The most popular playgrounds in Bangkok

Indoor playgrounds and development centers are the right place for kids in Bangkok. Even 10 years ago, it was difficult to find anything for a child in Bangkok other than boring theme parks at one time. However, recently, Bangkok has become one of the most popular cities v South-East Asia for parents with children, as the number of world-class indoor play and entertainment facilities here is uncountable.

This is why, if you are visiting Bangkok with young children, you have chosen a great place! The guys will be simply amazed at the variety of possible activities in such centers and are unlikely to want to return home!

Kidzania in Bangkok

The world famous brand Kidzania has opened its new center in Bangkok. An entire floor has been allocated for the entertainment area in the Siam Paragon shopping center. In my opinion, Kidzania is the best entertainment and development center for children in Thailand, and one of the best in the world. In general terms, it is small town with quite real, only reduced in size, streets, houses, offices, shops and other attributes of city life. And it's all built for kids. In every corner of this center, your child can learn something new. There is a hospital, a newspaper office, a supermarket, a dentist's office, an airport, and that's not all! One day your child will need to choose a future profession, so let him try everything and decide for himself what he likes best! For example, feel like a pilot, landing a plane at an airport, or an ambulance driver rushing to the scene of a car accident, while his sister learns to be a good doctor at a local hospital to heal all the patients he brings.

Kidzania is an absolutely unique development center for children, not only because here they can learn more about various professions, but also because each job has its own uniform, as well as for their work, the children receive money! One day they will be able to open an account at a "local" bank or buy whatever they want from a shop across the street. Isn't that cool?

You will find Kidzania on the top floor of a chic shopping center Siam Paragon, which is next to Siam BTS sky train station. It is open every day from 10 am, and children aged 4 to 14 years old can participate.

Funarium playground

Funarium is a stunning indoor entertainment center in Bangkok for kids of all ages. What is not here - trampolines, sandboxes, slides, multi-level platforms with obstacles, a creative zone where you can draw or learn how to cook something simple. For teenagers there is a climbing area, a track for rollerblading and safe bicycles, an ice rink, and a basketball court. Your children will not be bored for a minute!

Another huge plus of Funarium Playground is that all rooms are well air-conditioned, which is very important during such active games, because the air temperature in Bangkok can be very high. This is especially important for foreigners who are not used to the heat.

Funarium is located on Sukhumvit Soi 26, right behind the K Village shopping mall. The entertainment center is open daily from 9 am.

Kidzoona

Don't miss the opportunity to visit Kidzoona Entertainment Center if your child is under 12 years old. This is a huge indoor playground in Gateway Mall, which contains slides, trampolines, a whole pool with colorful balls, multi-level slides with obstacles and much more that is bright, beautiful and interesting.

If your kids love to ride a bike or want to learn, then here you can choose any bike, even a tricycle or a whole truck!

On the territory of the entertainment center Kidzoona there is a small children's village where children can buy pizza in a very real tiny pizzeria or send a letter to friends by mini mail. It's very funny!

Kidzoona beautiful place for small children, it is also convenient for parents, as it is located next to the Ekkamai BTS sky train station and near the Gateway Mall, so finding where to have lunch, dinner or buy something is not difficult. The entertainment center is open from 10 am every day.

National Science Museum

Instead of visiting the old and outdated Science and Planetarium Museum in the center of Bangkok, it is better to go to the relatively new National Museum Science on the outskirts of the city. The large-scale National Science Museum was planned taking into account the interests of children, so they will certainly like all the exhibits and entertainment.

The first look at the design of the building, which screams about the modernity of the scientific center and is represented by two cubes connected together by ribs, balancing on tops, creates an impressive grandiose impression. The six floors of the building showcase various exhibitions, self-guided scientific experiments and many other interesting play exhibits. Here you can learn almost everything, from electricity and magnetism to the human body and its health. The museum also has a large science and Thailand exhibition that will especially appeal to tourists and travelers. Don't miss the top floor exhibits featuring small scale models of traditional Thai houses, people, Thai food, arts and crafts.

Do you know, even if you go to Pattaya, you can take your children to some fun in Bangkok? You you can buy tickets for excursions to, from Pattaya... The day tour includes transfer, lunch and park entrance, and costs almost the same as with a transfer from the center of Bangkok. For more information, see the information in the story about the entertainment you are interested in.

Messages began to arrive about the successful purchase of tickets using the website of a Thai tour operator hotels2thailand for attractions, excursions and entertainment in Bangkok. That's why . Buy. Save money. Share your impressions!

Siam Ocean World Aquarium

1. Aquarium Siam Ocean World- the second largest aquarium in Southeast Asia. The largest is in Singapore. We visited the Bangkok Oceanarium when the child was one and a half years old. We can say that the child liked it. We think that if your child is close to nature, then you can visit the aquarium at any age - that is, as an adult. Small children will certainly not be left indifferent by penguins. An interesting "contact zoo" - an area where you can put your hand into the aquarium and touch the "sea creatures".

Siam Ocean World is located on two floors of the shopping center. Its area is about 10,000 sq. meters. More than 30,000 fish and aquatic mammals live in the aquarium. Expect to be here for at least two hours.

The aquarium consists of seven zones:

Each zone is decorated in a special way - a glass tunnel under the aquarium, Antarctica rocks on which penguins live, round aquariums, a glass wall. In the largest aquarium, you can ride in a boat, through the glass bottom of which you can watch the marine life.

In the aquariums you can see blue octopus, sharks, sea dragons, giant arachnid crab ... If you have a diver certificate, you can go scuba diving with sharks accompanied by an instructor.

At certain hours, you can watch how the animals are fed:

sharks - at 13.00 and 16.00; stingrays - at 13.30 and 16.30; penguins - at 12.30 and 16.30 ...

There is a souvenir shop with themed products at the aquarium.

Life hack... The price of tickets to the Bangkok Aquarium. How to pay the minimum. Ticket price plays an important role in the choice of entertainment. It must be said that for tourists, ticket prices are much higher than for locals. To cut down on entertainment expenses in Thailand, there are three options for you:

- issue a Thai license and use them to buy entrance tickets at local prices (suitable for those who make long stops in Thailand);

- contact local tourist offices to arrange excursions with prices for local ones;

- buy tickets in advance on the website of the Thai tour operator hotels2thailand.

Let's consider the algorithm of our actions in detail on the example of visiting the aquarium in Bangkok. We go to the official website of the aquarium... It is made with dignity - in the same style with the sites of Sea Life aquariums located in 35 different parts of the world. The site has a section with a price list for three categories of visitors - locals, tourists and Chinese. The last section is not our topic. Let's compare the price of tickets to the aquarium for Thais and for tourists on weekdays (on non-working days tickets are more expensive):

Where is Bangkok Aquarium located? At the lowest level of the Siam Paragon shopping center. To get to Bangkok Aquarium, you need to get to BTS Siam station.

2. We carried Safari World, the alluring safari world, to the must-have list of entertainment for families with children when traveling in Thailand. This huge (43 hectares) amusement park is located not in Bangkok itself, but in its suburbs. It was opened in 1988.

The park consists of two parts- the safari park itself, where, in conditions as close as possible to living in nature, various Asian and African animals live - giraffes, zebras, tigers, antelopes, leopards, lions and others. You can move around the park in your own cars or in specially equipped excursion minibuses.

The second part of Safari World is the Marine Park. It is home to many species of marine animals. In this part of the park, if you wish, you can take a cruise along the river in the jungle. The park's program includes seven daily shows - with birds, dolphins, seals, monkeys, and a white tiger.

Show times at Marine Park Safari World:
orangutan show: weekdays 10: 20 / weekend 10:20, 15:45;
sea lion show: weekdays 11:00 / weekend 11:00, 16:15;
elephant show: weekdays / weekends 11:40;
cowboy show: weekdays 11:40 / weekends 11:40, 16:40;
dolphin show: weekdays / weekends 13:45;
spy wars: weekdays / weekends 14:30;
bird show: weekdays / weekends 10:20, 15:40;
feeding the tigers: 9:30.

There is a special playground and adventure island for young children.

What is a park without a souvenir shop? The symbols of the park are reflected on T-shirts, caps, handmade souvenirs.

You can replenish your calories at one of two great restaurants - Safari and Jungle Cruise. There are also fast food restaurants where you can dine with Thai or inter national cuisine... For snacks, there are several tents with snacks, soft drinks and ice cream.

Kidzania Bangkok at Siam Paragon

3. Kidzania Bangkok at Siam Paragon... This is a new fun for kids in Bangkok. KidZania in the capital of Thailand was opened in 2014. This entertainment is intended for children from four years old. Of course, keep in mind that there may be a language barrier between your child and staff or other children.

Have you noticed that our entertainment is number one (oceanarium) and this entertainment is located in the same shopping center?

Having opened the first KidZania in Mexico in 1999, the idea was used in 19 countries. There are now 24 KidZania parks in the world. In Russia there is.

What is KidZania? This is far from an amusement park. This is the place where the child will gain useful knowledge, vivid impressions, valuable experience. Walking the streets, a child sees everything that is in a real city - a hospital, a cafe, a dairy plant ... In any of these places, you can "get a job." Children try their hand at different professions (in Bangkok there is an opportunity to get acquainted with 80 professions). Children fly an airplane, create TV programs, extinguish fires ... The journey through the children's country begins at the KidZania airport. After leaving the "airport", the children find themselves inside the "real" city - there are "zebras" at the crossings, cars drive along the roads ...

Dream World-Dream Park

4. Dream World - Dream Park. The largest amusement park in Bangkok. Its area is 28 hectares.

The Thai analogue of the famous Disneyland was opened in 1994. It is decorated in European style.

Can be distinguished four zones of the park:
1) at the entrance to the park we find ourselves on - the main square of the Dream World Plaza. The most interesting events take place here - these are funny carnival processions, festivals, fireworks, and festive performances. The square is surrounded by European-style houses with many cafes with various delicacies. There are also souvenir shops here.

2) In the garden of dreams, various attractions for children and adults are located among interesting compositions of flowers and plants in the vicinity of cascades of waterfalls. The design of the lake and the alley with fountains is pleasing to the eye.

It will be interesting for "seasoned" travelers to compare miniature copies of famous architectural structures with the originals. Here you can see the Pyramid of Cheops, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower, the Ankor Wat temple, and the Taj Mahal mosque ... china wall, then here you can look at "her".

In the Garden of Love, everyone will feel like a romantic. You can admire the beauty of this place from a walking train or from a trailer on cable car.

3) In the land of fantasy, favorite heroes of children's fairy tales and cartoons come to life. We see a house for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, you can "ride" in a carriage for Cinderella, visit the Sleeping Beauty Castle, and at Uncle Tom's farm you can pet real baby animals. In the house of the "sleeping" Giant, you can walk around the room with huge furniture and things, touch everything and even climb into his shoe or sit in his spoon (we hope that the Giant will not have time to eat us) and take funny photos.

Adult children can visit the Hurricane attraction, which will appeal to the most daring thrill-seekers.

4) In the land of adventure, Adventure land, there are attractions for the most daring. Here you can, if you wish, raft down the fast river in the Grand Canyon, race along the "roller coaster", vigorously fly into the lake on a huge boat, see the world from the "Carpet-plane", ride a huge "Viking Boat", "be afraid" in " Fear Room "...
Those who miss winter can visit the snowy city and enjoy winter fun - play snowballs or ride from the snow slides on a sled.

You can hide from the sun and rest your legs in the 4D cinema.

Dream World theme shows:
1) Show Hollywood performance, held on the main square on weekdays at 14.30, on holidays and weekends added at 12.30 / 16.30;
2) "Colors of the World", held in the Garden of Dreams at 15.45;
3) The animal show is held in Fantasy Land on weekdays at 12.00 / 14.00, on holidays and weekends, a performance is added at 15.15.

For a better acquaintance with the culture of local residents, you can visit Cultural Center Ban Tai. What is there: National costumes, architectural objects, examples of folk art of residents from all regions of Thailand.

Elephant trekking is organized in the park.

You can admire the park from above - the cable car is at your disposal.

Lotteries and competition games are held in different parts of the park. The prizes are huge toys.

Attention... It is unlikely that your child will be able to pass by the "wet attraction" Water Fun. Don't forget to bring extra clothes and a towel with you. Take care of the protective cream and headdress.

How to get to Dream World and how much does the ticket cost? On the official website park, you can purchase the package "Attractions - Snow City - Buffet - Transfer" for 1300 TV, without lunch - 1200. According to unverified data (found on the Internet), at the box office a ticket to the amusement park costs 650 TV. Entrance to the "winter" costs an additional 180 TV. And, of course, each attraction is then paid separately (20-50 TV). We hope that we will soon check the relevance of this information and share it with you. In our opinion, it is easier to buy a package of services from agents.

If you want to get to the park on your own, then look for it near Don Muang Airport. How to get to Dream World:
1) by taxi;
2) by bus # 538 from BTS Victory Monument station;
3) by bus # 188 from Mo Chit North Station.

Dream World with Transfer from Pattaya, it costs 31 dollars for an adult, 27 for a child. If you have any questions about such a tour, then there is a support service via messengers Telegram, Viber, WhatsApp: +7 925 5328847. In Russian.

Life hack... If you want to save on tickets to Dream World, buy a tour through agents... The price of tickets for an adult "attractions + 4D" - 314 TV, children (90-140 cm) - 305. With lunch - 398/389. With a transfer from the hotel (attractions + 4D + lunch + transfer) - 802/773.

Note. A taxi from the center of Bangkok to Don Muang Airport costs 250-400 TV (depending on traffic jams).

Siam park

5. Siam Park. This park combines a water park and an amusement park. The complex began operations in 1975. Located near Suvarnabumi Airport in Minburi.

We think that if you are traveling with small children, then it is better to choose Dream World for your first visit. For those who need more extreme, it is better to go to Siam Park.

The symbols of the park are two kittens. One of them is the boy Si, and the other is the girl Am.

There are five zones in the park:

1) X-Zone - a zone for fans of extreme entertainment.

Feel like a character of an Arabian fairy tale on the Aladdin attraction, fly on a carpet-plane.

Attraction "Vortex" - a version of the "roller coaster" with a length of 765 meters, raises you to a height of 33 meters, accelerating to 80 km / h. Extreme sportsmen are provided with unforgettable rings and spirals, ascents and descents.
On the Log Flume ride, imagine yourself doing bobsleigh. Only instead of a bob sleigh you have a large barrel at your disposal, which overcomes the path from the ascents and water descents.
Attraction "Giant Drop" will allow you to feel the feeling of free fall from a height of 75 meters.
We advise you to visit the Siam Park Tower. From here, from a height of about one hundred meters, assess the surroundings and take pictures.

2) Family World;

3) Fantasy World;

In the Fantasy and Small zones, there are swings and carousels for the younger guests of Siam Park.

The Jurassic Adventure area is designed for toddlers - children will be taken by jeep through the "Jurassic forest" inhabited by cavemen and dinosaurs.

The Africa Adventure zone is populated with models of African animals (lions, elephants, monkeys). Among them you can ride a train or boat on the river.

5) Water Park.

The water park has two slides. One is listed in the Guinness Book of Records with the title of the highest speed water slide in SEA.

You can relax and unwind by sailing along the "lazy river".

Wave pool of 13,600 sq. m is listed in the Guinness Book of Records "the largest in the world."

We came to an exciting question - how much does it cost to visit Siam Park City... Everything is similar to Dream World park and other entertainments listed above - for Thais - one price, for tourists - twice as much, but you can buy packages from travel agents with good savings. More specifically:
adult ticket for a day - $ 30, for children (100-130 cm) - $ 25 on the official website of the park. Please note that there is Additional services at the water park for extra money.
agent site- "entrance fee + water park + attractions + buffet lunch" - 446/342 TV, with transfer - 977/875 TV.

If you want to relax in the park Siam Park with Transfer from Pattaya, it costs 29 dollars for an adult, 25 for a child. If you have any questions about such a tour, then there is a support service via messengers Telegram, Viber, WhatsApp: +7 925 5328847. In Russian.

Safari World

Not quite a typical zoo, which is 8 kilometers of open space, where animals roam freely and are not afraid of visitors. The first zone is herbivores. These are zebras, camels, antelopes, gazelles, rhinos and large birds like ostriches, pelicans, cranes.

As you drive through the area, you can stop your car to admire these animals, while at the same time following a few simple rules: drive slowly, do not feed the animals, and do not honk or make loud noises. It is a truly amazing experience when you can safely be among the free animals, which obviously do not pay much attention to it.

In the predator zone, there are stricter rules to follow, given the size of even the smallest representatives, however, you cannot remain indifferent to dormant felines or bathing bears.

After the safari park, you can walk to the marine world, which looks more like a traditional zoo, and watch various performances such as the dolphin show.

Bangkok is great. It dazzles with the luxury of palaces and temples, the lights of skyscrapers, signs of nightclubs - and at the same time remains very alive. But it seems that the metropolis is not a particularly suitable place for family vacation... This is partly true: here you cannot soak up the beach and enjoy the silence. But here there are museums and amusement parks that cannot be found in other Thai resorts.

Why is it worth setting aside a few days for a vacation with children in Bangkok? What to see and where to spend time with your child? How to find a family hotel? Read about all this in the Kidpassage review.

Bangkok on thailand map

Bangkok city is the capital and largest locality Thailand. The city is located on the banks of the Chaopraya River (Chauhpraya), not far from the place where the river flows into the Gulf of Thailand.

Bangkok is almost the size of London and has a population of over 5.6 million. But the city was not always so big, and it became the capital only 200 years ago. And before that, on the bank of the river, where Bangkok is located, there was a port that supplied the then capital of Ayutthaya with provisions. When the brilliant Ayutthaya collapsed under the onslaught of the Burmese army, the king temporarily moved the capital to Bangkok, and then firmly settled in this city.

Meanwhile main city Thailand is called Bangkok only by foreigners. Residents of the country call it Krung Thep, and the full name is several times longer - because of this, Bangkok is included in the Guinness Book of Records.

Vacation with children

Sometimes a trip to Bangkok with children is treated with prejudice: the city is noisy, overpopulated, replete with dubious entertainment, and also devoid of beaches. Therefore, travelers often consider the capital of Thailand only as a transit point, a stopover on the way to seaside resorts.

We are ready to support this position: you should not plan a long vacation in Bangkok. But are you ready to stay in the city for a few days to visit 2 great water parks, Thailand's largest amusement park and 6 unusual children's museums? But this is not a complete list of Bangkok entertainment for children.

Travel to Bangkok will appeal to both preschoolers and teenagers. The former will be delighted with the attractions and playgrounds, the latter can be offered excursions around Buddhist temples, a trip to the jungle or extreme entertainment.

Least of all, the capital of Thailand is suitable for families with a baby. It's not even the city noise, but the heat and high humidity. But if you are planning to spend a couple of days with your baby in Bangkok, you can count on the comfort and peace of mind in a family-run hotel.

The abundance of family hotels in Bangkok- this is a weighty argument in favor of the fact that here you can relax with a child. Even a child who has walked up will not refuse to play in the children's room or take part in the mini-club classes. And if suddenly your child does not show interest in the sights of Bangkok, he can be left in the care of a nanny and go on an excursion.

It should be added that local residents will never refuse to help tourists. They are especially friendly to children. This manifests itself not only in smiles, but also in a real readiness to help - for example, with a child, you can go to the toilet of any cafe without any problems.

When is the best time to go

For adult travelers (especially for those who are going to have fun) the weather in Bangkok is almost irrelevant. But for families with a child, only the period from November to March is suitable... Its main advantages are the absence of rain, moderate heat and relatively low humidity. The child is easily acclimatized and will be happy to accompany you on walks and excursions.

Winter in Bangkok is also a period of fresh fruit. In November-December, it's time to feast on watermelons and coconuts, try exotic sapodilla and langsat, in January-February - lean on pineapples and tangerines, taste guava, papaya and jackfruit. If you are going to Bangkok with your baby, you can make him puree from fruits bought at the market.

It must be said that November-March is the high season in Bangkok, which means that the number of tourists is increasing, which leads to an increase in prices for flights and accommodation. If you book tickets and a hotel room well in advance of your trip, you can avoid unnecessary expenses.

What else will help you decide when is the best time to go to Bangkok?

First, information about the high season at sea resorts. Fortunately, resting in Pattaya, Phuket or Koh Samui is also best from late autumn to mid-spring. You can spend a few busy days in the capital and then relax on the seashore.

Secondly, information about the holidays in Thailand can also be useful: the celebrations here are so colorful and unusual that you should take part in them at least as a spectator. In November, Bangkok hosts a procession of royal barges on the Chaopraya River and the Loy Krathong Festival.

In December, preparations for Catholic Christmas are in full swing here. In mid-January, residents of Bangkok celebrate Children's Day - they organize a lot of interesting events for children. Chinese is celebrated in February New Year(the main festivities take place in Yaowarat Chinatown). And in April comes the time of Songkran - Thai New Year.

Weather and climate

Thailand is hot all year round and the weather in Bangkok is no exception. The seasons differ only in the amount of rainfall: in winter and spring there is almost no rainfall, in summer and in the first half of autumn it rains very often.

The Bangkok climate has one more feature - high air humidity. From spring to late autumn, the humidity is 80%, because of this, the heat is difficult to endure. In winter, the air temperature drops a little, humidity drops to + 65-70%, and spending time in the fresh air is much more pleasant.

The hottest time of the year in Bangkok is spring. The air temperature can rise to + 34-35 ° С during the day and drop to + 25-26 ° С at night. Intermittent rains do not scare locals or tourists who want to see the Thai New Year celebrations.

With the onset of summer, it rains more often. The air temperature drops to + 32-33 ° С during the day and + 26 ° С at night. August, September and October are the rainiest months in the city. At the same time, the heat is + 32 ° С, so the weather cannot be called comfortable. This is the least the right time for vacation in Bangkok.

But from November to February moderately hot, clear, dry weather is kept - therefore the best rest in Bangkok with children is considered a vacation in winter. During the day, the thermometers also keep + 31-32 ° С, but the nights are getting colder: with the arrival of darkness, the temperature drops to + 21-23 ° С.

Nutrition

Breakfast buffet is a common offer of hotels in Bangkok. Occasionally a continental or American breakfast is offered. But you can't count on "all inclusive" here, which means you will have to find a restaurant where you will have lunch and dinner.

Bangkok has many restaurants serving European food. But you should not give up the national cuisine either: in Thai cuisine, rice, vegetables, mushrooms, fish and other seafood, chicken and pork are used, and spices give the dishes a special pungent taste. It is enough to ask the waiter to cook "may phet", "not spicy", and your child will have an ordinary broth, omelet, rice porridge or noodles with meat on the table.

Look for the Clean Food Good Taste badge at the entrance to make sure your outdoor cafe lunch is tasty and safe. This is an official quality mark, and it is issued after a rigorous inspection.

The issue of baby food in Bangkok is solved without problems - all supermarkets offer canned food and cereals from well-known brands, dairy products. You can make your own puree from fresh fruits that are sold year round in the markets.

Transport

System public transport in Bangkok is well thought out and certainly necessary for tourists: the city is large, walking from one attraction to another cannot be reached. Due to traffic congestion, a taxi or car ride will not bring much fun, but the metro and buses do an excellent job.

The BTS Skytrain is more than just a mode of transportation in Bangkok. A trip to BTS turns into a whole adventure, because the "hovering subway" sweeps over the city at a height of 3-7 floors.

The BTS includes City Line, Express Line and BTS trains. Also in Bangkok there is an underground metro - MRT. The fare depends on the distance and is 15-42 TNV.

Tickets for children have the same price as tickets for adults. The ticket must be kept until the end of the trip, since it is at the exit that the fare is charged (sometimes you have to pay extra).

Bangkok also has many bus routes... The fare depends on comfort. A ticket in the simplest buses costs 6.50-7.50 TNV, in express buses (white-red) - 8.50 TNV, in air-conditioned buses (white-blue and yellow-orange) - 10-18 TNV and 11 -23 TNV, depending on the distance. The timetable is available on the carrier's website.

Another type of urban transport is express boats and river taxis. There are no traffic jams for them, and the trip can be viewed as an excursion. For example, along the Chaopraya River by boat, you can reach the Ratannakosin Peninsula, where the Grand Royal Palace is located, and many other attractions. The cost of such a trip is from 10 to 40 TNV.

A special exotic of Thailand is tuk-tuk, or auto rickshaw. This is a three-wheeled carriage motorcycle for 2-4 passengers.

In resorts, tuk-tuk is often the only way to get to the desired place, but in the capital it is rather just a colorful entertainment for tourists. Sometimes nimble tuk-tuk are invaluable in getting around Bangkok, as they can bypass the traffic jam. The fare must be negotiated with the driver: it will be much higher than a bus or metro ride.

Taxis can be used at night when no other transport is running. Traveling around the city in cars equipped with meters will cost 50-250 TNV. You have to bargain with a taxi driver who does not have a meter. It is not worth renting a car to travel around Bangkok. Heavy traffic, left-hand traffic and the dashing rickshaws are all tiring and sometimes dangerous.
