G blanes spain. Blanes - a resort with an indescribable medieval flavor

In my opinion a resort town Blanes in Spain is one of the most balanced. That is why, those who are looking for comfortable rest on the sea in Spain from year to year they choose Blanes - reviews of tourists are almost always positive.

It is especially good to come to Blanes during the off-season - in May or September. At this time, there are very few tourists, prices in hotels are moderate, the weather is consistently sunny and even the sea is quite conducive to swimming.

In the photo: the promenade in Blanes. Spain

In Blanes there is no youth tourist fever like in the neighboring one, there is no typical historical congestion like in Barcelona, it is not big, not small :) Blanes is a lively, simple and comfortable seaside town, with all the usual Spanish characteristics.

What to see in Blanes

The visiting card of Blanes is the embankment, which stretches along the sea for 4 kilometers. This is the main attraction and a favorite promenade spot for locals and the rest of the public.

It's nice to walk along the boulevard in different time looking at the beach goers and admiring the sea.

Beaches in Blanes

Beaches in Blanes stretch for several kilometers along almost the entire embankment, which is very convenient for relaxation. At the same time, the beaches in Blanes are municipal everywhere, so you can swim and sunbathe anywhere. In many places on the beaches you can rent an umbrella and sun lounger. Of the minuses - there are no changing cabins.

Blanes landmarks

Climb the mountain where the old fortress De Sant Joan is located for a great view of the whole of Blanes.

And not far from the observation deck there is an excellent one - there will be time to see the plants and appreciate the gorgeous views of the De Sa Forcanera bay.

The Sa Palomera cliff divides the Blanes promenade into two halves. It is a kind of tourist symbol. All tourists rush to climb the cliff to take a photo or fix romantic locks on the railing.

Northern part of the beach Blanes reserved for the port. There is a convenient marina for yachts and fishing piers. Near the port there is an old and a new fish exchange, where fishermen sell their catch to local restaurateurs in the morning.

The old part of Blanes perfectly retains its flavor and unique Spanish charm. Walk the deserted narrow streets for a siesta, then return in the late afternoon.

It is very pleasant to buy fruit or nuts here on your way back from the beach. Very few people speak English, so you have to learn it.

Holidays in Blanes - reviews of tourists

Andrey (Krasnodar) - for the first time we came to Blanes on a tour, but now every June we go here on our own. The main thing is that you need to book your apartment early. Blanes is not rubber :)

Marita (Riga) - “In recent years it has become very easy to get to Blanes, - there are inexpensive low-cost airlines from Riga. We fly every year. I consider the beaches in Blanes to be the best in the Costa Brava ... "

The Spaniards, decorating their houses and streets, create a uniquely cozy atmosphere throughout the city.

An interesting feature of Blanes is that most of the waiters in cafes and restaurants are men with aristocratic manners :)

In the heat in local cafes it is worth trying "sandy" - beer with lemon, or treat yourself to a delicious ice-cold one.

Another one local feature- Blanes has the world's most daring pigeons. Brave birds are not afraid of tourists, they can easily trample your feet and boldly check the contents of your cans :)

What to see

Although Blanes is the oldest city Spain, and its history goes back more than a dozen centuries, it is not overloaded with any historical sights. And yet, here, as in all of Europe, the remnants of medieval culture have been preserved. First of all, it is the San Juan Tower, the construction of which dates back to the XI-XII centuries. From here, a magnificent panoramic view of the city and its surroundings opens up. Nearby is the ancient Romanesque chapel of St. Barbara. The fountain of San Joan, built in the 15th century, is considered an example of Catalan Gothic. It is a stone octagonal tower with a pointed spire and gargoyles.

The city has a large number of cathedrals and churches. The most prominent is the Church of Santa Maria, founded in the 14th century. This building is striking in its grandeur and beauty. Another relic is the Monastery of the Capuchin Order of St. Anne, built in the Gothic style. During the Civil War, the monks left the monastery, but not so long ago the building and the adjacent territory of the park were reconstructed. Today it is a wonderful recreation area for tourists and residents of Blanes. The largest number of samples of the centuries-old history of the city is concentrated in the area of the "Old City". Here are located typical and, in their own way, fascinating, old narrow streets, walking along which you immerse yourself in the atmosphere of past centuries. This harmonious blend of the Middle Ages with modernity enchants and captivates even sophisticated travelers.

A must-see is the Marimurtra Botanical Garden. He is rightfully listed as one of the beautiful places not only Spain, but all of Europe. Huge variety flora truly impressive and astounding. The garden is divided into three zones: flora of the temperate zone, Mediterranean and subtropical. The abundance of all kinds of flowers, trees and cacti will undoubtedly appeal not only to botanists, but also to all connoisseurs of beauty. Here you can simultaneously visit India, Spain, and after passing a hundred meters you will be transported to the atmosphere of Japan. Each plant has a card, which indicates the name, characteristics of the species and family to which this specimen belongs. In the back of the garden, there is the opportunity to relax on benches in cozy gazebos, enjoy the aromas of flowers and admire the magnificent views from the hills to the rocky Costa Brava.

Not far from the city is the world's largest botanical garden of cactuses - Pigna de Rosa, founded in 1945 by Fernando Riviera de Caralt. A large-scale collection of the genus of succulents is collected here, which, in addition to cacti, includes aloe, agave, liptos, etc. In total, the garden contains more than 8 thousand species of plants from all continents; its area is about 50 hectares. All conditions are created there for an interesting pastime with the whole family: you can stroll along the shady alleys, relax on benches or visit a cafe. Children will love the small but very picturesque pond with many swimming fish.

Recreation

Blanes is a universal resort, and, despite its small size, there is a huge number of hotels, cafes, restaurants, bars and shopping centers, everyone will find something to their liking: shopping, exploring historical monuments, walking through unique botanical gardens, parks and an elegant promenade. Many tourists come here for a peaceful beach holiday... The subtropical Mediterranean climate with a lot of sunny days creates favorable weather for holidays in Blanes throughout the year, even though its geographical position causes frequent winds. The four-kilometer coastline of the city is divided by a rocky outcropping, forming several magnificent beaches. In the central part of the city, they have all the necessary infrastructure: a shower with fresh water, a toilet, umbrellas, sun loungers, changing cabins. For active water recreation you can find scooters, jet skis, windsurfing and sailing equipment everywhere. Every year, local beaches are awarded the Blue Flag for their cleanliness and amenities.

Tourists who come on vacation with children should definitely visit the popular Marineland Dolphinarium and Water Park. It is located outside Blanes, but it is easy to get to. The time spent here will be remembered for a long time by vivid impressions both for children and their parents. On a large area of 64 thousand square meters, there are many attractions, water slides, labyrinths, serpentines and areas for outdoor activities with the whole family. In the dolphinarium, you can watch interesting performances with the participation of sea lions, seals and dolphins, take photos with marine life in memory of Blanes. You can buy small gifts for family and friends in numerous souvenir shops. The water park is open to the public from May to September.

For more than a hundred years, one of the brightest Blanes entertainments has been the international fireworks festival, held in the summer, at the end of July. During the celebration, the city turns into a fairy tale and for a whole week its night sky is illuminated with thousands of bright flashes of the most intricate fireworks. This stunning sight will remain a bright spot in your memory, as will your visit to the oldest Catalan city.

Quite recently, it just so happened, brought me to Sevastopol. I come and the first thing I do is choose a restaurant. I stopped at the famous with local cuisine, well, so that without experimenting. I just really wanted to eat. I'm stomping to burst.

Cod me with sun-dried tomatoes, please - command the waiter.

Fifteen minutes, and I have a boat of food on my table. I try it - delight. I chew slowly ... At the same second, thoughts turn into a bird and fly ...

Warm summer evening. Embankment of the Mediterranean. White linen floor-length dress. A restaurant. As white as me. Huge wicker hammock chairs. Candles flicker, and dozens of chattering puffs around: they came as usual to treat themselves to red in the company amigos. Have they are so accepted, tradition.

This is Blanes, friends.

My acquaintance with this city happened in 2010. Since then, he has captured my heart. Every year, two or three times, I come here. Why did Sevastopol send me to Spain? It's all about the food ... About her a little later, but for now, about the route to this Catalan handsome. What to see and where to stop to hang out on the beaches of the Costa Brava and get acquainted with the Spanish flavor.

How to get there

Blanes is located 3,500 kilometers from Moscow and 4.5 hours over the clouds on a large iron bird.

There is no air terminal in the village, which means that to the indicated hours we add a couple more for the passage by a steam locomotive or a limousine.

By plane

There are two options to get closer to the resort town:

  • buy a plane ticket and fly to (Barcelona), to El Prat airport;
  • take off on a winged air bus in (Girona), in Aeropuerto de Girona-Costa Brava.

To Barcelona

The advantages of coming to Barcelona are as follows: the destination is massive, and therefore relatively cheap, and the assortment is large. The average price for a round-trip ticket from Moscow is 14,000 rubles. The possibilities to get there from Barça are like rice in a bag, which makes the trip to Blanes faster and more convenient than from Girona.

For a budget flight, a Spanish low-cost airline is suitable. Vueling, flights and direct, and with connections. Baggage for additional money, carry-on baggage free of charge, no food on board. V holidays the cost of the flight increases to 30,000 rubles.

For more information on how to get to Barcelona, read about the city.

To Girona

In the case of Girona, the best carrier will be Pobeda, the low-cost airline of Aeroflot. Tickets need to be looked for in advance: they are quickly sorted out. The airline's reward for a flight on good days of sales is from 8,000 to 12,000 rubles. But this is not often the case. You can take 5 kilograms of bags with you in the cabin for free. If you want 10 kilograms, you will have to pay 1,500 rubles. Check in suitcases - 500 rubles per 10 kilograms. They are not allowed to die of hunger - they distribute sandwiches. And I almost forgot to take on board a duty free package, too, for some money - 2,000 rubles.

Additional information about how to fly to Girona from Russia, read about this Spanish place.

To end up in warm Blanes, you need a bus / train / taxi.

From Barcelona to the resort 87 kilometers. From Girona - 32 kilometers. It is convenient to monitor discounts and promotions on tickets to one of these cities. I will tell you about the route to the resort village below.

By train

Barcelona to Blanes

The train is never an easy way for the first trip, because the route to the village is mixed: bus, train and again bus.

So. We disembarked from the aircraft, went through all the controls, received the luggage and set off following the airport terminal signs to the Ikarus. When you get there, look where there is a shuttle to the center of Barcelona, that is, to Plaza Catalunya (Plaça de Catalunya). It will be written on the machine. Buy tickets either at the ticket office at the airport or from the driver. Show him with your fingers how many tickets you want - he will understand. The locals speak English badly. They don't speak Russian at all. Spanish and French to help. The journey takes 30 minutes. The price of the road is 5 EUR.

Upon arrival in the capital of Catalonia, find the metro - Passeig de Grácia on the R2 line. Buy a new ticket from the vending machine to Blanes station, switch to R1, and go to the village for 2 hours by steam train. For 6.15 EUR. R is the line cercanías, the so-called Spanish suburban trains. Trains every 30 minutes. Travel coupons can be bought on the website Renfe.

And yes, that's not all. From the station where they will rush you, you will have to take a bus ride to the hotel settlement again. Minutes 10. Choose at the station the one who will have the Blanes sign. The price is about 1.15 EUR.

Hooray! You are in the center of the city. The main street, as in Barça, is Plaza Catalunya ( Plaça de Catalunya).

From Girona to Blanes

If you flew from Moscow to Girona, then by analogy with Barcelona, after descending from heaven, you need to find buses. It's easy - follow the signs to the side estación de autobuses... Choose the one that goes to the train station - it estación Girona... Just in case, a map and address:

Plaça Espanya, 4 Girona 17002(Plaza de España, 4 Girona 17002)

Tickets, as usual at the ticket office at the airport, for 5 EUR.

Have you reached the electric steam locomotive harbor? Then board the new train to Blanes. 40 minutes for 4 EUR and you are at your destination. Railway company the only one in the country, so tickets can be bought in advance on the already well-known website from Renfe... A bus will meet you at the city station and take you to the center of the resort.

By bus

In addition to trains, you can cover the path from the airport to the Mediterranean village with one mode of transport - a bus. I always mention in my notes that the Spaniards love them. It's cheap and quite comfortable.

Barcelona to Blanes

In the terminals of the air terminal T1 and T2 directly to the desired point, every hour, two numbers of cars # 603 and # 614 start, the carrier - Sagalés... Travel time is 2 hours. The fare is 11 EUR. Tickets from the main bus uncle, or on the company's website. To the delight of tourists, travelers entertains all the way wi-fi... From Blanes station to the city center, yes that's right, another bus.

Estació d "Autobusos de Blanes v resort village one, which means you already know the route to the center.

From Girona to Blanes

From Aeropuerto de Girona-Costa Brava bus number 605 goes to the Catalan town. The route is once a day, in the second half. The fare is 10 EUR. Rolling with the breeze and the Internet, you will be on the spot in an hour. Do not forget to take another bus in Blanes to the tourist area. I don't use it, I walk. But for the first time, you don't need to repeat after me - a promenade with suitcases 20 minutes long will be a so-so idea. Walk another day, there are many shops along the way.

To find your hotel after completing the train and bus quest, visit the kiosk Información - this is an information item . He's at a bus stop in Plaza Catalunya (Plaça Catalunya)... Take a map of the village there, all hotels are marked on the paper plan. If anything, then the map is mapa de la ciudad.

By car

Another way to get from the airport to the place of rest is by car. There are two options: a checkered machine or a personal car.

By taxi

There are plenty of yellow limousines at the airport. As soon as you pass all the controls and take your bags from the spinning belts, follow the arrows to the street. There are a lot of cars at the exit from the airport.

Just don't try to hail a taxi yourself. This is not the case in Spain. No one will stop at your call, you will be wasting your time.

The route Barcelona - Blanes will cost 170 or 200 EUR, from Girona it will cost you 50 - 70 EUR.

On a rented car

A very comfortable way, I always use it. This is freedom and mobility. Someone may now think "what about white wine in the midday summer heat at dinner?"

I answer. Spain is a country where wine is cheaper than water. And it is drunk here always, everywhere, with or without reason. Therefore, it is legal to drink alcohol even if you have to drive. The allowed rate is 1 glass of wine or a mug of beer.

Take a typewriter? Then I advise you to engage her at the airport. The prices for getting in the aero or in the city do not differ much. But avoid unnecessary wanderings with luggage in unfamiliar terrain. A few important words about renting a baby who will ride you with the breeze along the sea - in the section "Rent a vehicle".

When is the season. When is the best time to go

Summer? Obviously yes. Sun, sea, warm romantic walks along the promenade and evening picnics on the beach when the tourist craze subsides.

But you know, friends, and Blanes is beautiful in March. Yes, you won't be able to embrace the sea and float over the horizon. But the silence and calm Mediterranean, the absence of a million travelers will be your reward for not wallowing in the sand.

Spring or autumn is a good time to visit the sights and take a ride in the Pyrenees, to the oyster farms of French Carcassonne (Carcassonne) and (Perpignan)... To the old (Sitges) or (Figueres)- the city of Salvador Dali. The disadvantage of visiting in winter is that most hotels are closed because of the off-season.

The weather in the city is average temperature. In May it can be plus 13, in March as well. As luck would have it, it happens between 15 and 17. It is warmer in summer, but it never gets particularly hot. The sea is of medium temperature. Not warm or cold. The best months for swimming are from June to early September.

At the end of August, several weeks are an hour of bats. Horror creatures hover in the evenings right above the embankment, without any conscience and human fear. Tourist hats and panamas.

Blanes - monthly weather

Prompt:

Blanes - monthly weather

Districts. Where is the best place to live

Blanes is a small charming town divided into two parts:

  • tourist,
  • and colorful Spanish living.

The first is home to hotels, a fair, discos, restaurants and shops. It consists of the center with the embankment and the outskirts, where mobile homes are parked for the night. In the picture - 1 and 2. Hotels - a plural collection, in different designs. The richest are four stars. Across the street from the beach. I usually find hotels and book on, and compare prices

For an active and fun holiday, it is more interesting to settle in the center, everything is always nearby: beaches, bars, clubs. It is not particularly cozy in the campground area and it is not close to the sea with a cafe, you will definitely have to walk a kilometer.

The second part of the city is residential areas: houses, pharmacies, supermarkets, markets, restaurants, schools. On the pictures 3 and 4. In the area with number 3 you can find hotels, however, they will be about fifteen minutes from the sea and among Spanish apartment buildings. Overlooking someone's balcony. And it won't always be a terrace with flower pots.

If the purpose of your trip is to get away from the hustle and bustle and get to know the local life, the best thing is to settle in the Santa Barbara area, which is next to the Botanical Garden, on the map - 4. There are no dull high-rise buildings. Here are houses on earth. With gardens and patios, hammocks and BBQ areas. The budget price for peace of mind and the opportunity to be a Spaniard for a while is 100 - 150 EUR per night. If you're lucky, there will be a pool or the sea in one step.

Now about hotels tourist area, number 1 on the map of Blanes.

  • Hotel Horitzo & Spa - a whopper on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, on the main beach of the city. You can get accommodation for 110 EUR per day. Address: Passeig de Abanell, 11 Blanes 17300. Passeig de Abanel, 11 Blanes 17300

  • Do you want a hotel with the same high status, but for less money? Then it will do Petit palau. He's here, look at the map, three blocks from the seafood, so they will ask for 80 EUR per night. Address:Carrer Lluis Companys, 19 Blanes 17300. Rue Luis Cumpans, 19 Blanes 17300
  • To my capricious and picky taste, the best hotel in the village has become not the most stellar - Hotel Pimar & Spa. Treshka. Why do I like him? Per Tasty food, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 30 seconds from the sea. For its proximity to the central Spanish handicraft fair. For a fun program every evening. For the rooftop pool and fond memories of the days we met here. The only negative is cocktails at the bar. Well, that's just so-so drinks. If you are resting here, choose the national sangria, it is bombic. The front desk staff speaks Russian. Living by the sea - 60 EUR per day. Address: Passeig S'Abanell, 8 Blanes 17300. Passeig Sabanell, 8 Blanes 17300
  • One block away from Petit palau and four hundred meters from the beach there is another pretty dwelling - Hotel Esplendid ... Three stars, renovated a couple of years ago. Price 40-50 EUR. City center from a hotel like Paris from Moscow. Address:Avenida Mediterráneo, 17 Blanes 17300. Avenue Mediterraneo, 17 Blanes 17300

Be sure to book hotels in advance, and if you are planning Hotel Pimar & Spa, then seven or eight months before arrival.

  • From October to May, most of the hotels, as I said, are closed. I love those that await guests Hotel Costa Brava ... Three stars and a kilometer from the center, on the map of the city districts - 3. Very mediocre, but I love my grandfather at the front desk. We are friends with him. Therefore, when an overnight stay is required in the winter, I go to the old man. The usual cost of a room is 50 EUR per day, in summer it can be 100. Address: Carrer d'Anselm Clavé, 48 Blanes 17300. Rue Anselm Clave, 48 Blanes 17300

What are the prices for rest

Spain is not an expensive country when compared, for example, with northern Europe. This applies to accommodation, meals, and travel costs. Therefore, the rest is financially comfortable. So much so that one day, under the cries of friends "where are you rushing, is there a crisis in the world?", I quit my job and went to live in Andalusia.

Prices for accommodation in Blanes from 50 EUR. A lunch for two with drinks in a budget cafe will cost 25-30 EUR. Buses within the city are carried for 1-2 EUR. A taxi on the same territory will cost 7-10 EUR.

Major attractions. What to see

We figured out how to get there and where to stay. With beaches, I think, in general, problems will not happen. I'll tell you about them later, just in case. In the meantime, about the cultural, what architecture and landscapes to look at.

Before you go on a tour of the city, I advise you to get a map - the main and necessary places will be marked on it. A paper plan is available at the front desk of every hotel.

Top 4

From the interesting things in one of my favorite towns, here's what:

  • Cape Sa Palomera- a mountain of stones on the embankment and the flag dangles from above. Friends, in every city there is always a place where you need to make wishes. So in Blanes it is here. Climb the ladder and dream.

  • San Juan Castle(Castillo de San Juan)... A tower that can be seen from any side of the city. Built, as usual for the defense of the inhabitants, in the XIII century. You can get to the fortress by car along the mountain serpentine or on foot 170 meters up. The latter method can be difficult, especially if the summer is hot outside. Take some water on the road for a drink. As you climb, the reward will be spectacular views of the village, coastline and port with boats. And also national delicacies that are sold near the tower - tapas, beer and sangria. Do not forget to charge your gadgets before walking, you want to take a photo every second. The director of the film "Perfume" was probably also very impressed by the beauty, so he shot several scenes in San Juan. The entrance to the castle is free.

  • Botanical Garden (Jardi Botánic Marimurtra) located on the road to San Juan. Tropical plants and all possible assorted cacti have settled inside. All flora is divided into climatic zones: subtropical garden, temperate garden and Mediterranean. During the walk, there are signs on poles to make it clear what and where. From June to September, viewing flowers and herbs is allowed from 09.00 to 20.00, in April, May and October - from 09.00 to 18.00, from November to March - from 10.00 to 17.00. Public holidays - December 25 and 26, January 1 and 6, the botanical garden is resting. Entrance 6 EUR. You can get a diagram in Russian from your ticket aunt with recommendations on routes.

Beaches. Which is better

Sights in the city, you guessed it, are few. If the weather is fine, then you can walk through all of them in one day. Rest under the sun the rest of the time.

In the tourist area, the main and largest beach is S'Abannel . Three kilometers of sea beauty ...

The hotels with the first line are right here. In Blanes, the beach is a public recreation area. The hotels do not have their own private exits to the water.

There are ice cream stands and sugary cocktails on the sand. Showers and changing rooms. Sunbathing cots for money, about 5-8 EUR, they are rarely used. On the waterfront, as expected, restaurants overlooking the blue blue waves.

For those who love leisure- scooters and catamarans for rent.

Of the minuses - a heap of sunbathers, it happens that screaming Russian obscenities. Convenient in location, but not always comfortable.

The residential area has its own beaches. Not big, cozy and with a little bit of tourists. All with the same restaurants and ice cream. In order to find yourself in such a place, you have to walk. Take a walk along the coastal strip and stop to sunbathe at whatever you like.

On the way, go to supermercado, this is a supermarket. Buy fresh Spanish bread, snacks and have a small picnic by the sea. Then at lunchtime you will also have paella and Moregada, but chewing bread with olives and ice-cold white wine to the noise of the Mediterranean is always great.

Whichever shore you choose, count on the sea to be clean, there are no aquatic animals. Waves are rare guests, and the entrance to Poseidon's kingdom is sandy and fearless. No breaks and irregularities.

Well, my favorite beach is San Frances(Sant Francesc) .

Churches and temples. Which are worth visiting

  • Chapel of Saint Barbara(Ermita de Santa Barbara de Blanes) you will see her on the way to the castle of San Juan - they are neighbors. Santa Barbara, and in its part also the district of the village is named, the Blanissians consider their patroness.

  • Church of Santa Maria (Iglesia de Santa Maria) - a gothic temple, in its original form the building has not survived to us. What you can see is a recreated reconstruction.

Tourist streets

On the Sabanell waterfront, on weekend evenings tourists are attracted by souvenir houses. Handmade jewelry, interior gizmos, bags and clothes. Here and a million braids kind African-American aunts weave.

What to see in 1 day

Friends, if you are relaxing in a neighboring town and plan to visit Blanes for only one day, then here are some suggestions for you:

  1. First of all, take a look at Información for a plan of the village, it is in Plaza Catalunya.
  2. Nearby in a cafe overlooking the sea waves, before a walk around the resort town, drink aromatic local coffee.
  3. And head to San Juan Castle. Do not forget that the road is not easy - a fortress on a mountain.
  4. Got a look at the city from the tower? Then it's time to return to the sea and on the way go to the Marimurtra Botanical Garden to say hello to the cacti.
  5. If time permits, visit the Passeig Dintre boutique street to bring along a nice souvenir or update your wardrobe with Spanish designer items.
  6. Finish your trip to the Catalan village with dinner on the waterfront. Overlooking the sea horizon. And one more attraction is Cape Sa Palomera.

What to see in the vicinity

Now interesting for those who live in Blanes, but do not plan to wallow on the beaches day and night. Several routes outside the resort:

  • Lloret de Mar(Lloret de Mar) is a youth holiday city. Discos, five-star hotels, beaches. I don't remember this place for anything. You can get there from the Blanes bus station. The one you came to see from Barça or Girona. From the central street Plaza de Catalunya (Plaça Catalunya) get to the station and change to the bus to Lloret. The fare is 2 EUR. Distance - 7 kilometers.

  • Tossa de Mar(Tossa de Mar) - there are incredibly beautiful streets here, because they are all in flowers. The road to the city by sea by boat or by land by bus. The boat leaves the embankment port, check prices and schedule in advance in the same place. The second way - by analogy with traveling to Lloret, the cost of tickets is 2 EUR one way. By taxi - 30 EUR for 20 kilometers.

  • Figueres (Figueres)... The place where one of my three favorite artists was born - Salvador Dali. There are several galleries of this genius in the world, there are also in, in Spanish Cadaques and in. An exhibition of installations in Figueres. The building in which the masterpieces of the surrealist were housed was designed by him. The Dali Museum is 87 kilometers from Blanes. You can get there from Girona station by train. 30 minutes, 6 EUR and you are there.

  • Perpignan (Perpignan)... A northern French village on the way to the Carcassonne oyster farms.

A very nice town in terms of beauty and energy. If you are traveling by car, be sure to go there. Home wine estates all along the way. And in every family shop where you can buy a drink for yourself. Young to good fifteen. The older one - 20-30 EUR.

You choose a plantation, they are indicated by signs on the way, and go for red or white. You can also get there by bus. From Girona airport to Perpignan, a Flixbus car is driven twice a day. At 9.00 and 15.00. Tickets for 9-12 EUR. The journey takes 1 hour 20 minutes and 135 kilometers.

  • Carcassonne (Carcassonne)... A walled city inside which people live in old houses, like in or.

In addition to the fort, Carcassonne has a modern quarter. Old, well, you already understood, this is a castle. He, and I now will not surprise you even once, on the mountain. A bridge is a special asset here. It is bombastic not less than the landscapes in Ronda will not leave you indifferent. The fortress, like the tower of San Juan, also became famous in the movies. In the eight-league Harry Potter.

New area downstairs. There are hotels, restaurants, apartment buildings and supermarkets.

In addition to its architectural beauty, the city is famous for its oysters. The dish is very strong for lovers, but if you don't know what it is, try it.

Distance from Blanes - 270 kilometers. You can get there either by rental car or by bus. All from the same station in Girona. If you use Flixbus, then this is only a night move, for 13 EUR. For more high price can be ordered one day excursion at the hotel where you will be staying.

Food. What to try

And now about how my story began. Food.

Warm summer evening. Embankment. Giant wicker chairs with white cushions. Candles and Spaniards ...

In Blanes, I had dinner for the first time in my life and my heart sank. This is where it happened: Restaurant & Lounge Club Es Blanc.

I don't know of any other restaurant where food would be as blissful. Everything is great here: the atmosphere, the service, the sound of the waves and, of course, the treats. The restaurant is seafood, but for shell-haters there are also masterpieces made from meat or vegetables.

Average bill with drinks 100 EUR for two diners. Friends, the cooking plates are worth it. I have never been tasted more deliciously. Then there was Bilbao with black rice and Sevastopol with cod. But first place and my soul forever in the Catalan coastal Es blanc.

Address: Carrer Mirador de s "Auguer, 26 Blanes 17300

Street Mirador de Sauge, 26 Blanes 17300

Another nice restaurant in Blanes recalls the hospitable Chinese dining room - Restaurant Gran Wok.

Buffet for 7 EUR on weekdays, 9 EUR on weekends. One hungry person. Fortunately, eating approaches are not limited. Every time I do not have time to peel off the windows in time and roll out of the refectory round, like a ball. Drinks for individual euros.

Cons - fifty people per square centimeter and the lack of beauty around.

Address: Avenida d "Europa, 41 Blanes 17300

Prospect Evropy, 41 Blanes 17300

There are almost no homely atmospheric cafes in the city, the area is tourist, which means that all restaurants work for foreigners. At lunchtime, from 12.00 to 16.00, guests of the resort are offered a business lunch, call him menu del dìa... Price for salad, soup, main course and drink from 8 to 20 EUR. In my beloved Es blanc- 25 EUR.

All edalni are about the same - choose any. In the center or on the waterfront. Price for lunch above 15 EUR is considered expensive.

What to try from national dishes?

In Catalonia, the main thing is perhaps crema catalana... This is dessert. We estimate by name ... and ... we immediately understand that we are talking about some kind of cream. This is true. It is a liquid substance that tastes like caramel and vanilla at the same time. Served in a stone pot. So, as if, clay with honey.

The rest of the Blanes cuisine is standard Spanish. That is, paella, tartilla, jamon. Paella (paella)- this is rice, with chicken, moregada, rabbit or all at once. Tartilla (tartilla)- omelet with potatoes, I'll tell you the recipe sometime. Well, and sangria (sangria) this is the drink of summer - red wine with fruit, juice and ice. Available in several versions. WITH vino rosado- rose wine, with vino blanco- white, and also with champagne - sangria de cava .

O! I almost forgot. More Horchata (horchata) in the arsenal of the Catalans - cold milk from earthen almonds. For me, it's so terrible. But try it anyway. So that for the jackdaw.

Supermarkets

There are several chains in the village: Caprabo (Caprabo) and the better known Mercadona (Mercadona)... In the latter, the assortment of goods is wider. I go there for shopping for soul home evenings.

In addition to large food stores, there are Chinese tents where you can buy water or some other trifle at any time. They do not close for many hours of fiesta and this is their usefulness.

In the center of the city, near Plaza Catalunya, there is a kiosk of Russian products. For those who miss Greek on vacation.

Markets

At Passeig de Dintre, a fruit and vegetable market is open in the morning.

Middle level

  1. Raco Sa Palomera, Mirador de s "Auguer, 17. A family of kind Spaniards offers to get acquainted with national food for 50 EUR. Average dinner cost for two.
  2. Restaurante Salinas at Plaza Catalunya. Moregada and paella with cuttlefish ink.
  3. Síbaris, Esplanada del port, 11. For cozy romantic evenings, under a glass of white and a plate of Mediterranean tuna.
  4. Lounge Restaurant Sentits , Esplanada del port... Lunches of the day at the price of 15 EUR and overlooking the bay with boats.

About shopping. What is there to tell? Thought ... and my heart pounded. I am sitting on a chair, spinning. I type the article with one hand, with the other I nervously rummage through my husband's pockets in search of wealth for a ticket to Spain. I really like the two shops in Blanes. The spirit of shopaholism calls me to rush off to meet new jeans and bags.

clothing

Girls hold on, the secret of secrets is in the city, on the street just outside Plaza Catalunya , a large collection of shops. These are well-known mass brands, unique boutiques, and Chinese cheap fu-fu-fu. But this is not the secret.

Against Es blanc, in the neighborhood of each other, like a brother and sister, two mind-blowing boutiques live. Yes, yes, I love them.

  • Energy for girls. I don’t know where the young pretty Spaniard takes things for him, but I’ve never seen anything like it. She rested from there for all time: a bright emerald leather jacket, jeans, like those of punk-rock soloists, a couple of boho-style bags and much more. Prices for people. 30-70 EUR per item.
  • Energy for men. The choice is large and not trivial, that is, you will not find similarities anywhere. The hostess speaks Russian and is always in favor of exchanging local news.
  • If you walk along the second line of streets, you will find a scarf shop. My entire closet of flying neck accessories is from there. As for multi-trip travel, I will say that buying handkerchiefs in Europe is a good deal, they are three times cheaper than in Moscow. Here's the truth. In the capital the price is 30 EUR, in Blanes - 5 or 7 EUR. The difference is the little one.

Clubs and nightlife

I hear Blanes and remember anything, just not a loud night in a stuffy club accompanied by a musical rumble. But still there are discos for those who want to have fun:

  • The main club of the Arena village. It is waiting for guests from Friday to Sunday from 23.00 to 06.00. The price of the pass depends on the party.
  • Coastal LasVegas. On Thursdays, when ordering the first drink, the second is free. Free admission every day for everyone, on Saturday - 10 EUR. The club is open only from May to September, on weekdays from 21.30 to 04.30, on weekends the opening hours are extended to 05.30.
  • Essencia. We invite you on Fridays and Saturdays from 0.00 to 06.00. Entrance 5 EUR, the price also includes a glass of drink, for 10 EUR - entrance and two drinks.

The cost of cocktails at discos is from 7 to 15 EUR. The doors open for those over 18 years old. It seems that the loyal Arena allows entry from the age of 16, but there is no confirmation.

And to be honest, a beautiful city is closer to arranging a disco right on the shore. Some music, a couple of friends and dancing until the morning on the beach. I usually do that.

The main thing is that there is enough sangria for everyone.

How to get around the city

Blanes has city buses and taxis. In the case of the former, as already mentioned, the cost to ride is 1-2 EUR. Uncle driver sells coupons. Taxis are decently more expensive. From 7 to 10 EUR per journey. You can order by phone, and best of all, at the hotel reception at the reception.

I do not use either method of transportation. The most convenient thing is hiking, especially when the city is tiny.

Transport rental

Car rental is another way to get around the resort town.

In Spain, as in any other European country, there are many distributors; even the most demanding and capricious ones will be able to choose. From the world there are Avis, Sixt, Hertz and a bunch of others - have already forgotten all their names. Offers from different companies can be compared. The rental price usually depends on the rental period and car brand, as well as additional options. The navigator is there, as an option, or a child seat. On average, the price per day is 50-70 EUR for a manual transmission. Plus on top of a deposit in the region of 1000 EUR, which will be blocked on your credit card until the end of the lease.

On a note, one never pleasant moment - well-known and large companies they like to additionally take money from your card after you return the car. Without notice, of course. The reasons are different and constantly inadequate. Let's say we suddenly remembered that you handed over a dirty car. Even if this is not the case, the stolen money will not be returned. Just in case: washing at Avis costs 120 EUR.

For these and other reasons, lately I have only rented a car from local distributors. For example, Centauro.

At the airport you will be met by a minibus and taken to the rental point. You will pick up and then hand over your baby. The prices are very pretty. The main convenience is that you can buy full insurance for a low price and take a car without a deposit. A mini car for 14 days will cost 550 EUR without a deposit.

When planning a rental, book transport in advance, it is cheaper.

Parking in Blanes is, of course, paid.

Cost from 2 to 14 EUR - depends on the parking time of your car. Before leaving the airport, do not forget to install maps in your phone or tablet in advance Google, they work without network access.

Traffic jams in the village are not observed either in winter or in summer.

Blanes - holidays with children

And finally, about fun for the little ones, if you, friends, are traveling with the kids.

Ten years ago, Blanes received the award as the best for family tourism, since then it has been considered so. But alas, the rest for the little ones in the village, despite this, is not very organized.

If you nevertheless took some puppies with you on vacation, then Gnomo Park will be the best for fun ( Gnomo Park).

This place was discovered by accident and I could not pass by. I wanted so badly to gaze at the funny little men in green caftans and walk through the pine forest that it didn't even happen time to hire someone's kid. She went alone.

TOURISTS ANSWERS:

If Lloret de Mar is the noisiest and most partying city Costa Brava, and Tossa de Mar is the quietest and most beautiful town on the coast, then Blanes is the most ancient city Costa Brava with all the ensuing consequences ... It is located 60 kilometers from Barcelona, and you can get there by a silent train. Of course, Barcelona is generally one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but first you need to look around in Blanes itself, and there is something to see there.

Of course, it is the San Juan Castle that dominates the city's landscape. Although the settlement of Blanes itself was founded by the Romans in the 2nd century BC, the main part of the buildings survived from the 12th-13th centuries, so this wonderful castle began to be built in the 11th century, and was built in the 13th century, and its watchtower , as if descended from the credits of the film "War of Thrones" - in the 16th .. It is best to look at this castle to appreciate its grandeur and grace of form, from an islet located right off the coast of Blanes. By the way, this is also a trademark of this remarkable place - a small island, as if specially created by nature for restless tourists who do not feed on bread, but let them admire the panorama of the mountains and the San Juan castle on the top of the cliff that divides Blanes into 2 parts: the northern and south. Just in the southern part is the entire tourist infrastructure of the city, this is the most beautiful part of Blanes - with lush gardens, a wonderful pine Promenade, amazing beaches. In the northern part there is a port, which must also be seen once, but all the interesting and interesting life of Blanes is in its southern part ...

There are just beautiful beaches here. Talk about their environmental friendliness and constant blue flags ecologists make no sense, since it is a very frequent phenomenon on the Costa Brava, but not to say that the three-kilometer main beach of Blanes S'Abannel is a great place to relax with fantastic views of the cliffs, gentle sea and pleasant sand that slightly massages your feet you just can't ... And lovers of a more secluded holiday can always use the Treumal and Santa Anna beaches, as well as vacationers with children - the magnificent San Francesc beach, not only surrounded by Mediterranean pine trees and equipped with playgrounds, but also a rarity for the Costa Brava and Costa - Maresme - a gentle descent into the water, which is so loved by the smallest tourists ... Therefore, of course, along with the castle of San Juan, the main attraction of Blanes is its beautiful beaches, which have passed the test of time and many generations of tourists, because Blanes - one of the very first resorts on the Costa Brava.

I would like to encourage inquisitive tourists reading this material to search for medieval pearls scattered throughout old Blanes - and the castle of the Viscounts Cabrera (12th century), and the Gothic fountain (15th century), and the Gothic monastery, and the gate of the Virgin Mary ... Believe me, it is in Blanes that there is something to see in the city itself, the old streets of which are so pleasant to walk after a beach day ...

A tourist mini-train runs along Blanes, which for 14 euros will save you the need to walk a lot and will show you the whole town in 1 hour. If you do not want to look for medieval sights yourself, a trip on this miracle of technology will solve this problem, just as it will take you to the Marimutra Botanical Garden with its splendor primarily of conifers. Visit this wonderful garden anyway!

Of the entertainment and nearby attractions, it is worth mentioning the boats that, for reasonable money (depending on the distance, 10-25 euros) will take you to both Lloret and Tossa, giving you the opportunity to admire the "Wild Coast" (this is how the Costa Brava is translated) with its bizarre indented rocks, the splendor of which is breathtaking ... It is impossible not to mention the "Marineland" - a large and interesting water park, located near Blanes in almost neighboring Santa Susanna, from which children will be delighted ... Well, and so ... in front of you, in addition to ancient Blanes, this wonderful Mediterranean town, the whole of Catalonia is open. Barcelona and Gerona, Figueiras and Lloret are all within easy reach from this wonderful place ...

Botanical Garden Marimutra

Once in Spain in Blanes, all tourists rush to the Mar i Murtra Botanical Garden to get their share of aesthetic pleasure. And it is no coincidence. This beautiful, stunning walking area is located in the northern part of the resort. The garden contains a huge collection of all kinds of plants. Among which are cacti, conifers, cypresses, exotic specimens, plants from different climatic zones... The territory is neat, it is clear that the workers take care of it with love. Gazebos, walking peacocks, ponds with blooming lilies and lotuses are just a small part of what you can see there. On a hot day, the Marimutra Botanical Garden will become a saving refuge from the heat, where you can comfortably sit in the shade and admire the extraordinary views of the sea and rocks. A visit to Marimutra will also be interesting for naturalist photographers. Unique types of flowers captured in macro mode will become invaluable photographs.

You can get to the Botanical Garden on foot or by bus that departs from the center of Blanes. The park is closed on Mondays. Bus travel and entrance ticket are paid (5 and 6 euros). I do not recommend going on foot for the elderly or vacationers with small children: you will have to go up the hill for about 25 minutes, not everyone is easy. The advantage of walking will be the opportunity to see beautiful panoramic views of the city of Blanes, opening up as the slope rises. In order not to get lost and easily navigate the labyrinths of the Botanical Garden, do not forget to take the park map at the entrance.

San Juan Castle

The ancient castle of San Juan remains the invariable symbol of Blanes. It began its history back in the 13th century, when it was erected on the site of an ancient Roman fortress. Long time the castle of San Juan was the personification of the reliability and protection of the city from the attacks of ill-wishers. Over the centuries, the castle was destroyed and rebuilt several times, but this did not prevent it from obtaining the status of a national monument and becoming an obligatory point in the excursion route of tourists. San Juan is located on a mountain at an altitude of more than 170 meters, offering unforgettable views of the surroundings (the coast is especially beautiful in the light of night lights in the evening). To date, a city historical museum has been created on the territory.

Chapel of St. Barbara

St. Barbara was the patroness of the city of Blanes. The chapel in her honor is located next to the castle of San Juan, and is rightfully considered one of the main attractions of the resort town. At first it was the watchtower of the castle, but over time it was rebuilt into a chapel, the bell of which announced local population about the possible danger. The road from the center of Blanes to the castle and the chapel takes no more than 20 minutes and pleases the eye with picturesque sea views.

Plaza Catalunya is a small but very picturesque square located in the central part of the Spanish resort of Blanes. The square is the starting point for the tourist exploration of Blanes, and from here you can easily reach the city beach.

Plaza Catalunya is considered the central square of Blanes, but this place cannot boast of its large size. The square is a small circle of green area, surrounded on all sides by a transport ring. In the center of the square there is an interesting flower bed, the flowers on which are planted in such a way that from a height the whole area looks like a big compass. In the middle of the flower bed there is a sculpture in the shape of a fishing boat.

Plaza Catalunya is the center of Blanes' tourist life - here numerous sightseeing buses, there is also an information center where you can get maps, brochures and make inquiries about popular tourist routes and city attractions.

The Church of Santa Maria is a Gothic church with a long history located on the Costa Brava.

The church was built in the XIV century on the site of an old palace that belonged to the Blanes family in 1114. It has two entrances: service and front.

It is best to visit church on weekdays, when there are not so many people and there are no weddings in the church. At the end of July, during the feast of the patroness of the city of St. Anne, a festive atmosphere reigns in the temple. On this day, locals arrange fireworks right on the seashore.

Opening hours of the temple: from 9 to 20 hours, during the siesta it closes from 13 to 16 hours.

The Mar and Murtra Botanical Gardens are deservedly considered one of the most famous in Europe. This botanical garden was created for future construction. international center, for scientific research. More than 3,000 plant species now grow in this garden on the Mediterranean coast.

The garden space is divided into three zones: the Mediterranean, the subtropics and the temperate zone. In each of these spaces, plants are planted corresponding to a particular locality, as well as various phytocenoses of the five continents. Currently, the botanical garden belongs to the Karl Faust Foundation, which is engaged in scientific research, the conservation of endangered plant species, and the popularization of scientific knowledge. Some time ago, the Government of Catalonia included it in the list of national cultural monuments.

There are several observation platforms near the coast, from which magnificent panoramic views of the Costa Brava are opened. Sitting in a romantic gazebo, you can breathe deeply, inhaling the aromas of flowers, the smell of pine needles and the sea ...

The rock of Sa Palomera is located near the coast and can be reached on foot, passing along a narrow sandy isthmus. Steps carved in stone lead to the top of the cliff, and a well-equipped observation deck, which offers a wonderful view of the city of Blanes and the golden beaches of the Mediterranean coast. Also at the top of Sa Palomera is a tall flagpole on which the striped flag of Catalonia flutters.

Overall, Sa Palomera is one of the most popular attractions in Blanes. During the summer, this rock hosts an international fireworks festival, and all the rockets are launched from the summit of Sa Palomera, providing this place with additional attention.
