Bakalskaya spit: the sea is tamed here. Bakalskaya spit in Crimea - rest on clean beaches

In the west of the Crimean peninsula there is a very unusual place, which will be interesting to see for lovers of the sea and its natural monuments. This is the Bakalskaya Spit - a narrow and long strip of land that goes into the sea for several kilometers. It is not so easy to get here, since this territory is a natural reserve zone. No more than fifty thousand people a year can enter the Bakalskaya Spit Park (Crimea).

Geographical position

The Bakalskaya Spit stretches from the northwest to the southeast of the peninsula. The map shows that it goes deep into the waters in the Black Sea. This strip of land is located between the Bakalskoye Lake and the bay of the same name. In the north, it narrows and smoothly turns into Cape Peschaniy, where the lighthouse is located (now inactive).

The length of the spit is about 12 km, 5 km extended into the Black Sea. Coastline flat. Highest point about 1.3 m.

The Bakalskaya Spit has the only paved road (of local importance). It goes from the village of Steregushchee to the narrowest section in the north.

Currently, the spit is gradually narrowing due to hydrological processes: powerful winter storms erode the lands of this natural object. The storms that occurred here in 2005 and 2007 severely damaged the nature and infrastructure of the spit. Due to active illegal sand mining in the summer of 2013, Peschaniy Cape turned into a small island gradually destroyed by waves.

Natural features of the braid

This is a truly unique place. The Bakalskaya Spit (Crimea) is washed from all sides by different currents. Due to this, the sea can storm on its western coast, and remain calm and warm on the eastern one. Each vacationer has a unique opportunity to choose which sea he wants to swim in.

The local landscapes are especially impressive: on the one side there is a huge lake, on the other - the picturesque Karkinitsky Bay and the Black Sea.

Reserve

"Bakalskaya Spit" is a unique nature reserve. It includes the spit, which gave the name to the complex, the eponymous lake with its curative mud and salt marshes, Karkinitsky Bay, known for its shallow depths and clear waters.

This territory is a real paradise for everyone who wants to improve their health, relax by the sea, and live away from noisy cities.

These scenic spots received the status of a reserve in 2000. Today the square landscape park is 1520 hectares. Of these, 87 hectares of land and 100 hectares of the aqua complex are reserved for recreation. Every summer, tent camps appear here, in which those who want to relax in such an unusual place gather.

Healing mud

Many tourists come to these places not only because of the extraordinary beach holiday... People come here because of the healing mud, which the Bakalskoye Lake is famous for. It is the third largest on the Tarkhankut Peninsula - 7.1 square kilometer... These are salt water, estuary, brine and mud, which have a healing effect on the human body in various diseases - infertility, inflammation of the joints, etc.

The village of Stereguschee is the closest locality... Those who want to spend their holidays not in tents, but in more comfortable conditions, can stay here. There are hotels, a small market and shops in Steregushchey. A little further there are the larger resort villages - Razdolnoye and Chernomorskoye. In them, the level of living may be higher, but it takes longer to get to the spit from here.

This year, the youth educational All-Russian forum "Tavrida" was held here. The Bakalskaya Spit hosted young people from all over the country from July 2 to August 26. The forum discussed the problems of youth, education, the participation of young people in the political life of the country. The guests of the forum were businessmen, politicians, scientists.

The whole way from Askania-Nova to Steregushchy is about 180 km. The most interesting object of this section of the route is the Perekop Isthmus, which connects the Crimean peninsula with the mainland and separates the Karkinitsky Gulf of the Black Sea and the Sivash. The length of the isthmus from the North-West to the South-East is 30 km, the width is from 8 to 23 km. The surface of the isthmus is a plain with steppe and semi-desert vegetation. The banks of the Perekop Isthmus are steep (up to 5 m).

In the very north of the Crimean peninsula, four and a half kilometers north of Armyansk, a motor road cuts through a high earthen embankment. This is the legendary Perekop shaft, stretching across the entire isthmus. The unique fortification is an earthen rampart about 8.5 km long. and more than 15 meters wide at the base. A ditch 20 m wide and 10 m deep adjoins the rampart from the north. The bottom of the ditch and the slopes were lined with stone slabs. The height of the rampart from the bottom of the ditch is 18-20 m.

In the distant past, the moat was filled with water, which allowed small ships to pass from the Black Sea to the Azov Sea and back. But over the centuries, the depth of both seas in the isthmus region has significantly decreased, the part adjacent to the isthmus Sea of Azov turned into a shallow Sivash, and the once navigable canal turned into a large steppe ravine. Time and wars have thoroughly destroyed the Perekop shaft. He no longer looks as unapproachable as before. Nevertheless, even now the shaft is striking in its scale (photo on the right).

Historians and archaeologists still cannot give a single answer to the question of the origin of the Perekop shaft. Someone claims that this defensive line is the work of the Cimmerians, and they date it to the end of the VIII - the beginning of the VII centuries BC; someone believes that the Scythians are directly involved in the construction of the shaft.

The Perekop shaft is sometimes called the Turkish shaft for the reason that in the 16th century the Turks carried out fortification works to restore the ditch and the shaft. On the shore of the Karkinitsky Bay, from the west, and at the eastern end of the rampart, near the Sivash, high stone towers were built (the ruins of the westernmost tower have survived to this day). There were other fortifications on the rampart. The main one is the Or-Kapu fortress (from the Crimean Tatar “Gate to the Moat”), which was located in the central part of the rampart, from its south side, and was the center of defense when the enemy was advancing from the north.

To carry out raids from the Crimea and return with loot, a bridge was used, which was held above the water by thick chains. This bridge rose and fell, opening and closing the gates of the fortress. Every year, up to 60 thousand prisoners were brought to Crimea through this bridge.

In 1771, during the Russian-Turkish war of 1768-1774, the Or-Kapu fortress was taken by Russian troops under the command of Prince V.M. Dolgorukov and destroyed, after which it was no longer restored. During the Civil War 1918-1920. and great Patriotic War on the Perekop Isthmus, fierce battles were fought for the capture of the Crimea.

However, let us return from these historical memories to the village of Steregushchey, to which we got from Askania-Nova. The village is small. It stretches out between the highway and the coast of the Bakalskaya Bay (see the map below). The abundance of naked people walking along the route testifies to the fact that this village is a recognized resort center.

Behind the village, the highway turns left at a right angle (see the map on the left) and leads to the urban-type settlement Chernomorskoye, and we should continue straight along the road leading to the Bakalskaya spit. However, after a couple of hundred meters, the language along which our car is moving will not be called “road”. The impression is that the coating is specially made to test the car (and passengers) for vibration resistance. The shaking is terrible, but you have to go.

After 5 kilometers of shaking, we drove up to the barrier, where you have to pay for the entrance to the spit: 5 UAH each. per passenger and another 15 UAH. for every day the car is parked on the spit, if such is planned. Another 2 kilometers of shaking and before us will open a terrible crowd of cars, tents and people, and in the center of this "Babylon" on a hill, the only stone structure stands proudly - a toilet, designed in the best traditions of ancient times. The first desire is to run away from here, but let's not jump to conclusions.

In addition to the toilet, the centers of civilization are the stalls with various drinks and food products located right there. Vendors of pies, boiled potatoes, baklava and other delicacies successfully compete with these “markets”.

The Bakalskaya spit encloses the Bakalskaya Bay from the west, the water in which is theoretically warmer than the water on the other side of the spit. But since we were on the spit in mid-August, we did not feel this difference. Both from the east and west of the spit, the water temperature exceeded 30 degrees. The water in the Bakalskoye Lake is even warmer (see the map above), which gave reason to consider it curative for joints. Since 1972, the spit and the lake have the status of a natural landscape reserve.

The Bakalskaya spit juts out into the sea for 8 km. Its width at the base is 100 m and more, and in the middle part it is about 30-50 m. Cape Sandy ends the spit. The picture below gives some idea of the beginning of the braid.

Having overcome the first negative impression of the abundance of people, we set off along the spit, realizing that the concentration of vacationers would decrease with distance from the objects of local civilization. And so it was. After 700 meters, the road paved on the sand became impassable for ordinary cars. The jeeps climbed farthest, but their row soon dried up.

After one and a half kilometers, the spit appeared in front of us in its pristine beauty. White sand beautifully set off the turquoise of the water. The east wind drove the waves to our right, and on the other side of the spit, the sea was completely calm. The surf washed up the seaweed, which the locals call “kamka”. In color and shape, these algae resemble freshly cut low grass. They can be dried on hot sand and used as soft bedding. Since during a storm the waves rush over the spit, the sand is absolutely clean and washed everywhere. All this can be seen in the two pictures below.

We brightened up our journey with periodic bathing on one side of the spit, then on the other. It was a special pleasure to enter the water on the snow-white sand, very smoothly sinking into the depths. We were also entertained by dolphins jumping out of the water nearby, and large light gray seagulls proudly walking along their sandy domains.

The almost complete absence of people was especially pleasing. Moving three kilometers away from the congestion of cars, we felt like on a desert island. And to the end of the spit there were still about three kilometers. You can pass them along the final spit, Cape Peschaniy, along the left or right bank. Empirically, we made sure that the first version of the passage is twice as long as the first.

Traveling along the left bank of the promontory soon leads to an abandoned tower (visible in the photo above), which apparently once served as a beacon warning skippers of shallow depths. Near the tower, the coast looks like an exotic desert (photo below) with soft white sand. It is an ideal place to set up a tent and spend the night.

Unfortunately, our plans did not include sleeping in a tent. Otherwise, we could enjoy the glowing surf at night. These are small (2-3 mm) creatures sparkling - comb jellies. More than 100 species of these creatures are known. The ctenophore Mnemiopsis is very common (photo on the left). This comb jelly is harmful to the Black Sea ecosystem, as it eats fish food - plankton. But the other ctenophore Beroe feeds on Mnemiopsis, thereby restraining their reproduction.

When we examined the Bakalskaya Spit from the parking lot, Peschaniy Cape seemed to us a narrow strip of sand. In fact, it turned out that this is not at all the case. The cape occupies a large territory, on which there are many small lakes (photo below) and whole plantations of some “reeds”. It's just that from a distance all this is projected into a narrow strip.

A trip along the coast of Cape Peschaniy leaves an indelible impression. Here, at a distance of 8 km. from the coastline, the wilderness of nature, unity with the sea and inimitable beauty Black Sea coast... Particularly beautiful are small coves, washed by waves in soft sand... The shallow water in them sparkles and sparkles in the sun, and glare from the oncoming waves shimmers at the bottom. One of these coves is shown in the photo below.

We came to the most distant part of the spit from the coast, bending around Cape Peschaniy clockwise. This end of the braid does not appear pointed as it appears from a distance. It is also a system of coves with fine white sand and absolutely clear water. And here, as on the entire spit, the sandy bottom very slowly goes to depth (photo below).

If to return to continue moving clockwise along the coast of Cape Peschaniy, then in one place you will have to wade about 100 meters (knee-deep). Since this ford goes along the “reed” thickets, there is no need to look for it - the path itself will lead to the place of the ford.

The picturesque places of the Peschaniy cape are of interest not only for nature lovers, but also for rapa hunters. On the white sand, these delicious mollusks are visible even without a mask, and it is quite easy to find them in equipment. This is what hunters use.

At the end of the topic, we note that, in addition to the option of spending the night on the Bakalskaya spit in a tent, there are other options for stopping near the spit. At 200 meters from the barrier there is a Dolphin camping site with its own beach. And nearby (closer to the village of Steregushchem), two more coastal boarding houses receive guests. There are many accommodation options in the village itself.

Despite the abundance of opportunities, we did not stop for the night, and in the evening we went along the Black Sea route to the village of Olenevka (the former Tatar name of the village - Kara-Adzhi), which is the westernmost settlement of Crimea. This village is located on the shores of the Karadzha Bay, bounded from the north by Cape Priboyny, and from the south by Cape Tarkhankut (see map) with a powerful lighthouse and a museum of ancient anchors.

Soon after entering the village, the road bifurcates: the main one goes straight along the main street, bearing the name of Lenin, and to the right, the road goes to the former estate of General V.S. Popov - personal secretary of Prince G.A. Potemkin. These lands were granted to the general at the end of the 18th century. At the same time, a manor house was erected, and a garden and a park were laid around it. Now the former manor house has been restored and is one of the buildings of the large comfortable boarding house "Solnechnaya Dolina". Erected nearby new building boarding house and service premises.

Inhabitants of Chernomorsk often call their settlement a city and use the name “Chernomorsk”. Previously, this settlement was called Ak-Mechet (from the Crimean Tatar - White Mosque), but in 1944, after the deportation of the Crimean Tatars, the village was renamed "Chernomorskoe".
Until 1953, the cape bore the Tatar name Kara-Mrun (Black Nose). It is the westernmost point of Crimea.

Beach video

The western end of Taurida is a landscape transition - from rocky shores dotted with hydrogen sulfide lakes to sandy semi-deserts. The north of Cape Tarkhankut resembles just such a mysterious Crimea. The traveler remembers Bakalskaya Spit most of all, resembling a sea and at the same time a lake beach. It is, in fact, a large projection of the coast, which has captured an endless water body “inside itself”. This is a natural boundary for recreation - the park of the Tarkhankutsky reserve.

Where is the spit in Crimea?

Going to the Internet, you understand that on the map the Bakalskaya Spit in the Crimea is a segment of the coast in the form of a curving triangle. At its base is the lake of the same name. The land plot is located immediately in the Black Sea and Razdolnensky districts. All this is 3.6 km north of the village of Kotovskoye. Its northeastern side starts right from the settlement of Steregushchee.

History of origin and appearance

Like the rest of the giant shoals of the western Crimea, this spit was formed during a thousand-year work of storms and gusty winds that covered the exit of the former Bakalsky Bay with sand into the Black Sea. That is, the current lakes and strips of land are of estuary origin. The Crimean Tatars were the first to see romance in this corner of the peninsula. The fact is that "Bakalskoe" is formed from the "tank" - a frog. The scythe is shaped like this creature.

As a beach, this location has been used since the century before last, although then it quickly lost its popularity. But now the tract is covered with hostels, mini-hotels, camping and just. The nearest boarding house is called Rubin. It is located on the very border of the Black Sea and Razdolnensky regions - near the village of Steregushchee. It was with the appearance of "Rubin" that the period of glory of the Bakalskaya Spit began, for a long time which attracted only the attention of fishermen. In the Russian period, both fishermen and bathers come here.

What is interesting about the Bakalskaya Spit to visit?

The lake bridge is 3.7 km long, but the spit goes further into the sea - for another 8.3 km. Its widest section is the base (6.1 km). The photo clearly shows that the shore is convenient for swimming here (sand without stones, but with grass - "thorns"). Seasoned Crimean voyagers share secrets about safe entry into the water - that is, you can bring small children here. The relief on the "triangle" is heterogeneous - the highest (above sea level) point is 1.3 m high. There are salt marshes on the surface, especially in the section that goes deep into the sea.

The water here is quite warm, but cold waves are walking 100 m from the coast. This place is widely used for long fishing. They say that there are sterlet and anchovy, mullet and horse mackerel, bluefish and Danube pusanok, garfish and brushes, flounder and big gobies - red mullets, even Black Sea herring (not as tasty as Baltic herring, but with good food).
There are many natives with fishing rods here. From 5 o'clock in the morning there is already someone to ask for advice and support, because not everyone has enough space for. Tackle training is very addictive. All bad things go away by themselves.

Black Sea shrimps also live here, which are openly hunted by dolphins - an amazing sight. By the end of August, lilac in color appear on the water. In other months, you will be "cuddled" by 240 species of birds drooling over crumbs left over from your picnic. In general, in this area there is a lot of reasons for long-term photography.

There are small private shops near both villages. You can buy everything you need in them. Forgot to stop by? No problem. Already at dawn, enterprising residents approach the spit from all sides - they bring bread, drinks, chips and sweets. They also sell huge eggplants with drinking water, corn, and pies. From here you can start to - the neighboring Tarkhankut tract.

How to get to the landscape park?

The best route is to turn to the Chernomorskoye regional center (from the M-17 highway). Then get off the local road in the Kotovo area, heading north. The winding dirt road will take the traveler to. The passage to the northern part of the spit is carried out through the village of Steregushchee (the highway itself bends to it to the village of Chernomorskoe). Along the Bakalskaya spit, however, not all over, there is also a capital road.

By car, you can get to the Bakalskaya Spit from the regional center Razdolnoye as follows:

Tourist notes

  • Address: settlement Steregusche, Razdolnensky district, Crimea, Russia.
  • Coordinates: 45.749577, 33.161865.

Desert mountains, wooded yayly, rocks, pebble banks, steppe, semi-desert, mud volcanoes and lakes - Crimea can be so different. The Bakalskaya spit is one of its incarnations. Judging by the reviews, the narrow sandy edge with semi-desert vegetation is attractive to many vacationers traveling. Still, there is an excellent camping "Dolphin" nearby, suitable for both motorists and passengers of regular buses equipped with a tent. However, she is threatened with extinction - due to the illegal extraction of sand for domestic needs (there is no one nearby). A video about her is attached, enjoy your viewing!

Bakalskaya spit

It should be said that Crimea is very rich in various reserves and reserves, as well as territories that are under special protection. Among them, the so-called Bakalskaya spit stands out for its beauty, which is sand spit, which stretches for six kilometers and is located on the northwestern coast of the Crimean peninsula. She is recognized nature reserve, and there is a certain small fee to visit.

Every year the sand of this spit is washed away by the surf, so its area and length are gradually decreasing. The Bakalskaya Spit is a very interesting and even unique natural site. This spit separates the Bakalskaya Bay from the Bakalskoye Lake, as well as from the waters of the Black Sea. It should be said that the Sámi area of the spit decreases with its length. At the very beginning, this scythe is quite inhabited. As a rule, in the summer you can see a huge number of shawl towns and campsites. There is even a rescue station and a small retail outlet. Therefore, in the summer season, you can relax here and enjoy the clean sea waters and tranquility of the western coast of Crimea.

It should be said that this reserve is especially unique in that it is washed from different sides by different currents. This creates different conditions for recreation here. So, on one side of this spit, the water can be cool and the sea itself is calm, but on the other side the sea will be stormy and the water will be warm. The depth of the Bakalskaya Spit is shallow, and at a distance of about half a kilometer from the coast, it can reach as much as fifteen to twenty meters. But, at the same time, from the side of the open sea, the depth will be much greater, and the bottom will not be as flat as on the coast itself. The soil on the beaches of this spit is represented by small shell rock along with an admixture of sand. There are several recreation centers and boarding houses on the shores of the spit.

The Bakalskaya Spit stretches from Cape Peschaniy to the village of Stereguschee, while, in the form of a semicircle, it bends around a rather shallow calm bay. This corner of the Western Crimea is recognized as simply a unique place suitable for practicing various types of water sports, and also just ideal for families with children. It's actually quite cozy and calm here. If you are planning to spend your vacation here, be sure to try the amazing sturgeon fish soup, and also take a wonderful boat trip to the Swan Islands nature reserve, which are located almost next to the Bakalskaya Spit. For many, this place represents whole kilometers of a beautiful wide sandy beach.

On the one hand, the spit is washed by the sea, and on the other, by the waters of a small and shallow bay, where the water is always warm during the swimming season. If you move along a dirt road, then after two kilometers on your way you will come across a very large tent city. It is always quite crowded and noisy here. But if you prefer a more relaxing holiday, then you need to drive a little further, closer to Cape Sandy. You will be amazed here that in Crimea you can find just huge and, at the same time, deserted beaches. Approximately every one hundred fifty - two hundred meters from the road there are exits to the beaches. Of course, here you will not find any entertainment that is typical for many resort villages of the Crimea. These places are intended for lovers of wild recreation and tourism. The beaches here are very clean and the sea water, largely due to the currents, is also very clean. As a rule, most of the beaches here are composed of small shell rock, pebbles and dried algae.

Due to the fact that the water on this coast is very clean, dolphins are often seen here. They often come here before a storm to take refuge in the waters of the bay. That is why locals and fishermen used to know the weather like that. During a storm it is impossible to swim in the waters of the sea, but the bay remains calm and only the next day small waves appear here. In an organized tent city there is a huge amount of entertainment, including beach soccer, volleyball, beach disco. In addition, you can buy delicious Crimean wines in one of several stalls. So in the tent camp you can rent a catamaran or even a boat from which you can go fishing. After a storm, the waters near the spit are literally teeming with Crimean shrimp, which you can literally catch with your bare hands. Vacationers here are supplied with food, as well as drinking water in the nearby resort village Guarding.

In this village, you can already stumble upon traces of civilization. Bakalskaya Spit is just an ideal vacation spot for the whole family. The water near the shores of the Bakalskaya Spit is almost always very well warmed up, and spearfishing and fishing will bring you real pleasure. If you are all such decided to spend your vacation here, then you should definitely get a mosquito repellent. This is due to the fact that a very swampy area is located nearby and on this spit the wind from the sea always prevails. With the onset of dusk on the spit, a whole infestation of mosquitoes is quite frequent. Entry cost tent camping Bakalskaya spit varies from thirty to fifty hryvnia. Coming here on vacation, you should definitely stock up on drinking water and firewood.

It must be said that if someone rested here at least once, they can confirm that the time spent here will be remembered for a long time. On the Bakalskaya spit, every day you can watch more and more beautiful sunsets, which sets in the sea. It can get a little chilly in the morning due to the changing winds. On a hot afternoon, the sea breeze gives this corner a gentle coolness. The Bakalskaya Spit is more of a nature reserve, in particular, it is presented as a specially protected unique natural object. The beaches of this area resemble the Baltic coast, only with warm coastal waters... The water here is so clean that in the morning, at dawn, you can watch whole schools of fish basking in the sand. By the way, the sandy bottom here forms a kind of lagoons, which are distinguished by water of a gentle turquoise hue.
