Interesting things to do in bulgaria yourself. Sights of bulgaria, their photos and description

Victor Pashinsky

The country is very versatile. Only here, next to dozens of never-ending discos, you can see one of the.

Only in Bulgaria did we manage to reach on foot with amazingly clear water and sand, reminiscent of the Bounty advertisement.

And, of course, in Bulgaria any Russian tourist will feel as comfortable as possible: friendly people, complete absence, low and European quality of products leave few people indifferent. Let's try to figure out what and how in Bulgaria: what you can see here and how best to spend your time.

What excursions and sights can be seen in Bulgaria in summer?

But there is also a surprisingly interesting corner in Balchik - a local one. The place worth visiting is not cheap. We paid 12 leva for the entrance to the garden and palace. But it was definitely worth it. The park is very large and amazingly beautiful; here you can see many exotic plants, a collection of palms and cacti, old Bulgarian villas and even the palace of the Romanian Queen Maria. For those who wish there is a tasting of elite Bulgarian wines, but we ignored it.

The palace itself, which cost 5 levs, was not very pleasant to us. There is practically nothing inside, they were allowed to enter only the first 2 floors. If you have the opportunity not to purchase a ticket to the palace, you do not have to spend money. But the park is definitely worth a visit. We walked in it for about 5 hours and would have been happy to spend even more time there if we hadn't had to rush to the bus.

A small summer residence of Queen Mary is located on the coast of Balchik.

Magnificent bush patterns adorn the garden in Balchik.

At the entrance to the greenhouse of the botanical garden, all the plants that are rich in this part of the park are perfectly visible.

In the botanical garden, you can feel the skilled hand of the landscape master.

Even huge cacti in Balchik's greenhouse manage to bloom and delight tourists.

A part of the garden from which you can go down directly to the embankment of Balchik.

The entire millet park is surrounded by greenery and flowers. It is very pleasant to walk in the shade of trees in the hot summer heat.

Burgas and Varna are the largest cities in seaside Bulgaria

Interestingness: Excellent
Get there: Easy

Burgas and Varna - Largest cities on the coast of Bulgaria. Despite the fact that these are primarily large industrial centers and ports, they really have something to see.

We advise you to go here in windy weather, so that you do not get bitten by midges and do not forget with you binoculars or a high-magnification camera, an umbrella from the sun, water and food for a picnic. Healing mud is also mined in Pomorie, salt is evaporated from the local water - bathing in the lake is considered beneficial to health and is not prohibited.

Between Pomorie and Aheloy there is a long sand spit... It is a pleasure to sunbathe on it and swim in the sea.

Closer to Aheloy, the sand spit is more busy with tourists, but tourists are still several times less than on the beaches in resort towns and villages.

The waters of Lake Pomorie were divided by small narrow dams. Some of them have ornithological or botanical routes.

Many birds can be seen on Lake Pomorie. This is not surprising, because the place is considered a bird sanctuary.

The shell we caught by accident served only as an object for a small photo session, and then went very quickly back into the water.

A small dam runs between Lake Pomorie and the Black Sea. We walked along it when we traveled between cities to Pomorie.

Bungalows and small houses near Lake Pomorie are often rented to tourists.

Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanassi - one of the most beautiful corners in the interior of the country

Interestingness: Excellent
Getting there: Hard.

Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanassi are located in the interior of the country. Getting there by bus is quite difficult - you have to go with a change in Varna and book a hotel for an overnight stay on the spot. You can choose one of the popular excursions to these places. They cost from 70 to 90 leva, depending on the resort and the travel company.

You will be able to see a city with a history dating back almost 7000 years, which seems to have frozen somewhere in the Middle Ages. Narrow streets, overhanging houses, steep stairs and unexpected bends of paths - this is how you will remember the ancient capital of Bulgaria, Veliko Tarnovo.

Arbanassi is an old Bulgarian village with many authentic buildings with rich interior decoration and several churches.

Rose Valley - a place where millions of roses grow

Every year Kazanlak hosts a magnificent holiday - the Festival of Roses.

Interestingness: Excellent
To get there: Hard

They write about the Valley of Roses in Bulgaria on almost every website. Tens of thousands of roses have been planted here, which are then used to make famous cosmetics. Interesting not only the valley itself, but also its surroundings. We advise you to see Plovdiv, Kazanlak and Shipka, climb the local mountains or see the Thracian tomb.

The nearest airport is in Plovdiv. The Rose Valley can be reached by bus from Sofia (200 km), Plovdiv (100 km) or Gabrovo (50 km). It makes sense to come here only from May to the end of June, when the roses are still in bloom.

An excursion to the Valley of Roses will cost about 70-80 levs per person.

Sofia - the ancient capital of Bulgaria

Interestingness: Excellent
To get there: Hard

Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria. The city is interesting not only for the huge number of attractions by the standards of Bulgaria, but also for the road to it - you will drive through the mountains. Surprisingly, even after going down the metro, you can see ancient masonry or archaeological excavations.

The easiest way to get to Sofia is with a transfer in Varna. An excursion to Sofia with a stop at the Rila Monastery will cost about 130-150 leva. In our opinion, Sofia is much inferior in the number of attractions to most European capitals, but for Bulgaria it is just a great option.

Aladzha Monastery - a shrine right in the thickness of the rock

Interestingness: Excellent
To get there: Hard

Aladzha is an ancient rocky monastery located not far from Varna and Golden Sands. Now the monastery does not work and is exclusively a tourist attraction. If the photos on the internet are to be believed, there really is a lot to see here. True, many tourists write that visiting the monastery is clearly not worth the time spent.

You can get to the monastery by taxi, rented car or during an excursion to Balchik.

Rila Monastery - one of the largest in Bulgaria

Interestingness: Excellent
To get there: Hard

The Rila Monastery is the largest stavropegic (this is the highest status) male monastery in Bulgaria. It is located in the mainland of the country, 117 kilometers from the capital of Bulgaria, the city of Sofia. The monastery was founded in the X century and is somewhat reminiscent, but it is much more majestic.

Excursion to Istanbul - one of the most beautiful cities in Turkey

Interestingness: Excellent
To get there: Hard

Not far from Bulgaria is the city of Istanbul. Various tour operators offer a lot of excursions for every taste: for one, two or three days, shopping tours or excursion options... We recommend visiting Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque (Mehmet Sokollu Pasha Mosque) in Istanbul.

Ropotamo - a nature reserve near Burgas

Interestingness: Excellent

Not far from Burgas is Ropotamo - a large and beautiful nature reserve, where excursions with tourists are taken. A visit to Ropotamo will cost about 50-60 leva. As the guide suggested to us, “you can see turtles there”.

Ravadinovo castle - modern but very beautiful

Ravadinovo castle - new building. But at the same time it is very beautiful and well-groomed. There is a park and a small lake. You can get to it both by a rented car and during an excursion.

Cape Kaliakra - one of the most beautiful sea views in Bulgaria

Interestingness: Average
To get there: Hard

One of the most beautiful seascapes in Bulgaria opens from Cape Kaliakra. At least that's what they say travel companies and guides. Here you can also look at the windmills that generate electricity.

Broken stones - one of the most mystical places in Bulgaria

Interestingness: Average
To get there: Hard

There has always been a lot of controversy about this place. To some, it seems mystical, unusual and filled with special energy, while for others it is just a popular tourist attraction.

What you can see: original stone pipes up to several meters high. Some of them are hollow, with an almost perfectly consistent diameter, while others look more like tree trunks. Scientists still argue about the origin of this place. Many believe that these are just giant petrified algae from ancient times, when there was a sea here.

You can get and see the Broken Stones on a rented car or by ordering an excursion. Public transport here, of course, does not go.

Sozopol is one of the most overrated places in Bulgaria

Interest: Low
To get there: Hard

Sozopol is often referred to as the Bulgarian Athens and local Jerusalem. In fact, apart from a small amphitheater and a few old buildings, we saw nothing there. As one of our friends aptly described Sozopol, “Have you been to Nessebar? Here in Sozopol everything is the same, but 10 times less. "

You can get to Sozopol by bus, boat or during an excursion. But since the city is located far to the south, it will take a very, very long time to go there from most resorts.

Other sights of Bulgaria

Of course, in Bulgaria you can see many different sights. The country is rich in surprisingly: picturesque valleys, mountains, waterfalls, lakes and sea bays. There are also ancient monasteries that keep many miraculous icons.

In Bulgaria, you can easily find next to, and after a few kilometers - walk to a corner of untouched nature.

But especially Bulgaria is strongly attracted by various magicians and psychics - no other country has such a number of places of power. It is not for nothing that the powerful Wanga for a long time lived somewhere in these places ...

Summer is just around the corner and it's time to think about a family vacation in the summer. By family vacation, we mean not only ourselves, but also our beloved children, who behaved well all year and also deserved to go on a trip with their parents. As usual for family vacation with children, we suggest you go to Bulgaria. Why this particular country it is worth choosing for families with children? There are many reasons for this, well, firstly, Bulgaria - and children will be interested there, and there will be something to do, except for wallowing on the beach. Secondly, in Bulgaria you can relax not only near the sea. There are many other places for recreation, thirdly, Bulgaria has a very high level of service, but the prices are very low compared to other European resorts. Fourthly, who will ask these children where to go on vacation, where they will be taken, let them be satisfied.

So, Bulgaria is a great country for families with children, because here you can find something to do for every taste. Let's look at several places for families with children in Bulgaria and talk about what you can see there, what to do and, in general, how to have more fun. But before that, let's talk about more pressing matters, for example, about the execution of documents that you will need to travel to Bulgaria with children... It's no secret that it's no longer part of one big country, and in order to get into it, you need a package of documents.

It is clear that you need a passport and a visa, but this is for adults. If you decide to go on vacation with children, then you will have to draw up a few more pieces of paper. If the child goes on vacation with both parents, then you will not have any problems, but if one of the parents stays at home, and the child is going to travel with the other parent, then you will need, in addition to visas and passports, you will have to issue a permission to leave the child for border.

This permission is drawn up from a notary and must be certified by the second parent. If there is no such permission, then the child will not be released from the country, and if they manage to come to an agreement with our border guards, then the Bulgarian border guards will definitely not let them through and will not react to winks - Europe. Here everyone does their job and does it well. Why such precautions and paperwork are needed, we think there is no need to explain, unfortunately, trafficking in people and children is not such a rare case in the 21st century, well, parents sometimes steal their own children because of a quarrel. In general, watch TV, they will explain everything to you.

Climate

What kind of weather will you expect in Bulgaria in summer? The question is very important, especially if you are going there with children.

The summer season begins in Bulgaria in May and from the end of May you can go there on vacation, but you should not go so early to Bulgaria with children, at this time the sea is not yet very well warmed up, so for a holiday with children in Bulgaria it is better to wait a little and go on vacation in June. It cannot be said that the weather in Bulgaria in summer is always good here and it rains hail, but mostly the weather here is sunny and warm.

There is no oppressive heat, the temperature in the hottest month rarely exceeds 30 degrees, but even when the thermometer rises to this mark, such heat is transferred quite simply because a light breeze always blows at sea resorts, which brings coolness and freshness to the shore. so the stuffiness of our southern cities does not threaten you in Bulgaria. It rarely rains here, it is warm during the day, but in the evening the weather can give an unpleasant surprise, the temperature in some resorts in the evening can drop to + 14-17 degrees, so it would be nice for you and your child to take warm clothes with you. Well, the most interesting thing we told you now let's talk about the resorts that are best suited for families with children in Bulgaria.

The length of the beaches here is about 6 kilometers, and the width of the beaches is more than 100 meters. There are no dangerous undercurrents or sharp drops at the bottom of the sea, the beaches are gentle. Therefore, this resort is perfect for families with children of all ages. On the beach there is a strip of breakwaters where dads can fish and escape from family affairs. You can stay in houses that are located on the seashore, there are also 2-4 star hotels. The resort has restaurants, cafes and bars where you can eat delicious food and taste the cuisine of different nations of the world.

- this resort is located near the resort of Sunny Beach, several villas and two hotels have been built here, which will gladly open their doors to tourists. This resort has all the conditions for a family and active rest... Here everyone will find something to their liking, for adults there are bars, a wine cellar, a tennis court, an outdoor pool with sea water. For young tourists, there are playrooms, playgrounds and a whole army of animators who will gladly entertain your little spinogs. In the restaurants you can order a children's menu and taste dishes from European and national Bulgarian cuisine.

Golden Sands Is one of the most large resorts Bulgaria. There are many facilities for the entertainment of adults and children. There are many hotels on the territory of the resort and every tourist or a whole family will easily find a home for themselves within their pocket and according to their needs, here you can find something to do for every taste. The Golden Sands resort has just perfect conditions for active recreation, here you can ride various types of water transport, dive with scuba diving. For fans of scuba diving, an underwater park was specially built, where you can look at sunken pirate ships with treasures that have fallen out of the pierced sides. You can rent a yacht and go to boat trip... Those who like ordinary entertainment can visit discos, restaurants, cinema. There are many built for children playgrounds, there is also a water park here, by the way, one of the largest and first water parks built on the territory of Bulgaria.

We could not pass by children's camps, of which there are a great many on the territory of Bulgaria. We will not list all of them, at the end of the article we will say a few words about the international children's complex "Junior" - this is a huge camp where aunts can relax without adults. Here you can practice various sports, master acting, take up music, become proficient in programming and much, much more.

So how do you understand Bulgaria for families with children, fits just perfectly, because today we have reviewed only 10 resorts, and there are many more, and there are not only summer resorts, but also winter ones. I would like to note that, in addition to natural resources, Bulgaria has excellent prices for families with children. If you decide to find information about summer vacations in Bulgaria with children, you will find many positive reviews from those parents who have already been here in summer or winter with their heirs. Happy Holidays!

I love Bulgaria very much. Once upon a time, it was with her that my interest in foreign countries and Europe began. Having already visited many other countries, I was finally able to look here too. Bulgaria will always remain a special place for me - it is similar to Turkey, Germany and Russia, and therefore combines many of the advantages of the countries listed above. Bulgaria is also good because there are low prices for hotels, fruits, vegetables, food in restaurants and cafes, trips and excursions. The beaches here are clean and comfortable, suitable for a simple beach holiday for any Russian family.

Bulgaria is a beautiful country, picturesque and similar enough to Russia to travel around it without any worries. Bulgaria, of course, is not all interesting for tourists: mainly there are small towns and villages, half-abandoned, on simple plains. But there is also a stunning city - the capital Sofia, which is half like a Russian city, half like a German, and at the same time very authentic. The photo below shows the Golden Sands resort.

And the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria is absolutely breathtaking. There are incredibly beautiful traditional seaside towns, recently renovated by the state, large resorts with large hotels and large beaches, as well as wild bays that can be reached by bus or car to enjoy their pristine beauty.

Beach vacation

Beach vacation in Bulgaria refers to the Black Sea coast... There are small towns with boutique hotels and apartments for rent, large resorts with large chain hotels and whole tourist towns, as well as small villages with picturesque bays for a quiet secluded getaway. For example, as in Sveti Vlas in the photo below.

Beach holidays in Bulgaria have a particularly good climate. Usually, all the cities and villages on the coast are small, they have clean and pleasant air, there are no traffic jams or increased traffic, the noise of a big city. Another plus is spacious sandy beaches for those who are tired of pebbles and who are anxious about this vacation item. The brightest and cleanest beaches in Pomorie, near Burgas. And here is a gorgeous color.

I have visited many cities in Bulgaria, traveled all over the country, somewhere I was only two or three days, somewhere two or even three or four weeks, and I can say with confidence that almost every place could become my home: it's nice, cheap and clean here. I would say that Bulgaria - beautiful place for relaxation and life!

Conventionally, there are four regions in Bulgaria for beach holiday marked on the map with asterisks of different colors. The North belongs to such resorts as Varna and Golden Sands, here are the most popular resorts, where a lot of Russians have rest for many years. From north to south, the list of Bulgarian resorts looks like this:

  • Varna - Big city with large shops and a port (there is also a beach here), and Golden Sands is artificially created and very neat and beautiful resort village... These two resorts are located in the north of the coast.
  • The center refers to Nessebar and, where in Nessebar you can plunge into the Bulgarian culture, in Sunny Beach - swim, and in Sveti Vlas - take a break from the hustle and bustle surrounded by green hills of wondrous beauty.
  • Burgas is good for those who want to come to a real resort city, and not an artificial one, in order to walk around the city, streets, shops and parks, which is not the case in most Bulgarian resorts. At the same time, Pomorie is a good place for families with children, the water here is clean, entry into the sea is very gentle, simply the best in Bulgaria. - a great small village with a beautiful Old Town, which is very much loved by Europeans.
  • And the wild south, where the villages of Sinemorets, Primorsko, Kiten and Ahtopol are located, is the last lower section for those who like a quiet vacation by the sea in the wilderness, in the provinces, but with a pleasant climate and clean air. Find out more about each region below.

Varna and Golden Sands (north)

Varna is a large city with a population of 335 thousand people. There are many places for walking, beautiful green alleys and parks, classical architecture, many shops, restaurants and hotels. The city lives more independently of tourists than other cities in Bulgaria, so it can be interesting for those who want to see the real Bulgarian life with their own eyes. This city is perhaps the greenest of all. There are also good large beaches, convenient for tourists. The only drawback is the presence of a port, which pollutes the surrounding waters. I would advise you to swim in Golden Sands, nearby, and go for a walk in Varna.

In August in Varna, an ideal vacation can be spent in a hotel for 50-60 USD per day for four people in a good room of 40-60 square meters.

Golden Sands is a resort in which there are no local Bulgarian residents in principle. All who work here in the service for tourists live in Varna or at a hotel. Golden Sands is famous for its almost endless beaches, and the city itself, its streets, cafes and restaurants are very beautiful and well-groomed.

In Golden Sands, you can rent a room for four in a hotel on the first line for 100-200 USD in August and for 50 USD in a regular hotel.

Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Sveti Vlas (center)

Nessebar is a small traditional town on the peninsula, in which 22 thousand people live, almost all of whom work in tourism. It is very pleasant to rest in this part of the country in tranquility and unity with the flavor of seaside Bulgaria. There is an Old Town with narrow streets and a very large beach in the Sunny Beach region.

In the center of Nessebar, you can rent a hotel room for four in August for about 60-100 USD.

Burgas is a very popular resort because of its low prices... In August, a room for four can be easily found for 40-50 USD.

Non-tourist areas

In principle, you can see the whole of Bulgaria if you focus on big cities, and not on urban-type settlements. All of it is quite picturesque, and the cities are very similar to each other, with tiled roofs in the old center and with panel and other low-rise small-apartment buildings in new districts. True, I advise you not to drive near the borders to Romania, Serbia and Macedonia, but the borders with Greece and Turkey are more friendly.

Where to go from Bulgaria

Many tourists who come to Bulgaria and understand that they are already in Europe are looking for another country to visit during a 7-14-day trip. This is correct, since two absolutely incredible countries are located south of Bulgaria - Greece

Friends, you often ask, so we remind you! 😉

Flights- You can compare prices from all airlines and agencies here!

Hotels- don't forget to check prices from booking sites! Don't overpay. This !

Rent a Car- also aggregation of prices from all distributors, all in one place, let's go!

Anything to add?

May 27, 2016 11:37 Burgas region, Nessebar, Veliko Tarnovo + 6 cities - Bulgaria August 2015

And so why exactly Bulgaria ...

1. Bulgaria although it is a member of the European Union, you can make a Bulgarian visa there, not a Schengen one. Bulgarian visa much cheaper and you do not need to go to take prints.

With a multiple entry Bulgarian visa, you can also visit neighboring countries, for example, Turkey, Romania, Macedonia.

2. If you choose the place of your deployment Golden sand and then get ready for a noisy endless party. In Golden Sands, somehow there is a significant difference in the sea along the entire 10 km of the village. The most beautiful sea, with a stunning turquoise hue at the very beginning of Golden Sands. The color of the sea there is unrealistically similar to the Caribbean Sea.

3. If you want not just to lie on the beach, but to see the country, then the first place where you should go is the city- Veliko Tarnovo... You can get there by buses with transfers from any region of Bulgaria, but it will take a long time. The most convenient way is by car. There are also excursions there. Veliko Tarnovo is a wonderful old town located in a highly hilly and mountainous area. From the cafe and viewing platforms a wonderful view of the city, which was once the capital of Bulgaria, opens up. The first mention of Tarnovo in historical monuments dates back to the 9th century; in 1186-1393 here was the capital of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom, the place of coronation of the Bulgarian kings and the residence of the archbishop, from 1235 - of the Bulgarian patriarchs. The Transfiguration Monastery is located 6.5 km north of Tarnovo. Acting male monastery, located under the sheer cliffs.

4. In Veliko Tarnovo, an old town is a must-see. fortress Tsarevets... The entrance to the fortress is paid. She is on eponymous hill, right in the city center. This hill is not easy. Archaeological excavations have found on it the remains of ancient people who lived here as far back as the second millennium BC.

The fortress itself was built in the 12th century, and served as the main fortification for the royal power and patriarchy from 1185 to 1393.

The fortress wall is very well preserved. The Patriarch's Palace is perhaps the most luxurious building in the entire fortress. It can be seen from anywhere in the city, it is he who forms the silhouette of the fortress.

5. The next interesting place in Bulgaria is the Castle in the village of Ravadinovo "In love with the wind"... Although the castle is new, it is very impressive. You can spend a pleasant half day there. Here is the main advice not to be mistaken with the time of the visit. The ideal time is early morning (there are almost no tourists yet) and sunset time (especially for photographers). The entrance to the castle is paid.

6. Another pleasant day in Bulgaria can be spent in one of the oldest Bulgarian villages - Arbanassi... Not far from the town of Veliko Tarnovo. Small Bulgarian village, with rich history and many churches, monasteries and landmarks. One of the monasteries in the village of Arbanassi is the monastery of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, which belongs to the Veliko Tarnovo Metropolitanate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.

7. The next must-see place is Cape Kaliakra... Cape Kaliakra is located 12 km from Kavarna. It protrudes into the sea for 2 km.

At the entrance to the cape, an obelisk is visible in honor of 40 Bulgarian girls, who, according to legend, tied their braids and rushed from the cape into the sea, only to avoid being captured by the Ottomans. On the territory of the cape we see ruins ancient fortress, the remains of Roman baths, etc. Until now, household items from the times are found here Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. In one of the caves there is a small museum where you can see these artifacts with your own eyes.

On the way to the cape, you can enjoy endless fields of bright yellow sunflowers. The most beautiful photos from Bulgaria can be taken here.

8. Another wonderful Bulgarian town - Varna- the sea capital of Bulgaria. Varna is a famous Black Sea resort in northeastern Bulgaria, a recognized tourist capital of the country. This is a historically developed resort area with the richest natural resources, one of the most important and largest in the Black Sea and Eastern Europe. In addition, Varna is a city with a very busy cultural life claiming the title cultural capital Europe 2019. Prices in Varna are much cheaper than in the rest of the country.

Lots of greenery.

9. Sozopol. The charm of this city cannot be conveyed in words. It is one of the oldest cities in Europe. I really wanted to feel surrounded ancient architecture... Sozopol is located 35 km south of Bourgas on a small picturesque peninsula. The old part of the city is an architectural reserve. It is often called "Harmanite" because of the many mills - "Harman", which were located here in ancient times. You can go in any direction - the city is beautiful everywhere. Sozopol is as if created for romantics and connoisseurs of antiquity. It is impossible to get lost in this city, it is tiny - there are only 4 thousand inhabitants and almost everyone knows Russian. Young people easily switch to German and English. The city is built up with buildings no higher than three or four floors. Sozopol is divided into two parts: Old and New town, between them a park and a beach. Family hotels and hotels are concentrated in the New Town. You can also live in the Old Town. But it is very noisy in the evening. It's good to walk and relax there. I advise you to look Old city not in the evening, when a bunch of cafes and shops work there, tourists wander in crowds, but early in the morning. You will see a completely different Sozopol, a real quiet, ancient city. Sozopol is a great option if you are traveling with children.

12

Nothing escapes your gaze.

10. Fortress Ovech is located in Bulgaria east of Provadia, 53 kilometers west of Varna and 410 kilometers east of Sofia. The Ovech Fortress is located in Bulgaria east of Provadia, 53 kilometers west of Varna and 410 kilometers east of Sofia. Historical sources present this place under various names. The oldest name is the Byzantine Provat, the Bulgarian name is Ovech, and the Turkish name is Tash-Hisar, which means “stone fortress”.

Archaeological research has shown that this fortification was consistently used by the Byzantines, Thracians, Bulgarians, Romans and Turks in the third - early 7th centuries, later in the period from 10-11 to the end of the 17th century. Here the events related to the reign of Tsar Ivaylo in 1277-1280, with the campaign of Count Amadeus VI of Savoy in 1366, as well as with the campaign of the Polish-Hungarian King Vladislav III Jagiellon (Varnenchik) in 1444 took place. Try to arrive at the fortress in the late afternoon. From the fortress you can enjoy the stunning Bulgarian sunset. The entrance to the fortress is paid. But we arrived in the evening and the guards were gone, and we passed for free.

24

The fortress is open all year round.

11. Stone forest(broken stones) is a unique natural phenomenon that has no analogue in the world. Located 20 km from Varna towards Sofia. Tourist center is the central group 800 m long. Other groups are scattered over an area of 50 sq. km. Geologists from all over the world have visited the stone forest and tried to unravel its mystery. There are officially 15 hypotheses. The most popular version is that there was a sea in these parts 50 million years ago. Geologists named it the Lute Sea. Over time, three layers formed at the bottom of the sea. The lowest layer consisted of a gray-yellow marl base, a thick layer of quartz sand formed on it, the uppermost layer consisted of limestone. Over time, the water left these places. Under the influence of atmospheric conditions, the upper layer began to collapse. Lime-saturated rainwater from the upper layer began to penetrate into the lower layers of quartz sand. Thus, the layers began to firmly weld together and form from top to bottom large stone pillars, similar to the outgrowths of stalactites that are found in caves.

An interesting fact is that many of the columns are hollow - that is, empty from the inside. So, according to another version, plants similar to tropical mango trees grew here. Stone pillars formed around the plants, and the plants rotted and over time formed wastelands in the columns. The entrance to the reserve is paid.

12. Nessebar- the pearl of Bulgaria: a masterpiece of architecture that has survived to our times. The city is located on a rocky peninsula 850 m long and 300 m wide, 37 km north of Burgas.

Nessebar is one of oldest cities Europe. It has been proven that its history goes back at least three millennia: every year archaeologists discover new traces of ancient cultures and civilizations that lived on the peninsula. Nessebar is included in the list of the world cultural heritage: in 1956 it was declared a city-museum, and since 1983 Nessebar has been under the auspices of UNESCO.

Old Nessebar is an example of a miracle. Several centuries ago, he went under water, only a piece of land 850 by 300 meters remained in place, where all 40 city temples are collected. "Underwater Nessebar" is clearly visible from a boat in good weather.
