one, two, and countless attractions. From what is in the city I can single out Da Nang Museum, Ho Chi Minh Museum and Museum of Cham culture... We managed to visit only the last one, and while we came to the Da Nang Museum, it was already closed.

Da Nang Museum or Local History Museum

Cham Museum in Da Nang located near the Dragon Bridge (at its tail). Among the exhibits of the museum you can see altars, lingas, images of Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu, carved from sandstone. It is in this museum that the largest collection of Cham culture is located. Most of the exhibits are from the capital of the Tyamp Empire (Cham) - Michon and the Buddhist center of Cham - Dong Duong, which is located 20 km south of Michon. The ticket price is 40,000 dongs (a little less than $ 2).

Museum of Cham Culture

Modern landmarks include, of which there are nine in the city. Each bridge has its own unique uniqueness.

The most unusual of them

  • Dragon Bridge, whose structure is made in the form of a giant dragon winding around a bridge (see photo above);
  • Chan Ti Li Bridge or Sail, the height of which is over 700 meters, and its shape resembles a mountain or a non-isosceles triangle;
  • Han River Bridge(did not bother with the name). Every weekend at midnight, the bridge is raised for ships and boats;
  • Tuan Phuoc Bridge, reminiscent of the Golden Gate in San Francisco.

The city has a very beautiful embankment with a wide sidewalk (in comparison with Nha Trang and Mui Ne), which is a pleasure to walk along. For me, time always flies by and you can go a lot without feeling tired. The embankment is decorated with beautiful marble sculptures.

In the evening, the city is transformed. Everything is highlighted and Da Nang sparkles with all the colors of the rainbow. The Vietnamese obviously do not spare funds for lighting. By the way, they do this not only for tourists, but, for the most part, for city residents.

Da Nang Square

Da Nang, like Singapore, has its own merlion. In fact it is dragon fish... In Asia, koi carps are very common (they can be found in almost every pond). It is they who are fed from a baby bottle at the Young Bay Falls. There is a legend that every self-respecting carp dreams of becoming a dragon all his life. When he grows up a little and gains wisdom, he gets to the magic river and swims against the current. Sharp underwater rocks, shoals, eddies and rapids lie in wait for him on this dangerous path. If his spirit is not broken and he overcomes all difficulties, soon the so-called dragon gates will open in front of him: jumping over them, he will turn into a dragon - big, brave, wise and immortal. At the moment of jumping through the gates, the transformation takes place.

Most recently (in 2014), a beautiful amusement park opened in Da Nang - Asia Park... It is still under construction, but a larger area is already open to visitors. The Ferris wheel in the park is clearly visible from any bridge.

8 kilometers from the city center (we take the Dragon Bridge as the starting point) Marble mountains, in which marble is mined to this day and very beautiful sculptures are made.

Outside the city, towards Hue, there is an observation deck - Hai Van Pass, which overlooks the coastline surrounded by mountains. Locals love this place for romantic evenings.

If you are coming to Da Nang for a few days, I would highly advise you to visit the mountain. Unfortunately, the weather was not predisposed and we did not visit it. Probably our whole trip began because of this mountain. Once I saw beautiful photos on Instagram and realized that I simply had to visit here. Firstly, the mountain can be reached by cable car (one of the 10 longest cable cars in the world). Now the price on the official website of Ba Na Hills is 550,000 VND in both directions per adult. Secondly, on the mountain there is a beautiful castle, an amusement park, the oldest wine cellar (in operation since the 1950s) and, of course, Buddha statues and a pagoda. Mount Ba Na was founded in 1919 by French colonialists and this has left a significant mark to this day. In short, the mountain is a must-see. For myself, I just raised the priority for this attraction on my next trip to Vietnam

Photos from the Internet

If you also have a strong desire to explore the mountain, you will need, first of all, to get to the cable car, which is located 20-25 km from Da Nang. I have not found that there are buses running to the cable car, so I advise you to use a taxi (negotiate for a fixed amount) or on a rented bike. The Vietnamese cable car will be "cap treo" or "cap cheo". So you can tell the taxi drivers what you need on the Ba Na Hills cap cheo. Next, buy a ticket and enjoy a bird's eye view of the mountains and Da Nang.

Ruins of Michonne- the most distant attraction of Da Nang, located 50 km from the city. The closest to the ruins is Hoi An. Michonne - temple complex Empire Champa. It is often compared to the Angkor Wat complex in Cambodia, but the size of the Vietnamese complex is very modest. During the Vietnam-American War, the complex was practically razed to the ground, most of the buildings were badly damaged and now they are a pile of stones overgrown with grass. This was the main reason why we did not go to Michonne. And taking into account the fact that on our account the Ponagar towers in Nha Trang, the Poklongorai towers in Phan Rang and the Poshanu Cham towers in Phan Rang / Mui Ne, it was decided not to waste time visiting the ruins in Da Nang.

How to get to Da Nang?

Da Nang has international Airport, which can be reached by direct flight from Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Cambodia and South Korea... As for Vietnamese cities, flights here are carried out from Haiphong and other cities.

Since there is a well-developed bus service in Vietnam, it will be enough to choose only a carrier. Sleeping buses are very popular in the country, where you ride half-lying. In this position, a distance of several hundred kilometers will be much more comfortable to overcome than sitting.

You can also get to Da Nang from neighboring cities by bike. For example, Hoi An is only 25-30 km away, and Hue is 100 km from the city.

Choose the most comfortable and convenient mode of transportation for you and go ahead to meet new impressions and unforgettable emotions.

Where to stay in Da Nang?

You can find good prices for hotels and guesthouses in Da Nang on Booking.com or Agoda.com. You can rent an AirBnB apartment. When renting on AirBnB, you can take advantage of a $ 21 discount on your first booking.
It is better to compare hotels through the HotelsCombined.com service, it checks prices for a dozen booking systems.

Asia park

The Asia Park amusement park is the most favorite place tourists with children. It is located in the very center of the city. The territory is divided into three parts: central, cultural and entertainment.

First, vacationers tend to get to the central part, since there is a Ferris wheel, which is one of the highest Ferris wheels in the world. Its height is one hundred and fifteen meters. It makes a full circle in fifteen minutes. During this time, anyone can see the whole city from a bird's eye view and admire its beauty.

The cultural zone is divided into thematic zones that introduce the culture different countries the world:

Some tourists specially go to Da Nang to see with their own eyes the fire-breathing bridge - Dragon Bridge. These words are not exaggeration. Thanks to a special device, a real flame really bursts out of the dragon's mouth.

This bridge amazes with its size. Its length is six hundred and sixty-six meters. And the width is such that it accommodates six lanes.

It will take your breath away from the very sight of the dragon. Its scales have lanterns of different sizes. Thanks to them, the color of the reptile can change, which gives the dragon an even more frightening look. The flame from the mouth spews out only during the holidays.

Local belief says that whoever crosses this bridge will be lucky. After all, the Vietnamese dragon is a symbol of good luck and luck.

Romantics and poets love to walk in this place. And this is not surprising. The Tran Thi Ly Bridge is like a huge sail that towers over the river. It has the shape of a regular triangle, which gives it an even more majestic and at the same time romantic look. This is probably why couples in love are so drawn here.

This is the only bridge that rotates on its axis by ninety degrees. Conceived so that large ships could pass between the bridge. The traffic is blocked, the Han River Bridge starts to spin. Then both halves of the bridge are connected. Tourists, who first observe the opening of the bridge, then like to take photographs against its background.

The longest and most beautiful bridge is Thuan Phuoc. It shimmers with colored lights. All this is due to the many LED bulbs built into the structure itself.

It is two-story Buddhist temple Phap Lam, which is located in the heart of the city. Vacationers are attracted by its beauty and grandeur, as well as a well-groomed garden with tall, spreading trees. Here you can get to know more about Buddhist religious customs, and also find peace for your soul. The whole serene atmosphere of this holy place contributes to this.

For twenty kilometers along the entire coastline, the beaches of Da Nang are located. They are distinguished by their cleanliness and gentle entrance to the sea. This attracts vacationers with small children here.

The most populous and popular is the Mi Khe beach (aka Chinese beach). Both locals and tourists come here. It amazes guests with white sand and picturesque views of the mountain range.

If you want to retire, then Non Nuok Beach is for this. It is located in the vicinity of Da Nang (in the direction of Hoi An). Considered the most uncrowded beach, and therefore the cleanest.

This attraction is located near Da Nang and consists of five mountains. They rise in the middle of the flat terrain. Each mountain has its own name, which is associated with five elements: fire, water, earth, metal, wood. The name of the marble mountain comes from the fact that in antiquity marble mining took place here.

Inside each mountain there are caves where temples are located. The temple, which combines heaven and hell at the same time, especially attracts tourists. Dark sculptures, as it were, indicate the base in a person, and light ones - to the sublime.

Attractions on the map

From all of the above, the conclusion suggests itself that the future belongs to rest in Da Nang.

In 2009, the population was 887,069 people. Now the city has reached a million inhabitants. It houses the airport, train station and sea port... The textile and food industries are also developed.

According to historical data, the city was founded in 192. In terms of age, he is even older than his capital. Today the city has not preserved any evidence of its age and has become the most modern locality country. In fact, the entire history of Da Nang is deeply intertwined with Europe. Back in 1535, the Portuguese landed here. During the war, Da Nang was located military base USA. The modern city is not yet so popular among tourists, as it is mainly considered a port city. As such, there are no attractions here, as well as entertainment. Rare tourists on the street are regarded as savages. But despite their mediocrity, the city's beaches have been voted the best in the world by Forbs magazine. They really deserve attention. The beaches are clean, there is no large flow of people and attract tourists from all over the world. And the Vietnamese themselves do not mind sometimes sunbathing here.

Content:

Among the sights of the city, one can single out the Cham Museum, the Buddha statue, Mount Bana, Marble mountains and some more beautiful places. For young people, the city will seem uninteresting. However, in the evening, it changes completely. All cafes and restaurants sparkle with colorful lights and numerous vacationers appear on the streets. You can even find some night club however, so far only local residents go to it.

Da Nang is a constantly developing city. Every day, new hotels, restaurants and other infrastructure appear here, aimed at attracting tourists. The roads are monitored in the city, so they are in perfect condition and are almost always free of traffic jams. Despite the large number of hotels, there are even more of them almost every day. The city is changing almost before our eyes. Before you can blink, a new store or restaurant opens next door.

Attractions Da Nang

I repeat that there are very few popular places in Da Nang. However, what is here deserves attention.

Marble mountains

There are mountains between Da Nang and Hoi An. They are formed from five hills of stone origin. Many years ago, the entire surrounding area was in a flooded state, and the hills served as islands created by nature. Each of the hills is represented by one of the five parts of the universe and have their own names. Inside, over time, caves were formed, next to which the ancient people built temples and sanctuaries. Thuishom Hill is considered to be the most popular place at the pilgrims. Many caves are so dark that you should take a lantern with you in order to coordinate inside, and also not to stumble upon bats, of which there are an immeasurable number.

You can visit each of the caves for a nominal fee. At the entrance you will also be offered to purchase a map of the area and a set of pictures with images of mountain beauty. At the very base of the mountain there are two villages that are famous for their artisans. One of them, Non Nuok, is replete with shops with figurines, figurines of deities and pottery. Any tourist will definitely appreciate it, because such a quantity of ceramics and souvenirs can hardly be found anywhere. The prices in the shops are not the highest, and you can even bargain for a lower cost. If you decide to purchase large sculpture, then right on the spot you can arrange delivery to anywhere in the world.

You can get to the Marble Mountains if you purchase excursion tour at any agency in the city. But it would be best to get there on your own. It is much more interesting, educational and cheaper. And there will be no time limit to better study a natural object. It is very easy to get to the marble mountains from Da Nang. You can go by bus, taxi or rent a bike. You will be taken to a fork where you will immediately see five mountain hills. You can get back in the same way, you just have to cross the road.

Cable car and Mount Bana

The mountain is located 40 kilometers from Da Nang. Its height fluctuates at 1478 meters. At the beginning of the 20th century, the French built a resort here. Bana is special in that all four seasons can be observed on it during the day. Clouds on the mountain never rise to the peaks, but are located approximately in the middle. That is why it is always clear and sunny upstairs. Mount Bana is very popular with tourists. They come here to restore their health. To date, an amusement park for children and adults is being built inside Bana. Since this is a resort, it was not without a hotel, where you can stay without any problems. From here, walks to the waterfalls and to numerous observation platforms are made. On the territory of the hotel there are playgrounds for active sports and a spa center. It is worth coming to the Bana resort complex, however, you need to stock up on money to visit all the local attractions.

It is impossible not to mention the cable car that stretches from Ban to Wongnguet Mountain, where there is a large 24-meter statue of Buddha and a number of shrines. Recently, the road was included in the Red Book as the longest and highest in the world. You can visit it during a tour of Mount Bana or on your own using local transport.

Cham Museum

The museum was founded at the beginning of the 20th century. Today it is considered the most famous place in Vietnam. The museum houses the largest collection of Cham sculpture in the world. Most of the exhibits are from ancient sanctuaries established throughout the south of the country. The structure of the museum consists of ten thematic rooms. In addition to historical monuments, there is a collection of old photographs and texts, many of which are unique exhibits dating back to the 5th century.

Only lovers of history and archeology will be interested in the Cham Museum. However, ordinary tourists will also find something to do with themselves.

Da Nang Museum

This museum should not be confused with Cham. It is a kind of local history museums. It was closed for some time, but in 2011 it resumed its work. In the future, this place may become one of the most popular in the city, but so far few people know about the museum.

The Da Nang Museum is located on three floors of a modern building, which became a continuation of an old abandoned building of the 19th century. The museum houses over 2,500 different unique exhibits in the form of photographs and luxury goods. There are even halls staging scenes from the life of the indigenous population. The museum will definitely appeal not only to adults, but also to children.

Statue of buddha

The 67-meter statue is located in the national temple of Da Nang. It is one of the symbols of the city and one of the largest statues in Vietnam. The monument was founded in the 18th century, but in 1919 it underwent a major reconstruction. The Buddha statue is well worth a visit. But you can get to it only as part of an excursion. The Buddha is located at the very top of the mountain. That is why, in addition to the majesty of the statue itself, it will be interesting to see the surrounding places from a bird's eye view.

Ruins of Michonne

The name of the ruins is often pronounced as Mison, but this is completely wrong. The Michonne ruins are considered to be the remains of the ancient Champa state and are listed as a World Heritage Site. On the territory of the ruins there are 17 former temples and tower structures dating from the 13th century. Michon is often confused with Angkor Wat. But the destroyed buildings are still far from the scale of a Cambodian temple. Despite the vast territory of the attraction, there are very few ancient structures here, and all that remains looks more like a cluster of stones.

You can get to the Michon ruins from Da Nang or Hoi An along with an excursion. But, as usual, there is a second way: on your own. Renting a taxi for as little as $ 20 allows you to travel through the ruins all day long. But a trip with an excursion will be much more interesting, since the route sometimes includes a visit to the Cham dance show, kitchen lessons and other interesting entertainment.

Weather in Da Nang

There are no restrictions on visiting Da Nang. It is always warm in this city and its surroundings. But they still distinguish the rainy season and drought.

The hottest in the city is from August to September. The air temperature is then about 34 degrees. In December, a temperature minimum of 19 degrees was recorded. But it's still warm outside.

Danangan is very unusual place... On the one hand, it is a port city, and on the other, a dynamically developing resort. It is definitely worth coming here to explore the internal way of life of the Vietnamese.

The Marble Mountains are located near Da Nang, close to the sea. This natural monument consists of 5 stone hills formed from marble and in antiquity former islands... In the early 19th century, King Gia Long gave these mountains their names after five natural elements: Thuishon (Water), Mokshon (Wood), Hoashon (Fire), Kimshon (Metal) and Thoshon (Earth).

The largest of the five sacred holim is the Water Mountain, on which there are several pagodas, the most famous of which, the Tamthai Pagoda, was built in 1825. To the left of the pagoda is an observation deck, which offers a beautiful view of the vicinity of Da Nang and all the other mountains.

You should be very careful when navigating Mount Vody, because many side paths hide new discoveries. There are several caves that were previously used as sanctuaries by the Chamami Hindu and Vietnamese Buddhists. At a later time, a hospital for the Viet Cong was set up here. You can go to see the caves either with a guide, or for a small fee you will be accompanied by local boys.

At the foot of the Marble Mountains are the villages of marble craftsmen. Here you can buy original souvenirs of the finest work of skilled artisans.

Dragon Bridge

Dragon Bridge is one of the most popular architectural landmarks in the Vietnamese city of Da Nang. It runs across the Han River and is 666 meters long. The height of the structure reaches 37.5 meters. The bridge was completed in 2012 and the work was estimated at $ 88 million. The head of the fire-breathing animal faces the northern part of Da Nang, where numerous hotels, cafes and entertainment centers... What sights of Da Nang did you like? There are icons next to the photo, by clicking on which you can rate this or that place.

Phuc Kien Chinese Temple

Phuc Kien Temple, sometimes referred to as the Assembly Hall, was built in 1679. The building is an excellent example of traditional Chinese architecture. The main theme used in the design of the temple is associated with the sea. To the right of the altar is a replica of the sailing junky, and in the courtyard there is an altar dedicated to the founders, who are depicted as six seated figures.

The Phuc Kien Pavilion is the home of the goddess Thien Hau, the patroness of sailors. In addition, the goddess Thuan Fong Nhi, who has the ability to hear ships thousands of miles away from the coast, is revered here, as well as the goddess Thien Lu Nhan, who has the gift of seeing ships hundreds of miles away.

In the design of the temple, you can see a large number of patterns depicting animals. Thus, the sculpture of a fish, symbolizing good luck and achievement, is located in the center of the fountain, decorated with mosaics. In addition to fish, the decoration of the building also contains images of a dragon, a unicorn, a phoenix, and a turtle. All of them have a sacred meaning, because the dragon symbolizes power and strength, the turtle - longevity, the unicorn - knowledge, and the phoenix is a symbol of nobility.

The Bach Jang River flows in the north of Vietnam, through the Quang Ninh and Nguyen Thuy provinces.

This river was the site of three important battles in Vietnamese history: in 938 during the battle for Vietnamese independence, in 981 during the invasion of the troops of the newly created ruling China of the Sunna dynasty. But the most famous battle is considered to be the battle on the Bach Jang river in 1288. Then General Tran Hung Zhao used unusual tactics to drive out the Mongol invaders. In memory of this battle, wooden sticks with sharp metal tips are now preserved.

China Beach

China Beach is a paradise for surfers and those who want to admire the restless sea and feel the full force of the water element. The swimming season is rather short because the sea is too rough for swimming most of the year.

China Beach gained its fame in part because of the American TV series of the same name - China Beach (Chaina Beach), which tells about the lives of soldiers who served in Vietnam, the developers of the beach decided to keep the name, which increased its popularity among tourists.

But not only the name attracts people to relax on this beach, the well-known white sands, beautiful area, the nearby Marble Mountains. The restless sea and high waves make the resort extremely popular with surfers. The swimming season on the beach is considered to be from May to July, during this period lifeguards work, at other times of the year it is dangerous to swim, even experienced surfers and swimmers may not be able to cope with the natural elements.

The beach is also known for hosting the World Surfing Championship in 1992. In addition, China Beach has been listed as one of the most luxurious beaches in the world by Forbes magazine.

Son Dung Cave

Son Dung Cave in Vietnam is considered the largest cave in the world. Its width is about two hundred meters, its depth is about one hundred and fifty meters, and its length is almost nine kilometers, an entire city street with all the buildings on it can easily fit in the cave. Son Dung is twice the size of Deer Cave in Malaysia, formerly the largest known cave.

Son Dung was discovered in 1991 by a Vietnamese peasant named Ho Han, who feared the whistling sounds coming from the cave and named it Mountain River Cave. Cavers explored the cave only in 2009. Son Dung was formed about two and a half million years ago when a river flow washed away limestone rocks. In some halls of the cave, the ceiling collapsed, creating huge windows through which sunlight began to penetrate inside, and with it, a real jungle grew in the underground halls.

The cave is located in the Fongya Kebang National Park in the Quang Binh province near the border with Laos. The distance to the nearest town of Dong Hoi is sixty-five kilometers, of which ten you will have to walk. It will take you two or three days to explore the cave.
